“What about those of us headed south? How long until we reach the coast?” Someone already had estimates. “Five days, at our current pace. We can follow the coast farther south-west until we come to the absolute tip of the continent, which would be another two days’ journey, but afterwards...” “Afterwards, we’ll have to follow the southern coast toward the west. We’ll follow it all the way to Ira, and cross Ira to get to Fal’Herim, or better yet, keep following the coast all the way to the Song Clan territory.” “That’s a really, really long trip over land. Twenty days’ journey, maybe.” “But we’ll be following the coast, with our backs guarded by the sea, and avoiding the worst of the Undead. We might even be able to rely on fishing for food.” Chuan said optimistically, though he himself didn’t feel so hopeful on the matter. “Estimates for the east-bound group?” “Nine days to the eastern coast. Fourteen if they head south-east and go all the way

457. Refuge
With the vast majority of the Reserves in desperate need of rest, it fell to the Fifth Legion to protect Refuge City and the one million people who decided to stay with them. The first thing Su Jin did was to take charge of the populace. Everybody was immediately conscripted into their own Refuge City Militia, and set to work clearing debris, scavenging supplies, and building fortifications. In this city, there were no refugees, no non-combatants; everybody was expected to wield a weapon, and everybody was expected to pitch in on securing food, shelter, and fortifications. While not up to par with Imperial Army combat standards, such a Militia was at least as good as ten logistics units in military terms. In terms of scavenging and raising infrastructure, they performed quite admirably… or at least, quite desperately. On occasion a zombie or six might rise from corpses within the ruins and try to eat someone for dinner, but with everyone going around in armed groups,

458. Westward
The South Team following Chuan didn’t have it easy either. They headed for the coast expecting to have an easier time finding food, but the truth was, food was even harder to find. Scavenging teams often returned empty handed or bearing non-edible goods. The reason for this soon became obvious; toward evening of the first day, they encountered a fortified settlement stubbornly hanging on despite the Undead hordes. It took only one glance to see that they had sent out their own scavenger teams, stocked up and turtled up behind increasingly reinforced walls. When Chuan first tried to contact them, they were cheered and thought the military had come to the rescue. Very soon they realized that wasn’t the case and just as quickly, the warmth of their welcomes faded to chilly suspicion. Out of twelve settlements they encountered, four offered to trade, three simply asked them to move on without causing trouble, two asked them for help, two demanded payment for pass

459. Rogue
Remian’s first instinct was to charge in to the Capital and seal the Portal regardless, but then what? In depriving Zar’khan of the wealth he wanted, what would that Dragon Prince do? Seeing the way he attacked the north and the Midlands, an easy guess would be that he’d declare war as always. This would pit Remian’s people against the Dragons, and then he’d have to worry not only about the Dragon Empire, but the interstellar Dras Clan, whose big nest ship was coming in a matter of decades for the very Dragons he’d be at war against. Even if they could fend off Zar’khan and his forces for that long, what would happen to the Wildlands once the Dras Clan arrived? Were they to go to war against the full might of the Draconian Dominion then? Maybe it wouldn’t come to that. Maybe Zor’khan could put in a good word for Remian. Or he could just as easily sell them out and have them for dinner. At this point, Remian wasn’t sure any more. [All right, don’t quarrel. Remian stil

460. Events
That evening, a stealthy team of 9 crept around the ruins of the Imperial Capital, scouting out the positions of Zar’khan’s forces… Meanwhile, halfway across the world, Kae-Taur was spotted talking and laughing with Xue Yueli at a corner of the practice yard. Zhao Feng stalked over, but Kae-Taur saw him coming and quickly bade Yueli farewell. Following that, Zhao Feng and Xue Yueli exchanged sharp words and separated with bad moods. About half an hour’s train ride south of them, Vigil, Snaps, and Cheery opted for a Woofer Class Project that required them to build their own suit of Woofer-type Power Armor, self-adjusting, fully mobile (i.e. powered by battery, rather than plugged into a cable), complete with sensor suites on the headsets, four paws and a tail required. Bonus points would be awarded for fully-functional and useful extra features. For the sake of extra credit, Cheery suggested they add jetpacks at each foot… But cold green eyes were watching the

