Chapter 10: Ninurta and Azag
We saw Halen burn. The closer we got to it, the clearer the screams and sounds of collapsing got and the more they intensified, the more the hope of salvation faded away. The barracks was mostly vacant too, people who had been too afraid to go back to Halen, had finally taken the plunge to make final attempts for saving their hometown.Once again, I lagged behind Chopper, watching his strong back. Somehow his sense of justice and morality came off to me as very raw and coarse. I don't think I could perfectly agree with many of his decisions."Chopper-san", once we stood outside Halen, watching it burn, I asked, "was this the only way?""No", he looked unfazed, "but this was the fastest.""Then what you said back there...do you really not care at all?""Yeah. Selfishness isn't a sin but it is worth fighting against. There's a chance that none of this needed to happen but the collateral damage is too much to ignore. Sometimes avoiding trouble isn't an answer.""What about Eso and grandf

Chapter 11: Soul Eater
Chopper led the way, opening the door and entering, barely cautious. I followed him keeping my guard up at all times. There was barely anything intact inside the building. Upon entering, I noticed that the roof had caved in and we were bathing in the sun that was rather mild and cold today. Inside presented to us an image of an ancient sanctuary. It was revolutionary inside compared to the outside, in that it was filled with life. With vines covering most of the rubble and grass growing in corners and between tiles, I could tell it wasn't a natural growth yet somehow it didn't feel bad. That peace was short lived though. Soon, we found ourselves standing in front of a tall, dark haired, noble looking man. Despite his impressive gracefulness, he still appeared conniving to some degree and even in all the charm he possessed, something about his disposition was utterly disgusting. I couldn't quite tell you what it was. Perhaps the fact that he stood on an elevated place, among the rubble

Chapter 12: The Man Carrying the World
I was in a daze for what seemed like a billion centuries after that. I thought my soul had been sucked away and I was making my way into the demon's belly but then I noticed I could see Chopper crashed on the ground. He had managed to push me away and prevented my soul from being devoured. Chopper was on the ground and bleeding heavily but he was still conscious, I believe, at least way more than I was.I think I tried to call out to Chopper at the best of my ability but it probably only came out as a mumble because he didn't even look my way. I noticed at some point that Azag was talking with him about something. I tried to focus my vision, sharpen my hearing, gain control of my senses, all the while looking at Chopper. If only he wasn't hurt this bad...if I had done something...no if only...if only I was stronger. I wished Chopper wasn't hurt this bad.And then I closed my eyes because I knew he wasn't gonna make it and the thought of it made me terribly sad. I felt like something u

Chapter 13: The Dog
Somehow, Chopper managed to drag me out of that place. There were ample supplies for dressing in that town. We took shelter in one of the vacant houses and treated our injuries. Chopper had lost his arm and every time I looked at it, I was in pain. He, having exhausted himself, went to sleep soon after. I foraged for some food and managed to find plenty of it. I thought it would be better if we had a nice meal before leaving and maybe even pack something for the road. It had begun to rain outside. When Chopper woke up, we had a hot meal which tasted heavenly. It is indeed true that hunger is the best spice."Are we leaving, Chopper-san?", I asked him over the meal."Yes""But what about...Azag? He's still at large. We haven't-""Lady said we have to kill Fennerick. She never spoke about Azag. So we're done.""But even so, isn't it too careless?!""I'm returning you to Lady tomorrow. Don't make me repeat myself."I truly felt like a baggage that he just wanted to get rid of.We set out

Chapter 14: Corsen
"..."He could vaguely hear some very distant noises. He had yet to gain the ability to see perfectly but he noticed a silhouette through his half delirious state of mind. He tried to sit up or take control of his senses but that was beyond help."...sen!""Corsen!", he finally distinguished someone calling that name, "Corsen! Is he awake?"The silhouette moved at the sound and approached the door as he lay in his bed, watching it. He focused his vision a bit more. The silhouette was bright red or so he imagined."Could you keep it down?", the silhouette opened the door and scolded whoever was making a ruckus of it. She said some other things which he couldn't distinguish. He struggled to lift himself up, having gained a considerable percentage of his conscious."Ah!", Corsen noticed him and moved towards him, "You're awake...Jack!"He looked at Corsen's face who was leaning down to check on him. She had the reddest hair he'd ever seen. She shone like a sun engulfing the desert on the

