Honor In Vengeance /Jenika
Michael’s POV My eyes widened in astonishment, I have been getting a lot of surprises lately both in the good and bad. I turned to look at Ayla and noticed her forlorn look, she hadn’t caught on with Barb’s words. “Did she spill any clue that could help us in finding Lucille’s present abode?” “No. She claimed not to have the slightest idea about that” Ayla shook her head, staring intensely at me. I had an idea what she was awaiting. A compliment, which I was not ready to give. Her eyes laid heavily on me, watching me in cold wait for a romantic appreciation. I sighed and looked at her, exchanging eye contact this time. “Thanks for a job well done Ayla” I managed to spit out. Her eyes lit up as joy spread through her lens like a molten hot fire and her lips dissolved from a pout into a smile. It caught me and I knew I was falling in a direction that I should not. A path I must not tour as it stands now. My heart was gradually getting chained to a helpless feeling of affection th

Michael’s POV I had barely settled in my office when Joy reported that the Forensic Science were done with their testing. The documents now splayed across my desk made me feel nauseous, if the testing results were of any use to me then I might be on my way to rebuilding the Vikings and conquering Pablo. With a motivated sigh, my hands moved and worked on the documents. Pulling them from each other into single units. They had run five tests in total with the blood sample they had managed to collect from the crime scene. I picked them one after another unable to adequately pinpoint what they meant due to the terms used but one thing was clear. At the bottom of the paper, it read; ‘No previous matches.' I was in a daze, I didn’t quite understand what it meant but I hoped it . Just then a knock on the door got me started on my feet. I let the forensic agent in and took my fear eager as ever to hear what he had to say. He was to brief me on the important parts of the document that may

Pablo’s POV Her lips smacked on mine, pushing her tongue into the hollow of my mouth. Her fingers disappeared under my loose towel to my nether regions. She was doing trying hard to please but it wasn’t working. I pushed her back, holding firmly to her waist. “What’s up? Aren’t you enjoying this? You said you love my touch and the feel of my fingers on your skin leaves you with a shuddering sensation.” “I need a break Kathie. It’s not working. I’ll take a smoke outside, you better get some sleep” “Uhhhh, what’s the problem with you? You are not pleased with me? So what, you wanna go have it with a slut outside!” she grunted and yelled as I pushed her body off mine. I didn’t reply her, all I could think of Don, Smith has not gotten back to me about the case. It should only take him a day to track down Don but he wasn’t getting back. Scott hasn’t come with an update either. I pulled out a stick of my favorite cigarette and lit it, adjusting my towel firmly round my waist. The earl

Michael‘s POV It is often believed that coincidence happen but I am not much of a coincidence believer but I accept it now. How else would you explain two situations that have similar characteristics and which are both very essential to one another occurring at the same time to aid the effectiveness of the other. My directly senior detective was a stout man in his late forties who was overly obsessed with his twin daughters, age five and never ceased to inform me about how they enjoyed watching girly cartoons but would always sit patiently as he watched his football match or late night news, how they would crowd the kitchen trying to help their mother do the dishes or help with the cooking. He would constantly fawn over them as ants to a summer meal. He had been in the Investigation Department for half of his life and he was willing than ever to pass on his legacy to me as je claimed to need more free time to spend with his cuties. On arriving on his office, I met him on a video c

Michael’s POV Words are sometimes futile in expressing how one feels. Right now, I have mixed feelings not knowing if I am worried about who this Don might be, scared to find out it is someone totally different from who I have in mind or happy that I am close to finding out the truth behind an important case. My car screeched to a stop on the tarred road just outside the building, a branch of Internal Affairs that deals with recording of death and birth of the inhabitants of the city. I stared at the case file in my hand and got out of my car. The case was about three siblings; the younger had killed the older to get his trust funds only to get killed while in prison. He was getting a life sentence yet someone had sneaked in to have his head. Who? His younger brother, the last of the three. What do I need to find? The forged death certificate of the suspect, to find out who his supposed next of kin is. “Good morning sir. How may I help you?” “Detective Hastings” I show

