As Shiro and Korin walked along the training ground path, Shiro tried to practice his water abilities. There was no formal training today, so they walked round the grounds, students and instructors moving around too.
Shiro focused hard, attempting to form a steady stream of water as they moved. But it wasn’t working. The water kept slipping from his control, and frustration bubbled inside him. Korin chuckled softly, his small antennae twitching with amusement. Shiro gave him a curious glance. "What’s so funny?" "You remind me of him," Korin said with a grin. "Elro?" Shiro asked, tilting his head. "Yeah," Korin replied, nodding. "He was just like you—impatient, always eager to master his elements." “But he did learn eventually," Shiro said, “and saved Serevaal” "Oh, he did. And fast, too, but you'll learn too, Shiro and save both Serevaal and Earth" Korin said with a small smile. Shiro’s shoulders slumped slightly. " I am still struggling to make even a single drop," he muttered, discouraged. Korin gave him a reassuring pat on the back. "You’ll get there, Shiro. It just takes time. Trust me—you’ll be fine." Shiro glanced at him, still unsure, "Shiro!" He looked up to see Mei waving as she hurried toward them. "There you are!" Mei said with a grin. "I was hoping I’d run into you." She gave him a playful nudge on the arm. "Hey Korin,” she added as she touched his little arm. Before Korin could respond, someone else approached from the opposite direction. It was Yuki, his blue skin complimenting his eyes as he walked towards them. Yuki’s gaze flicked between Shiro and Mei, lingering briefly on Shiro. "I thought I’d find you here," he said, giving a small smirk. "You’re hard to keep up with, I've been looking for you ever since the incident." “I knew I'd see you again” Shiro replied. “This is my guardian, Korin and my friend, Mei,” Shiro introduced. "Korin, Mei…..Yuki," Shiro said, introducing him with a slight tilt of his head. "Yuki and I met at the Festival." Yuki gave Mei a once-over, his expression guarded but curious. “Hi, earthy girl" Mei chuckled. “Hi, water boy" Shiro glanced between the two of them, feeling at ease despite everything that had been bothering him. For the first time in a while, the weight pressing on his chest seemed lighter, and it felt good—normal, even—to just talk without worrying about anything. Yuki turned to Shiro, lowering his voice slightly. "You okay, though? I heard the boy is in the council prison." Mei’s smile faded a little at the mention, her expression softening with concern. Shiro gave a slow nod. “I heard so, isn't it strange?" "Strange is an understatement," Yuki muttered, running a hand through his messy hair. Mei gave Shiro a gentle pat on the shoulder. "I know you’ve been through a lot.” “ You know it's only the beginning right?” Korin said. “It is” Shiro replied As they all stood there, the wind picked up again, stirring the leaves at their feet. For a moment, everything felt still—too still, like the calm before a storm. The air seemed heavier, as if the world was holding its breath. Mei glanced around, sensing the shift. "Something feels off…” Almost suddenly, the sky shifted. It started as a subtle flicker—a flash of light purple spreading across the horizon. At first, they thought it was just clouds passing, but soon the purple darkened, turning into a deep red. Moments later, streaks of blue, then black, rippled across the sky, as though someone were mixing paints above them. The wind stirred violently, swirling fallen leaves and dust into chaotic circles. Shiro stumbled backward, shielding his eyes as a gust swept past him. “What’s happening?” Shiro asked as he barely opened his eyes. Mei put her hand on the ground for stability. The earth under her touch trembled faintly, shifting as if uncertain. Korin’s antennae quivered. “The orb... it must be the orb….something’s wrong with the orb.” “If the orb was destabilizing, it could mean the Dark One is closer than we imagined” Yuki stated in horror. They sprinted through the streets, dodging the panicking people around them. Elements were going haywire—some student's powers misfired in every direction. Someone accidentally summoned a stream of fire that erupted toward a nearby tree, while another's wind element whipped uncontrollably through the air, sending debris flying. “Everyone !! Get!! Inside!!” An instructor shouted. Shiro's water, which had been struggling moments ago, now splashed wildly in the air, spreading and jerking out of his control. “I— I can’t stop it!” Shiro shouted, trying desperately to keep it from exploding into a wave. Yuki clenched