A NEW DAWN
The Allfather was looking at his screen, proud of how far he had come.He had announced himself to the world with the help he coerced from the World Commissioner for Health, to let them know that there was someone known as the Allfather, that he was coming and that they were all going to feel it, knowing it was him. He was so close to wiping humanity, and purging the Earth of these ridiculous, strangely intelligent, four limbed beings. All that would remain would be the preselected members of his special race whom he had taken the pains to program genetically, so that they would remain unharmed even when attacked by the zombies. For the first time in long, his mind went to them. They were represented by purple dots, largely unnoticed by him over how few they were on the screen, well outdone by the red that indicated the zombies. His eyes went to Middlestown, which had long been turned into a desert area without a single human or zombie, and there he could count three, still in the ve

THE BERMUDA CATASTROPHE
“Breaking news,” cried the journalist whose image and voice projected from the television early that morning at 5 AM. “News reports reaching us speak of a ‘Bermuda Catastrophe', which refers to some kind of mysterious activity that suggests the sea may have developed an appetite for ships and all forms of marine craft this night.”On and on he rambled about a potential holdup over the hours of the night that had brought some kind of chaos over the seas and sent the Universal Marine SOS Helpline into a standstill, with SOS calls issuing from practically every ship that had set sail, and even reports of some aeroplanes missing.“What is happening is yet to be ascertained, but it is our hope that morning will bring us the answers we need, and our loved ones as well.” The man finished, nodding his head in that professional way akin to journalists. Two men sat before the television in the lifeguard room, both of them professional lifeguards working on the Perania Beach, an expanse of land

THE CONTROL ROOM
Phil was the first to get in, and he locked the door so quickly that Aaron, who was only a few paces behind, hit uselessly against the hard wooden door.“OPEN THE DOOR. OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR.” Aaron cried, panicking as his fists drummed against the barrier that stood between him and safety, even if for a few minutes. The door had still not opened, and he dared to turn and look at whatever was coming from behind, his heart thumping in his chest. They were drawing even closer, and the sheer number stunned him — so many that every inch of the beach was lined with them. He could also see what they were with the rising sun : octopuses larger than anything he had seen, giant sea worms that looked like mighty tubes with teeth on one end squiggling through the sands, jellyfish whose size were also terrifying, eels squiggling their way on the sand and humans, if they could be called humans, when they were better fit to be called zombie men from the sea.He did not wait for Phil to open the doo

IOSO'S END
Ioso had not fared any better. The few people in the streets that night had seen the zombie that had been Julian Hernandez howling through the streets and made their runs from it, only to find themselves before the zombies coming from the lake, including the zombies from the eighty-seven people who had disappeared around the lake. That was the exact time when the true pandemonium started. They started to run all over, yelling and crying out in panic, while the creatures for the lake attacked all the people they could, even breaking into houses and turning the sleeping people into prey. The governor was a busy man, and was sitting awake that night, pouring over some office work when a call from Jose Mateo alerted him to the danger they faced, “You have to get away. Those zombies are attacking us.”There was no time to think for him. He woke up his sleeping wife and daughter from their slumber, got them in his car, cocked a loaded gun which he used to warn all of the housekeepers to st

ANOTHER ONE...
Aaron remained where he lay as they drew closer. They seemed to fill everything and everywhere as they moved inwards and even further into land from the sea they came from. As they moved, the sea animals infected by the virus made no sound to alert him that they were coming — only the human zombies did that, and his attempt to run and get away before they reach him could only carry him a few steps further before he fell into the sand once more, defeated. He would have tried to move again had four fingers not curled around his foot to pull him, and when he felt even more hands on him, the tears ran down his face as his pleading fingers dug uselessly into the sand. He gathered the courage to look at what was pulling him, and there was the now familiar, rotting face of a zombie as it screamed at him.His entire body pulsed as he screamed back as if in response, until there were so many grasping at him. At last, he felt it. The pain of teeth going in his neck.It burned him so much that

