Only a few close relatives of the Hills were here yesterday.

Today, however, was different.

Everyone was present.

Jedidiah and his four sons and two daughters, as well as his nieces and nephews, were all present. The courtyard of the Hills’ residence resounded with laughter and joy.

James and Thea became the subjects of discussion the moment they arrived. Everyone murmured about how Gladys’ time had come and how she could finally lift her head high.

Gladys headed toward them and reproached James, “What were you thinking, James? How dare you stay out all night with my daughter?!”

Thea hurriedly explained, “Mom, it’s not his fault. I drank a little last night. So, we decided to get a room at a hotel.”

“Aunt Gladys, I treated Thea to a meal last night.” Cyrus stepped forward and said with a smile, “Thea couldn’t hold her liquor and was drunk only after a few glasses of wine. It’s not her fault.”

Only then did Gladys brighten up a little.
