10 Million Ways to Get Caught, Choose One
There has never been a sound more smoothing to me than the sound of the ocean crashing up onto a shore. Maybe that’s why I’ve dreamed about it so much in my life. It never really leaves my mind even when I’m not close to it. I was sitting Indian style on the beach in a pair of shorts and nothing else. My eyes closed and the rest of the world nowhere around me. The sand was like sitting on the most comfortable cushion every imagined. Waves broke and crashed all around me as I sat in my own solitude. Opening my eyes I could see the rolling waves as the sun came up over the ocean ever so slightly. No master would ever be able to capture such a beautiful sight no matter how hard they tried to paint it. In slow motion I turned around and saw nothing but a small patch of sand and more ocean. My heart started to race and my breath became short as I spun around and could only see the sun over the ocean no matter which direction I looke

All the World Is A Stage, Sometimes
In school I loved to act. It was a side passion to be in front of people as they watched you intently bring something to life. Anything that had to do with Shakespeare or Broadway was always something to get me exited to do. Even though I ended up in the logical world for my profession, my love for the performing arts had never died. Street lights passed over and over, more and more slowly, as my left eye opened. The car I was in started to come to a stop and was turning left. Opening the other eye I started to sit up when I realized my jaw was in excruciating pain. Yelling out in pain my left hand went to my jaw. “Ouch! Shit!” Bob looked back from the driver’s seat. “What the hell happened? I feel like I got nailed in the face with a sledge hammer.” “Yeah, well, that hammer was my fist.” He laughed a bit at the thought. “I had to knock your ass out!” I was trying to remember everything that had happened. It

Blue Eyes Are Better Than None
Not just any blue, but the crystal blue that is almost see through and has a hypnotizing effect. I’ve always been a sucker for a woman with a set of eyes like those. Saying I’ve been bewitched by them several times would be the best way to describe it, almost as if I was destined to find one pair in particular. Across from the bar Riled was an alley. Normally, an Aston Martin would be noticeable anywhere it went. In a black Aston Martin in the shadows of an alley, it was almost invisible with the darkness engulfing it. Watching the front door, I waited for the girl with the blue eyes to walk out. Through the moving foot traffic inside the bar I could catch glimpses of her sitting with the people I had left her with earlier that night. She was staring off over the shoulder of her friends whenever she wasn’t being talked to and my imagination kept picturing her in deep intelligent thought. Sliding in a CD of mixed classical music

What Dreams May Come And Go
Vivid sparkling dreams of fantastic creatures, both good and bad, have plagued me since I could remember. Every dream was so real and detailed I could wake up screaming or smiling depending on which way that day and night had gone. The doctor’s always said I just had an overactive imagination. Water. Water was trickling down my face. All I could see was pitch black darkness. I wasn’t sure where the water was coming from, but it was all over me. Had I just got out of the shower or a pool or a sauna, I kept asking myself. Wiggling my fingers I opened my eye a little at a time, blinking to let my vision clear. It could have been morning with all the light coming through. Clearing, my vision returned and I saw Bob, Remy and Alley over me. Bob had an empty water glass in his hand and was slapping my face trying to get me to respond. I grabbed his arm. “You can stop now.” He put his hand down. “Oh, sorry

Smoke and Funhouse Mirrors
Every child ever born dreamed of what it would be like to be greater than everyone else. Every century saw something different for children to dream about in that fashion. My generation grew up with super heroes from comic books to television. Falling asleep at night I remember desperately asking God to give me the powers of Superman so I could be the super hero that saved all my friends and family in separate peril. Dreams of what you could do and all the people you could help as a young innocent child seemed to spur us on and our imagination into a frenzy. It had been two days since I destroyed the two way mirrors in my room. They were watching me from behind the glass of the interrogation room every single second of the day. In my mind could see eight high definition, high speed cameras behind the mirrors pointed at me. The number of people watching and taking notes had quadrupled and that number was still on the rise. They were good e

This Was Not the Real McCoy
When I was young I liked to sneak around in the dark wearing black clothes to see how good I was at concealing myself.  I got pretty good at hiding in the shadows and figuring out even where to hide in the light to not be noticed.  Sometimes the most obvious spots were the best spots not to be seen.             Sitting on a step, I stared over the railing of the stairwell looking down at the door I had to go through in order to find out the information we needed, I had no idea how many people were in the room.  It had been an hour since I had seen the inside of it and McCoy probably got his reinforcements approved so there was no telling the count of people in that room.             Remembering the layout of the room in detail, all the tables were covered with laptops and paperw

And Like That, He Was Gone
Remembering the tagline ‘Who is Keyser Soze?’ always gave me good feelings.  A tagline that really represents the entire plot of a film and is a blueprint for how to deceive people, it was such a coupe.             Matt and Bob were walking out of a Federal building in Washington D.C. looking very haggard and both had black bags under their eyes.  Watching them walk forward to the car made me excited for what I was about to do.              Bob, as usual, walked to the driver’s side door of the rented BMW while Matt hopped into the passenger seat.              “That was fucking nuts,” Bob blurted out as soon as his car door was shut behind him.

Waking Up Alone, Is Not As Hard As To A Letter
Relationships have never really been my strong suit.  I was always more partial to casual acquaintances than I was to getting involved with someone.  There was never a connection with anyone that made me feel like I could forget about everything else if she was just with me every waking moment.  That is, until she came along and hypnotized me into thinking she was my only desire.             Sleep moved around my eyes as I blink furiously trying to wake up.  Not really remembering what it was that happened the night before was nothing new.  The room was dark as I sat up and rubbed my hands over my lids.  What did I do last night?             Swinging my legs off the edge of my bed, I remembered.  Delilah was what happened to me that night.  Reaching back

If I Could Be In Two Places At Once, Oh Wait, I Can
Movies had always fascinated me as a child and as an adult.  One of the many things that makes a human stand out, on this planet, is the unbound imagination.  Maybe something couldn’t physically exist, but there was a way for someone to figure out how to make it exist in people’s minds.  Six months had passed since my 21st birthday.  It didn’t really seem like that long sometimes and other times it felt much longer.  The first month or so, after that night, was spent in what seemed to be a coma for everyone else.  For me it was in another bizarre world deep within my own mind.  What was a month for everyone else was actually a few months for me.  Spent trying to find my way out. My keepers had spent a lot of time testing me for everything imaginable.  The best were the psychological evaluations I’d been subjected to every other day.  I did t

To Be or Not To Be, Caught
Always thinking to myself, why prolong the inevitable?  If it was going to happen anyway then there was no reason to postpone it.  That would just end up being a waste of time.              “Yes, Bob,” my irritation level was well beyond the point of frustration.  “I do understand what you are saying, but you’re not hearing me.  This is just how it has to be.  It happens no matter what we do.”             “That’s the part I don’t understand,” Bob yelled out.              “Yeah, mate.  This is all getting ridiculous!”  Matt had his say as well.             “Look,” trying to be calm to keep them calm, “they have someone that is