461. A Call
When morning came, Remian received a call from Sior’khan-dras.“What’s up?” Remian asked over the Comms Array with the Third Prince of the Empire.“I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?” Sior asked.Remian grunted. “It’s too early for the bad news. Give me the good news first.”“Okay. You remember how we expected grandpa and the rest to come pick us up in fifty years with a Tier 9 Dragon Star Nest? So it turns out… the Dragon Star Nest is not coming.”“What do you mean, the Nest is not coming?” Remian stared. “Aren’t your grandparents coming to pick you all up?”Sior’khan-dras shrugged. “Grandpa and the Dras Clan are coming, sure enough, they’re just not coming in a Tier 9 Leviathan-class Star Nest. They’re coming in a Palace.”“A Dras Clan Palace…?!”

462. Tournament Final Result
Predictably, the overall winner of the Tournament was Ghurki’elle, who ended with a score of 3 wins 0 losses, practically trampling all the competition present. He didn’t seem satisfied and kept asking where Darian went, and didn’t seem to believe anyone who told him that Darian had been arrested… Surprisingly, Kae-Taur came away with 1 wins and 2 losses. He beat Wushuang after a difficult fight, and then when he faced Zhao Feng, he didn’t have enough time to recover, was unable to perform at his best and was suppressed to the end. Zhao Feng himself showed an unusual ferocity in the finals, often making daring strikes at the risk of his own safety, and seemed to be on the verge of going berserk. Incredibly, he made a last-minute breakthrough just before his duel with Kae-Taur and vented all his jealous fury on the unsuspecting opponent. His final score was also 1 win, 2 losses. The reason for that was because he forfeited the duel with Wushuang. For whatever

463. Tuskan Trader
The Tuskan in question turned out to be Kanasu-eeroo of the Walrus Tribe, the younger cousin of Mansu-eeroo. “Frankly speaking, I just want to do business.” Kanasu said. “Set up shop and buy some land locally… you know, the usual.” Xiao Yan squinted. “Buy land, you say? And what would your purposes in that be?” “Commercial.” Kanasu spread his flippers openly. “Agricultural. Industrial. Even residential.” “You want to build shops, farms, factories and houses?” “In short, yes. Trust me, when my shop opens, you’ll be happy I did.” “What exactly do you intend to plant, build and sell?” Kanasu-eeroo eyed her for a bit and sighed. “This isn’t going to be quick and easy, is it?” “I want details.” Xiao Yan said firmly. “Well, first I want to build a house for myself, a warehouse and a shop.” “What’s wrong with the houses and shops here?” George asked. “Too primitive. I want all the modern Tuskan convenie

464. Nuts and Bolts and Autofactories
The days passed, and soon it came time for the Tuskans to leave. By then, Remian had returned to see them off, while leaving most of the fleet and forces to escort whatever survivors they could to safety. Ghurki’elle was severely disappointed at not being able to duel Darian again. Tournament or no Tournament, he wanted a rematch. “I have decided!” He proclaimed. “We will stop by again on our return trip! At that time, I will confront him once more!” After the Tournament and ensuing festivities, the Tuskans prepared to leave. They began trading in earnest, mostly buying foodstuffs and plants native to Sorrel II. Some of the younger ones wanted to extend their stay, and even hunt Undead for mana, but their elders disagreed; they had a schedule to keep, and were not permitted to remain. The sole exception was Kanasu-eeroo, whose stay at Sorrel II was something of a Clan trial in regards to his business abilities. Also, he was tasked with overseeing the

465. Tim meets Xiao Yan… sort of?
In the end, Tim refused to lend Remian any money. He paid the entire bill for the Autofactory schematics and licensing himself, registering it under the name of the ‘Sorrelian Migration’. This was the first time Remian and his people were officially referred to as such. As for the tuition fees for Alani, Gary, Siti, Isabella, Jamie and Juni… Remian paid those, but Tim privately informed those very beneficiaries and suggested they pay him back one day. It seemed to Tim that it was unfair of everybody to let Remian pay all the bills. In any case, since the Autofactory licensing was done under the name of the Sorrelian Migration, Tim and Fal’herim could also use them. He immediately called together his staff and ordered the upgrading of all their industrial districts segment by segment. According to his plans, it would take three years and result in a total of 215 Autofactories, each one a towering hulk capable of producing goods entirely automated, though they would ne