Michael’s POV At the rear end of the document was a signed next of kin and it read; Nathan Wellman. My eyes rounded in surprise, was this some kind of trick? Nathan Wellman was a Viking brother, one of the brothers that lived in the villa along with Torrance, Drico and Landon. “I have downloaded it successfully. You should get out of there now.” I couldn’t bring myself to get up instead I kept on staring at the screen. “Mich, are you still there?” “Barb, briefly scan through the document. I think I saw wrong?” “What’s it about” a pause over his end before he replied; “Wow, that’s coming as a shock but we expected something like that, didn’t we?” I gulped my saliva and hurried shut down the page before locking the computer. I picked up the case file I had come with and walked out to the elevator. Was Torrance aware that his brothers disguised their own as dead? Were they really so bitter as to keep their brother a secret while pushing me to find him? My memory was distorted, wer

Michael’s POV I scoffed at his audacity. He seriously thought I didn’t know about his little scheme. I couldn’t understand why he really thought I would not get his game. I pulled out my phone and downloaded the copy of the death certificate that Barb had already sent to me. I turned it over to him and zoomed into the space where he had signed, and placed his name as best of kin to the ‘supposed’ deceased. His eyes rounded in surprise and he began to stutter. “What…has that got to…do with me? How can you be…so sure that I signed…that document?” his eye darted from the ceiling to the floor boards and walls to the chandelier, avoiding my gaze as much as possible for fear that I might see through him. “Who is Don?”I went on without replying him. “I have…no idea. I think this conversation is over. Good day.” he stood up in a fit and made to leave when my words struck him numb. “There’s no need to cover up for him any longer. He has made his decision and is back to help rebuild the g

Michael‘s POV The cruel day had finally come to an end with all its bad and shocking news swept aside in my mind as I relaxed into the fluffy pillow, my back to the soft bed. My meeting with Barb and Ayla was too commence soon and I couldn’t bring myself to get up from my bed and welcome them in. My mood was sour, not necessarily because of the news of Nathan’s collaboration into feigning a death and acting all innocent, instead it was Ayla. Something about her seemed off, other than the fact that she had not the usual enthusiasm she normally did when I talked to her few hours ago. Behind that dull voice, I sensed fear of the unknown and I had not an idea where it originated from. The Ayla I know was strong, brave and courageous, neither wavering nor getting intimidated easily. For her to have such tone; something of serious magnitude had happened and she wasn’t going to tell me. “Miss Ayla is here with Mr Barb sir. They are currently in the living room” a maid said to me, bringing

Michael’s POV The alarm brought my sleep to stand still. Just when the sleep was getting all the more enjoyable, I had to get up for work. My back was on fire and my muscles ached as I flexed them around in my quick morning exercise. I had gone to bed happy about Ayla’s agreement to help with Lucille’s case and waking up I had the hope that the day would hold sweet things for me. As I got into my suit and pants, I wished it was weekend, weekdays were living hell, having to come in contact with people, make relationships, exchange pleasantries, meet up to the boss’s standards while getting your personal corner set up perfectly. I needed a break and weekend was offering it on a platter of full enjoyment. I get to relax from office work, meeting people and even my own investigation. I pulled my tie into a knot by my throat and shoot my suit arms to ensure comfort in my clothes; that was the least I could do for myself. Carrying my briefcase, I strode to my car outside the house ticki

Michael’s POV “Michael, how is the new office treating you?” A colleague, from my previous division of work, greeted over the counter as I walked in. “It’s really nice over there.” I responded with a smile On getting to my office, I pulled open the blinds and let in the morning air to aerate the stuffy room. I settled into the armchair and unbuttoned my suit, I really need some added strengths for today’s work. The telephone chimed continuously signaling a call; I stretched and picked it up, answering the call. “Junior Detective Hastings” “Here; who is speaking please?” “Senior Detective Walker on the line. I received the case file early this morning and was wondering if you were chanced enough to come up and see me” “Oh, sure. Absolutely, I just got to work. I will make my way up to your office in two minutes” The line cut off and I dropped the receiver back in its place. I picked up my phone and sent a message to Torrance, I had tried his line on my way to work but he had n
