Chapter 140
The trip to the edge of town, to the abandoned K-Mart building that we were planning on storing demon Sarah at, was a short duration but felt like an eternity as my brain explored the deepest, darkest areas of my suppressed terror thoughts.  I just had a very bad feeling that something wild was going to happen and cause us to miss our goal of locking demon Sarah away for the foreseeable future.  Jennifer, Jackson, and Todd all seemed focused and ready to get this task over with, but I just could not get my brain wrapped around this simple task, not with the death of the old woman weighing me down. My eyes fixated on demon Sarah, as she winced at every bump in the road.  The floor of the van was not ideal for a person to be lying on, there was no give or take on the metallic floor.  Every bump sent a small vibration of potential pain up my legs to my knees, I could only imagine what the

Chapter 141
The four of us, not counting demon Sarah, traversed through the dark, damp abandoned K-Mart.  Careful to stay in line with Todd, we watched each other’s feet as we progressed towards the area where we would be storing demon Sarah behind a false wall.  Sporadic glints of light cracked out in the darkness, lighters, lighters being used by nefarious people for dangerous things.  Their faces were hidden well in the darkness, only showing when their lighter ignited for a few seconds.  There had to be a hundred people in here, easily. Jackson had volunteered to carry demon Sarah over his shoulder, we surrounded him as we followed Todd to ensure he did not get snatched up in the darkness.  Jennifer, taking up the rear of the group, carried the metallic black forcefield producing box.  The tie-dyed shirt guy with the missing teeth had vanished into the darkness but I could feel his eyes burning into me as I followed Todd towards the far back corner of t

Chapter 142
The smell of mold and poison entered our lungs as whatever was stalking us in the darkness was drawing closer.  All of our senses were peeked, unfortunately for the smell sense, we were hypersensitive.  Todd worked away as fast and efficiently as he could but the three of us around him had to keep the perimeter clear so he could finish, and something was closing in on our position.   Jennifer turned to face a dark corner along the wall to her left, she was ready for whatever popped out of the darkness.  Jackson flanked the right side, ready and waiting to intercept any attack that may come our way.  I was guarding the middle, the largest area of all areas that needed to be covered and protected so that Todd could finish his work and secure demon Sarah behind the false wall. I said, “Stay alert guys.  We need to be ready; something is coming, and I do not think it wants to help us.” Todd had already placed the last of the dry

Chapter 143
With Todd having finished the false wall, placing demon Sarah behind there so that she can be temporarily removed from our lives for the time being, we were now whole again and ready to fight against dead Mrs. Williams and her demon wolves.  None of us surrounding Todd had been directly damaged yet by Mrs. Williams or her demon beasts, but the time was coming to counter the lunging attacks executed by the demon wolves.   It was very odd to have to deal with an attack from some terrifying animals while in the darkness of this abandoned K-Mart filled with drug addicts and drunks.  Without our ability to see, other than the glowing Mrs. Williams, our senses were heightened exponentially.  My increase in the sense of smell was less than pleasing.  The dank smell of this dark place filled with homeless people, demon wolves, and a ghostly Mrs. Williams was absolutely atrocious.&nbs

With my inscripted arm showing more bone than meat, I was more than happy to gamble and see if my new buddy the demon wolf would help us out and pay a very painful visit to the not so shiny Mrs. Williams.  Todd, Jackson, and Jennifer had run over to attack her after we had defeated the first three demon beasts.  Why would we waste our special abilities fighting a demon while risking a serious injury when we had an excellent chance to use one of her own weapons against her? My three mini alliance members noticed the glowing red eyes of the beast soaring past them.  All three stopped to see what was about to happen.  The only thing showing Mrs. Williams was her slight glow, it had faded severely once we executed her wild demon wolves.  Once we could clear Mrs. Williams from the picture, we would be able to assess the injuries I had sustained and get our butts out of this mold infest