his fists, drops of water springing along his fingertips too. “This is bad...” he tried to form a mage but his attempts were void. The ground beneath Mei shivered as if it were alive, small rocks jumping and vibrating. She clenched her jaw and whispered, “You can do it, Mei,” channeling all her strength to keep the earth from rising beneath their feet. They ran with their elements going haywire till they reached the council grounds where the Helpers were stationed, only to find them struggling. Their elements were channeling into the glowing orb. As The Helpers stood around the well, channeling power that would go straight to the orb, their faces etched with strain. But it wasn’t enough—their efforts were vain. “We need to get to the council! !” Korin shouted to Shiro. When they got to the council room, The Protectors were tryinh to channel their elements to the orb but it wasn't working. The orb suddenly flickered and the room plunged into sudden darkness. Then, just as suddenly as the chaos had begun, everything stilled. The orb settled, the sky returned to a clear purple, the winds died, and the trembling earth settled. Silence followed—a heavy, uncertain silence. The Council Protectors, breathing heavily, exchanged confused glances. “What just happened?” Alaric whispered looking at his fellow protectors. “The orb... it was just losing strength, now everything is settled??,” Zerix said as confused as Alaric “Something is interfering with it.” Shiro glanced at the others uneasily. “But why did it stop so suddenly?” Rexar asked. They didn’t answer, his gaze fixed on the now-quiet orb. “This... isn’t over, ” Rexar sighed looking at Shiro slyly.Cora sat at the head of the council table as usual, her face quite unreadable as she tapped her fingers rhythmically on the surface. The rest of the council sat at both sides of the room, tension thick in the air. “This is the second time we've had unknown events in the space of about two days, something triggered that Orb” Rexar began, frustration seeping into his voice. “And it’s only happening where 'The Chosen One' is.” Zerix leaned forward, arms folded. “What are you saying, Rexar??” Zerix questioned “I’m not saying he’s the cause, but the connection is undeniable.” Rexar defended. “He's the Reborn, we should expect something like this, The Dark one is after him” Alaric stated. Cora, silent for a moment, finally spoke. “The training is no longer safe as long as he trains there—not for students.” “We can’t just pull him out in the middle of his training,” Zerix protested. “He needs structure, guidance, foundation.” “Structure won’t help if the Dark One attacks agai
Shiro stepped onto the training grounds, where the Fire Training ground stretched out before him—a vast, open space enclosed by a high stone wall, with a structure that seemed to reach toward the sky. The air here had a distinct heat, even before the fires began. Burnt soil stretched across the field, while scattered fire pits and practice targets dotted the area, waiting for the day's training. Around him, other students were getting ready for the session, murmuring in low voices. They were here for a challenge, yet they couldn't hide their excitement. Shiro’s eyes swept over the place, noting the energy in the air. Korin was somewhere waiting for him to finish his Fire training. The Fire training had a different feel from the others; it felt quite raw, powerful, and alive. He took a deep breath, the air warm and thick with the scent of smoke. A loud, clear voice interrupted the buzz. “Alright, everyone!” It was their instructor, a tall, sturdy woman with a red cherry like sk
The news of the possessed boy's death spread like wildfire across the Serevaal Training Academy. The morning air felt heavy as Shiro and Korin had walked through the academy, still unaware of what happened. Though, there was no training scheduled today, so the ground wasn't full of much people, Shiro wondered why. Whispers of hushed conversations drifted from corners with one person’s name lingering in the air– the possessed boy in the dungeon. Mei soon caught up with Shiro and Korin as they made their way to the training ground. “Did you hear?? They say the possessed boy that attacked the school a few weeks ago is dead.” Mei said with a sad tone. Shiro halted immediately and then blinked. ”Dead? How?!” He said, startled as he looked at Korin. “Well, the council is yet to release an official statement about what happened but rumors have it that he killed himself….” Mei replied, her tone hushed. “....last night, right in his cell” Korin frowned, his antennas twitching.