AT THE MEETING
It was now the World Military's turn to dance to the music. This was a global threat meant to annihilate all life, and it became their duty to fight and keep the world safe from the zombies. The onus fell upon the highest ranking general in the world, General Pierre Antoine Emile to take control, and he was soon at the headquarters of the World Military with other high ranking generals and ministers of defence so they could plan their strategy. He was the last to go into the room, where a crowd of important men sat in a conference room, with a free podium for fun to mount. Thankfully, all journalists were kept out in this closed door meeting, and he began to speak.“We have gathered here because we are suffering from a global threat. Even as we speak, people are dying in the streets of every coastal area in the world. We need to muster a force and mount an attack as quickly as we can.”None said anything. They were just as terrified. The General had the projector on, and they started

OPERATION VULTURE STRIKE
Those twenty-four hours were a crucial time for any people escaping the zombies. Governments sent aid to help in clearing those who remained, as many were unlucky to have been reached by the zombies first. It was an affair that could not be helped much, especially in situations where the choice was hard. Sometimes, the helicopters and planes got so full that some people had to be left behind to the mercy of the approaching zombies, and others were too slow to get to the waiting aid. There were even more pathetic situations, like one where the two waiting aeroplanes were only yards away from the zombies and the people rushing for help. Pilots of both vehicles decided to wait for the people to get in, until one got so full and waited so long that even the zombies started to climb in. Nothing matched the terror that those already in felt the aircraft refused to move, suffering a technical fault at the wrong time.Finding themselves trapped within an unmoving plane already being attacked

HOW IT FAILED
The Allfather knew that his zombies were being attacked when the numbers started to drop all of a sudden. He had watched the numbers go up at a steady rate with how many zombies were added to the ranks every day with each attack, and now he was sure that he would end the human race with them. His counter gave an exact, real-time number of the zombies:1,889,432,007Composed of a billion sea animals, and a combined number of wild animals, birds, and humans, all moving without rest and covering near a hundred kilometres in a single day, attacking all before them and moving to the one point at the centre of the earth's geometric surface, where his room was.He had done so much to find this room, to build it, and to set up all of this for his goal to end the world. He had stolen the virus from Middlestown, modified it into a virus that would suit his purpose, and infected people with it for months. He could not let some people ruin all his hard work in moments. He could not even afford to

WHO WILL GO
Of the six jet bombers, only three returned.Squadron Leader Henry was the first to land, jumping out of his plane the very moment he landed and taking out his co-pilot, Mary, who had fainted during the operation out of sheer fright. The ground medical operation rushed to take her in just as the other two landed, all of the pilots safe, but shaken by the experience. The other three bomber jets had been lost to the zombies, where the zombie vultures would crowd around the jet, clouding visibility and letting themselves be sucked into the engines. Pointers 3, 6 and 2 crashed in this manner, killing all pilots onboard, and all the staff and officers of the Air Force base all agreed on one thing. The first attempt of Operation Vulture Strike was a failure. The next meeting convened by General Pierre Antoine Emile had fewer people in attendance, as a large number of those at the previous decided that it was useless to fight against the zombies, and the best option was to wait for death to

ON IT
Gloria was the only one who stood at the tombstone as the rain fell in sheets around her, looking at the words engraved upon it.‘ELIZABETH MARGARET HOLSTER. 22ND JULY, 1975 — 5TH OCTOBER, 2024.FRIEND, AND SISTER.MAY ANGELS SING WHERE YOU ARE.’For the first time, Gloria regretted their relationship being a secret. There would probably have been a ‘lover’ in addition to the ‘friend and sister’ had anyone known about them. The guilt that hung over her head was thicker than sackcloth. To see Dr. Elizabeth Holster hanging dead from the ceiling, and to hear the doctor say that she'd been dead for as long as a day could only mean that she had committed suicide out of grief. She had also left no note, so that the only proof of suicide was the fact that no one had broken into the house, and it had been locked from the outside.Only she, Grace, knew why Dr. Elizabeth Holster had died. The Allfather had done much to ruin her, to ruin the both of them. They would still be together and happy