Chapter 145
The four of us stood at the large bay door in astonishment.  The destroyed torso of demon Mrs. Williams had just been grabbed and taken into the depths of the darkness after Todd had harvested her demon orb and used it to heal my mangled arm.  We could easily have turned, gathered into the van, and left the area if it were not for a couple of issues.   The first issue was the fact that the thing that had taken the torso, likely to consume it, was probably a demon.  We had come here to secure demon Sarah behind a false wall, which Todd built, and we could not risk a demon being loose inside and eventually freeing demon Sarah.  That would make everything we had worked for an absolute waste of time.  Unfortunately, we had to battle whatever this demon was, where it was.  None of us had even gotten a hint of what this demon looked like, it had yet to emerge from the darkness of the abandoned K-Mart. The second issue we had was the

Chapter 146
The three of us stood outside of the large bay door leading into the darkness of the mold infested abandoned K-Mart.  Each of us were in a state of shock as Todd had been snatched by a six eyed demon as he was setting up the spotlight so we could make a plan and exterminate the demon so it would not accidentally or purposely rescue our recently secured demon Sarah.  For the briefest moment of time, we were able to catch a glimpse of the demon beast as it scurried off with Todd in its grasp. As an instant and immediate reaction, Jackson tried to take off and run into the building so he could chase after Todd and more importantly the demon beast that had grabbed him.  My hand grazed his shoulder as he zoomed past me, but lucky for me, Jennifer was ready as well.  She caught the collar of his ratty t-shirt and yanked him back in line.  Jackson threw her a shocked look, wondering why he could not go and take on the demon beast, why we would let Todd get

There was nothing we could do, nothing we should do right now.  It was in our best interest to let the former demon wolf do what it does best and hunt down the demon that had just snatched Todd right out from the light and dragged him into the darkness.  Jackson, even though he was eager to rush in at first, stayed in the position I wanted him, safe and in the light.  We had eyes on the demon beast’s outline and had figured out that the screaming that sounded like Todd’s was actually the demon mimicking the emotionally distressing scream of Todd. As the demon wolf disappeared out of the light provided by the spotlight that Todd setup right before he was snatched, we all watched on to ensure that we were safe but also ready to attack if the demon wolf needed it.  We all clumped together now, we could see the outline of the demon so getting snatched or attacked was not at the forefront of our minds right now.  This was a waiting game, and the waiting w

One could cut the silence with a butter knife, like a samurai sword gliding through a sheet of lined school paper.  The level of discomfort for the three of us had risen to a psychologically damaging magnitude.  Nothing was more important than rescuing Todd from the mimicking demon, he was the asset of all assets.  The time had come, destiny was playing out right now, we were living it and nothing could stop it from taking place now. Jennifer and Jackson eased in closer to the edge of the darkness, flirting with the boundary between safety and certain uncertainty.  Ready and waiting for the wolf to finally make its move, I crouched down and placed a hand on the spotlight.  This was a crucial moment for all of us.  Demon Sarah was just behind the fresh drywall Todd had installed, our precision and accuracy was paramount. I said, “Get ready.  As soon as the wolf strikes, we move in.  Get ready.  Do not be nervous, let that a

Navigating as effectively and efficiently around the poor homeless man that I had just split in half after he came running out of the darkness, the three of us walked briskly into the abandoned K-Mart ready for a fight to save Todd.  On my way in, I snatched up the spotlight and made sure it illuminated every square inch of real estate in front of us, ensuring our path was clear or we would be able to see anything dangerous in our way so that we could work our way around it. Shining the light back and forth, covering my two counterparts from any attacks from drunks or druggies, we pushed in as fast as possible without risking any chance of injury or worse.  Jennifer and Jackson led the charge, side by side, ready to get into the action and accomplish our goal of getting Todd back in one piece.  I took up the rear, providing the light needed and also making sure nothing snuck up behind us as the darkness chased behind our feet. In the distance, as we ru
