Got shot
Henry hissed in pain and discomfort as Louis tended to his wound by pouring half a bottle of alcohol over it and bandaging it. At that moment, he was regretting not shooting off the head of the shooter who shot him. Henry won’t obsess over it; all was fair in love and war. Besides, he’d already killed a good number of them. He wrapped his arm around himself, looked out the window of the plane, and tried to get his bearings. Henry made a mental note to use a helicopter the next time. Jumping down and up a plane with a rope wasn’t very ideal.“You’re good, boss.” Louis patted Henry’s arm and stood up.Henry watched him walk to the pilot’s cabin; he was sure Louis was checking the course they were taking and probably redirecting them if need be. It was unnecessary; the pilot was a good one.Louis came back and spoke to the rest of the men. They had been reduced to a minimal amount of three, and Louis wanted to know what happened to the remaining five. One of the men spoke in favor of oth

New Task
“We’re here sir,” the driver said.Henry slowly turned his head to the window and saw that he had gotten to the bus stop. He paid the driver and came down from the taxi, taking a moment to relish in the fresh air of a less busy street. He had wanted to trek home, but the wound in his lower abdomen would stretch and linger if he exerted his energy for too long, so he had opted for taking a ride that’d stop a mile away from his house.Henry walked slowly, merely out of perseverance than duty. He wanted to savor the moment, to enjoy nature. There were plenty of things to enjoy. The bark of a tree, the misty smell of grass and the flowers that seemed to spring back under his foot. Henry smiled; he knew he would be a romantic man.His surroundings started to phase out around him, like a slowly distorted shape, and he knew that he was being assigned a task. Henry stood still, waiting for his vision to change with the environment, to adjust to it. It used to freak him out before, how he’s o

Female Fighter?
Henry wrapped a fresh bandage on his wound, tightening in place to make sure that it won’t loosen. He gently probed at the area to ascertain that the pain was minimal and would fade soon. He glanced at the tablets of pain relief on his sink, then looked back at the mirror to examine himself. When the female fighter had hit him on his wound, Henry feared he may have cracked a few ribs. He had rushed home and unwrapped the bandage so he could properly disinfect and redress the wound. He’d decided that a hospital may be nice, but they would ask too many unnecessary questions.“And then there’s the matter of papers,” Henry said to himself. “They would immediately call the police so I could file a report. We can’t have that now, can we?”He left the kitchen and strolled lazily to his bedroom. Henry slowly removed the rest of his clothing. He laid on his bed and turned his face into the pillow. His sore muscles relaxed at the cool bed and he suddenly seemed sealed or strength. His body ache

Meditation
Henry’s loneliness gnawed deep at him by the time he got to the foot of the mountain. He wanted someone desperate to speak with, so he started to speak with himself. He caught himself doing it a couple of times, and it amused him. Henry knew that it would take only take a matter of time before he got used to it completely. He climbed up the mountain with labored breath and wondered if he should get a dog. As soon as the thought came, he banished it. The poor thing would die of lack of affection. Henry wouldn’t have that. The path of the mountain was slippery, so Henry had to several times grab onto tree branches or tree bark to keep steady. He easily ran out of breath, and the cold air tested his patience.“It’s just for your daily task,” he told himself. “Remain calm, get there and get the tasks done.”“Easier said than done,” Henry said, mimicking an inner voice as he contradicted himself. “It’s like the whole fucking mountain is against me.”“I mean, that’s inky natural,” he replie

Task completed
In his state, Henry knew he’d been granted the sacred gift of time—being in that time and space and being completely attuned with your environment. He heard the long call of a bird, the gust of wind that swept through his hair and whispered secrets that were yet to be uncovered. He felt seen, yet not seen, but in that in between space of the beyond. It was more than just mediation, it felt like a spiritual journey. He was in the delve of his own consciousness, guided by three distinct paths of mediation, one he would take each day. There was a metal box before him. In his mind, Henry would reach out and touch it, caress it like a lover. He would call it names that would pass over it, because it was just a metal. The first task appeared in his mind’s eye. It was a path to self-cultivation. It was interesting, the thing the mind can do. The way it would nurture with unwavering determination, such that you would see the object of your desire within reach. That moment, the object of

