Chapter 021
Marcus had watched Huncho drive out of the street. He waited a bit, until he could not see the taillights of the car anymore. He walked slowly as he came up to the door of his home. He wondered what his wife was doing inside right at that moment. Marcus paused briefly at the place where Chantelle and Richard had just stood. He stood rooted at that point. His mind was wavering. He stood for a while until he decided to be firm in his heart. He had a plan and he was standing by it. He would watch it play out, and hopefully it was going to turn out well for him. Marcus smiled at that moment. He was still going to trust his mind. If his father and sister were there right now, they would have shook their heads at him. Marcus, though smart and mature, had always had a soft spot for his wife. This had been obvious through the way he had lived with her before his status changed. He was bullied by her parents and he didn't even stop him from still loving her.

Chapter 022
Chantelle remembered the last time Marcus lost his job, and the considerably long time before he got another one. Marcus had been working in a hotel. His work was helping to clean up after people left their rooms both temporarily and also permanently. He also helped bring up things that people who lodged in the hotel wanted, like food and other items. Marcus has always been a hard worker. His colleagues did not like him because of the energy he put into the work. They all believed being lackadaisical was the way out, so they were surprised at the amount of energy Marcus put into it. Marcus had always been like that in all his previous jobs. Working hard, while his coworkers did not like him for one reason or the other. The only different thing this time around was that his boss, a lady, did not have any problem with him. In fact, she even liked him. Marcus was the most consistent hard worker in the hotel. She liked him because he could always be co

Chapter 023
Marcus understood why Miss McCall had to fire him. It was his fault. He should not have even waited in the room immediately he found out Melissa was in the bathroom. What was he even thinking? He had a beautiful woman at home waiting for him. Thinking of his wife right then, he had a headache as he was leaving the hotel after he dropped his work clothes after he was fired. He had sighed. He remembered when he was going to marry Chantelle. All the promises he had made to her. Now, he was not even close to fulfilling any of them, and he was fired, again. Marcus could already picture the pain in her eyes when he told her about the loss of his job. He was definitely not going to explain the circumstances that led to him being sacked, to her. Marcus had gotten home that day and explained his current status to his wife. Chantelle had cried. It was a lot. She was not living the life she had expected when she married Marcus. She remembered those pa

Why did his boss's wife call him this late? Countless thoughts had flown in Mr Luiz’s mind ever since he had talked to Chantelle. He was scared. This was in contrast to whenever he went out, to work or any other place. His clothes were already stained with sweat as he rushed out to his car. Mrs Luiz watched his back as he ran out of the house. Once Mr Luiz got into the car. He switched it on and literally flew out onto the road. His boss's house was not too far from his house. Chapter 025
“I'm coming,” Chantelle answered the knock on the door while walking to the door. Marcus was left alone in the sitting room. He looked all over the room, he saw everything in the room, but he did not see them. There was a wall-wide television in the room. This was gifted to him by his parents-in-law when he got married to their daughter. The clothes strewn across the center table. It was a small oak coated wood. It had been passed down through the generations of the Krafth family. The chairs, also an evidence of the continuity of things of his family. They looked really luxurious. Marcus has always wondered about them. Marcus's place with his wife, Chantelle, was not big. It was, however, comfortable. Even though they had had a rough couple of years, they still managed to survive through everything. They had also had helpers, ranging from Chantelle’s parents, to others who just wanted to show a modicum of good will to them. Marcus was lost in thoug

Chapter 028
Chapter 028 Juliet had always been one to dream. Ever since she was a little girl, she had been a dreamer. It must have been because of the jet lag and the stress of the day, but she had a terrible night. Juliet had a nightmare the night she got back to Lagos. She had immediately fallen on her bed inside the three bedroom detached duplex. She just removed the outer pull over she had on and all that was left was the long free gown she had on. Juliet had woken up with a scream. The closest guard around her was right outside the door. He didn't dare to enter. He just stood watch outside. When he heard the scream he was startled, and immediately went for the door. He immediately paged some other guards close to Juliet's room, “You all should come over!!” He had screamed into the pager. Juliet however, was quick to regain her senses when she woke up. She immediately ordered the guard, “Wait! There's no need to come inside. It was just a dream,” she

Chapter 029
Juliet's mood was still down, but she knew it would get better in time. She rolled out of bed, stretched her body and looked in the mirror. She liked what she saw in the mirror. Even though her eyes still showed traces of fear, she still looked good. The only odd thing about her right then was the gown she wore to bed. It was a new day. She has a lot to do in Lagos, and knowing Lagos and the movement of people, she has to get there in time if she was going to drive or be driven there. She went into the bathroom. The pace looked just as he remembered it. Everything was layered in a coat of dark gold. The tiles, the shower, the sink, the toilet, the bath tub. Juliet got the water ready after she brushed her teeth. She added a lot of scented soaps and oil which would make her body feel good and her skin too. She got into the tub after sliding the gown off her shoulders. There was no one who could spy on her, so she felt really secure and safe. Juli