Yuki sat alone in his small cottage, surrounded by the quiet night. The cottage was located in the Serevaal village, a lot of supernaturals lived there Ever since his dad died, he had kept to himself, rarely talking to others. People thought he was strong and calm, but deep inside, he felt a heavy sadness. Tonight, he couldn’t ignore it anymore. He was going to the Memory Blossom garden—a place that could show him a memory of his dad, just once. He knew he’d only have one chance in his lifetime to use the flower, but for him, it was worth it.Strangely, he had told Shiro about his dad at the festival. He didn’t know why, but just did and he doesn't normally talk about it to anyone. As the night deepened, Yuki decided it was time to go. The Memory Blossom garden was most powerful at night; the blossoms glowed brightest under the moonlight, making memories feel almost real.He closed his eyes and summoned his water mage. A shimmering blue figure, like a spirit made of clea
Shiro and Korin made their way to the training grounds, anticipation swirling in the morning air. Today, Shiro would be learning about the Earth element, and he was also excited as he would train with Mei today. As he arrived, he spotted his Mei, and waved. Together, they all walked towards the Earth training section where a small group of students were already gathered.Korin then left them to practice.Mrs. Rena stood at the front, her calm and commanding presence immediately catching everyone’s attention. Mrs Rena happened to be the best Earth controller in Serevaal. She looked over the students with a focused expression before beginning."Good day, everyone," she greeted the group. "Today, we'll be working with the Earth element. I want you all to know that Earth is not just about moving rocks or controlling soil. It’s about feeling the steady force that grounds everything around us." she said, her voice carrying easily across the field. “Earth is a patient element, surely th
It was a bright, cheerful day at the training grounds of Serevaal, a day that brimmed with excitement and pride. The air smelled of blooming petalvine flowers, which grew along the arched stone pathways. Crystal-clear water fountains shot streams of shimmering liquid high into the air, their gentle splashes adding a melody to the bustling atmosphere. Silver and blue banners hung elegantly between the tall trees that surrounded the training grounds.Today was no ordinary day. It was the Promotion Ceremony, where students were awarded badges to signify their progress in their training. Each badge represented a new milestone and was a testament to the hard work, determination, and growth of the students. Shiro and Mei stood among them, Shiro's heart beating faster than usual. They were about to be promoted to the NOVICE level—a step forward in Shiro's journey. The center of attention was a raised podium, carved from white marble and adorned with intricate etchings of the four elements
The first punch landed hard on Shiro’s stomach, knocking the wind out of him. He staggered back, breathless, the laughter of his classmates filling the air. Before he could react, a second punch caught across his jaw, sending him falling to the ground. The familiar wave of shame twisted in his chest, but beneath it, something darker stirred. “Come on, freak!” one of the bullies sneered. “Show us your powers! Do something!” Shiro clenched his fists, his breath coming in ragged gasps. They didn’t understand him so did he. He had always known he was different—Since childhood, strange things had happened to him and around him. A cup shattering when he was angry, the air going cold when he was scared, his classroom becoming so hot when he's sad…even having dreams that seemed a little too real and familiar. And lately, it had grown stronger, harder to control. He felt it now, bubbling just beneath the surface. Heat prickled at his skin, and the earth beneath him trembled ever so sligh
Shiro found himself in a strange place. It wasn’t exactly a forest, but rather a foggy, empty void. The air was thick, almost suffocating, and the sky above was shrouded in gray mist. He had seen this place before, it looked so familiar—somewhere, in dreams or fleeting thoughts—but he couldn’t quite place it. He blinked, trying to comprehend what was happening. Tiny shapes moved in the distance, whispering among themselves in a language he couldn’t understand. They were blurry before, like half-formed images in the back of his mind. But now... now he could see them clearly. These creatures were unlike anything he’d ever seen. Small, with brightly colored fur covering their bodies, their hands and legs skinny and delicate. They had two antennae that twitched constantly, and their eyes seemed to glow in the fog. They moved as if unaware of Shiro’s presence, passing by him without fear. Shiro wasn’t just confused—he was scared. As he stood frozen, trying to make sense of it all, a sma