Session
Henry closed the door behind him and leaned against it for a moment. The silence and loneliness again washed through him, but this time it was different. It wasn’t the sort of loneliness that came with being so alone that he usually delves into his blurred realities and imaginations. It was the sort that came with that echo of silence, a dead, mischievous silence. He was suddenly suspicious. Something was not right, and he knew.It may be his mediation session that had been attuned to his senses, or because he’d neglected everything at home for so long that he could not be able to decipher where the problem was coming from. Henry dropped his backpack on the living room cushion, and then slowly walked through the house. He made his steps as silent as possible, moving like a thief in the night, except at that very moment he felt like an invigilator that was about to uncover something unpleasant. He knew he would not like it, his instincts screamed so. The still air, the unnatural quiet.

Jealous?
He grabbed her from behind and swung her around; quickly jamming the door close before she had a chance to escape. He was stronger and faster than she was, so he caught her right before she jumped out of the house. It seemed funny that she was at his mercy now, and he was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that she was trying to escape. Henry threw her down on the cushion and waggled a finger at her.“Don’t you make any attempt to escape? It’ll only intensify the situation and I’ll be forced to bash your head against the wall.”Mrs. Cavil threw her head back and tried to catch her breath; she seemed more upset that he had caught her than bashing her head on the wall. Henry had the impression that she would very much have preferred to be bashed against the wall than caught in her act, which brought him back to the question he’d been itching to ask the moment he saw the open suitcase on the bed.“Why are you trying to run? Why are you packing? Didn’t you say you’re going to s

Feedback
“Louis, I need you to track down someone for me. Contact the tracker and have this done effectively.”“Yes sir,” Louis answered Henry. The voices in the background of his own end made him move to a quieter place so he could speak on the phone call. “What is the name of this person?”“Jerry Cavil. Check your message. I sent a detailed description accompanied with a picture of what he looks like.”“Yes, sir.”“Give me a positive feedback within four hours; he’s probably escaping the country and I want him captured as soon as possible.”“Are we doing the capturing, sir?” Louis asked determinedly.“No, leave that to me.”Henry cut the call and dropped his phone into his pocket. He had restless energy stored within him, and he needed to let it out. He contemplated asking Louis to send the tracker to him so he could handle this personally, but he didn’t want to be on a direct contact with the tracker. He sipped his coffee; more out of his devotion to it than the need to. Henry was distresse

Give me the Job
Evelyn entered Henry’s company with the determination that came with weeks of planning ahead. She wanted to see him, and she wanted to see him now. She had sent him plenty emails, and he never answered. His office desk kept postponing her calls, saying he wasn’t available for a meeting. How could he not be available for so many weeks? She had sent so many complaints that were not met, and now she decided to come herself, to meet him personally instead. Booking an appointment with him was harder than she thought, and his numerous secretaries didn’t even know she had been the one who called the previous day. It was exhausting. When she got into the office, she walked past the reception desk as though she knew where she was going. She did know where she was going, but she knew that she would not get to the end of it. Henry’s office was bound to have a secretary or two before she could be guided in. Evelyn didn’t know how she would make it work and convince them to let her s

Dead
Henry passed a plate of food under the bars of the dungeon to Mrs. Cavil. She hid her face away from him. Henry leaned against the wall as he looked at her pitiful stature. It looked as though he hadn’t seen her in ages, meanwhile he passed her food regularly. He wondered if it was because she looked dirty, hadn’t showered or had a proper meal. He supposed she deserved it. She had been too stubborn, too uncompromising, and she never took him in like he wanted her to. It was such a regret, Henry thought, that she would end up the same way as her son did.He just hadn’t gotten the idea of how to make away with her first, but he could endure a few decades or her being locked down below, away from the lights.“How are you holding up?” Henry asked her?She said nothing, hid her face instead and stretched out her hand for the food. She ate slowly, ignoring him and the cockroaches at her feet.“You’ve got company,” Henry mocked. “it’s funny, I used to have them too. I guess they’ve come to b
