"Enough, Jane," Steve's voice cut through the tension with a blend of authority and restraint. "Let her process this card. We'll see the truth soon enough. Let this bastard embarrass himself."

"But we can't let our dignity be trampled like this," Jane protested, her voice tinged with defiance as she pushed back against her husband's plea. Her sense of pride and indignation remained steadfast, unwilling to yield to the perceived injustice unfolding before them. In her eyes, conceding to the perceived deception would be an affront to their integrity, a betrayal of their principles.
