Kane clenched his jaw tightly and waited to feel the gut-wrenching pain from being shot, his eyes wide open the whole time.

However, he suddenly realized he was no longer standing in front of Tristan Caldwell. Instead, he was standing behind a familiar back.

“Did I say you could die?” Ethan asked without turning to look at him.

Kane felt a drop in his stomach and a lump formed in his throat.

“C-commander?”

Charles heaved a silent sigh of relief from where he stood and turned his attention to Tristan again.

Tristan Caldwell was startled when he didn’t see a corpse lying in front of him.

He hurriedly got up from his seat when he raised his eyes and realized there were no longer two men in the room with him, but three.

No one in the Caldwell family knew what Ethan looked like. All they had was an old picture of Ethan as a teenager which was taken from a bad angle with poor lighting.

Simply put, it was really of no use in identifying what Ethan looked like then and even now.