Chapter 15: The Doubting Man
"Why are you sitting here? I thought you wanted to see His Majesty", Corsen hung over him before he knew it, "Though this is somewhere I expected to find you.""I didn't come along to see the King", Jack lifted his gaze from the endless garden spread before him."You're doing well so I thought it'd be nice to let the King know of your services", Corsen sat beside him on the little stone fence, "Do you miss this place?""Aren't you supposed to be in court? I thought the King summoned all his knights", Jack avoided her question."His Majesty probably just wanted to see Wolfe. He trusts him so much after all. I doubt he'd notice I sent in a proxy.""Corsen", Jack paused for a thought, "Are you happy here?"Corsen looked at him, then moved her eyes back to the endless flowerbeds."Yeah", she nodded, closing her eyes, "Now that you're here.""I don't get it", he replied, looking at his hands that felt fresh and light as they were now unbandaged, "Even if you say we were lovers, I can't rem

Chapter 16: Loser Jack
"Corsen", Jack called her name as they walked through the thicket with Corsen leading the way."I know", she stopped moving, putting up her guard."We need to get down", Jack slowly approached her. There were hostiles nearby. A part of them had been expecting that. Corsen and Jack had gone to the castle to deliver Wolfe's message to the Lord. The tensions rising in the country could not be ignored any longer."How many are there?", Jack whispered to her. However, before she could open her mouth, a horse jumped over the tall bushes they were hiding behind. The two looked back in shock as a white horse neighed. The master holding its reins smirked, conceitedly."What? Are you Beasts just hot air after all? Hiding like that, how pathetic!", he laughed. This young man was clad in bright steel armor and his golden hair shone brightly in the sun. Still, the look he carried in his eyes was of utter disgust."Knights of the Round Table", Corsen said as she stood up straight, facing the man."

Chapter 17: Jack's Departure
"Answer me!"Jack wondered what was shaking him so roughly. It interrupted his dreams and he was greatly annoyed by it."Why won't you let us be at peace? I'm so tired", he was thinking. He imagined he had said it to whatever was disrupting his peaceful time but in reality, Jack was just a husk. His eyes were open and he was breathing but he was not there."Oi!", a strong blow crushed his dreamland and sent him flying. He was finally brought back and he attempted to get up, gaining sight in his eyes and awakening his mind. But the first thing that headed to his senses was pain, unbelievably excruciating pain and he was at a loss at how to let it out. He wanted to scream but voice won't come to him. He couldn't even groan, something was stuck in his throat. He found it hard to breath and his whole body felt awfully numb."Where is she?!"Jack looked back with all the strength he had left in him."Who's that?", he couldn't believe what he was seeing.Wolfe had never looked like that bef

Chapter 18: Who's the Fool?
"Jack, I don't want to die.""I'm sorry.""Jack, I want to see you smile again.""I'm sorry.""Jack, would you come with me?""Corsen...I'm so sorry.""Chopper-san!", my voice called him back to the now. I had been silently watching him sitting like that in front of the tombstone. I barely had it in me to hold out any longer than this."Chopper-san", I walked closer to him, "We should get going."He had been sitting like a kid in front of whoever's grave that was. The one worded Corsen wasn't enough for me to know if that person was even human to begin with."Chopper-san, should we stop to rest?", I asked him further along the way. We had been silent for far too long."No, let's just go see Lady already."He replied briefly. I don't know how, despite our wounds we made it back so early. The sun was throwing it's first rays on Mercae clock tower when we made it back to the church. As always, it was misty and foggy around the green mound where the cave-like-church was.Opening the door,

Chapter 19: Beyond My Horizon
"I believe people cannot stand the idea of not being noticed. They don't realize so often that the race is over. Seraph, have you ever walked in the middle of the road in bright daylight?""Eh?...No...""That's instinct. Even if you were left blindfolded on a road, you would instinctively walk towards a side. That's what's drilled into us. But real freedom is in the middle, where you are exposed and vulnerable. On all sides, there's a world, unknown to you but also fully known by you. It's beautiful, don't you agree Seraph?""Lady...isn't it lonely, though, on this road to freedom?" ******************I have been going around the capital a lot these days. Sight does many chores around town, all on Lady's orders of course and he asked me if I wanted to tag along. I think he'd been wanting to take my mind off of Chopper. Every time I train with his blade, I can't help but wonder what he's up to now.Deli had been helping me train.
