Chapter 31: Catastrophe descended
After his conversation with Gio, the sawikin had left. That was also when Valeria and Alkan went to their respective rooms. They hadn’t spoken since. If what Gio said was true, it was best that they didn’t discuss Tribal. Alkan immediately believed him—Gio had no reason to lie. So he decided to focus on planning his next move. "You skipped lunch, so I prepared a lot," Valeria said. They were currently eating dinner that his wife prepared for the both of them. Valeria watched him, and when she noticed he had no intention of speaking, she sighed. "Alkan," she called, her voice serious. He looked at her. "Are you avoiding me?" she asked. His hand, holding a spoon, froze mid-air. He blinked and opened his mouth. "No," he said. "Then why won’t you talk to me?" His brows drew together slightly. For some reason, he felt as if a snake were staring him down as Valeria faced him. Her gaze was unfamiliar. It was as if a different person was sitting before him, though it was clea

Chapter 32: Into the fairy kingdom
Gio narrowed his eyes at Alkan as the latter fell from the air. His fists clenched as he frowned. He didn’t like what had just come out of Alkan’s mouth. Why? What was so wrong about saving people? Wasn’t Alkan a human too? Why did he have no concern for his fellow humans? Gio scanned the entirety of San Roque. From the sky, he could see people running, helpless souls who didn’t know how to save themselves from danger. No matter where they ran, there was no direction, no order. It was pure chaos. He shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath. Swiftly, he dived down to chase after the falling Alkan. He cursed under his breath. What was he thinking? Why did he let go of that man? If anything bad happened to Alkan, Manuel would surely kill him. He caught Alkan midair. Peering at the man’s face, he noticed that he was unconscious. Gio sneered. Sometimes, he wondered if the prophecy had made a mistake in choosing Alkan. The man was too weak. How was he supposed to bring down the trib

Chapter 33: The fairy
Alkan glanced to the side and saw a woman floating in the air just like him. She had long hair that cascaded down to her feet, the thick white strands playing in the wind. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when he noticed her pointed ears. Instantly, he recalled the elves he had seen in his favorite anime. He also remembered what a white Sawikin had told him when he was staying at the White Palace: “Fairies have pointed ears.” It seemed he was facing a fairy. Alkan calmed his wildly beating heart and looked down again. He wasn’t new to the sensation of flying; he had just been startled earlier. After all, who wouldn’t be shocked to wake up and find themselves floating in the air with nothing holding them up? From the corner of his eye, he noticed Gio, who was also in the sky. But what puzzled him was that Gio’s wings were not spread—he was instead trapped inside a bubble of wind. It seemed to be the fairy’s doing. Hah. The last thing Alkan remembered was Gio lettin

Chapter 34: Polito
Polito was a fairy belonging to the fairy tribe and the consort of Princess Theresa. He had the power to command both wind and fire. He could also read the minds of ordinary beings. Having just completed his studies in musical instruments, he was leisurely wandering outside the palace. He was picking flowers for his princess when he suddenly felt something warm, wet, and sticky land on his head. It had a strange smell. Polito frowned and looked up at the sky. That was when he saw his Princess Theresa, accompanied by a Sawikin trapped in a bubble of air and a… mortal? His brows furrowed, and without hesitation, he flew up into the air. He studied the mortal standing beside his princess. What was this weak creature planning with his princess? “Polito!” the princess greeted cheerfully. The crease in his forehead disappeared, replaced by a sweet smile. He floated closer to the princess and handed her the freshly picked flowers. “For you, my princess.” The woman lowered her gaze to th

Chapter 35: Wish for power
The fairy landed on one of the terraces of the palace, followed closely by Gio and Alkan, both of whom had been wearing serious expressions for some time. As they approached the palace, they felt a heavy, oppressive sensation—almost as if a powerful being was examining them, trying to determine who they were and what kind of creatures they belonged to."I've captured two beings who used the portal," Polito informed the guard stationed beside the massive doors of the terrace. The guard looked at Alkan and Gio before nodding. "There is currently a meeting taking place inside. You may take the captives to one of the chambers."Polito gestured for them to follow. The two had no choice but to obey, especially with the way the guards were glaring at them. It was clear that this tribe did not trust beings from outside their dimension."Wait here. A guard will come later to bring you before the queen," Polito instructed.Alkan nodded, while Gio averted his gaze. They entered through the golde

Chapter 36: Not worthy of the greatest power
"A trial will determine whether you are worthy of the power I shall bestow upon you. If you cannot overcome it, you will not receive the strength you desire," the queen’s voice echoed as his consciousness began to fade. "Alkan!" Gio shouted as Alkan collapsed....Hot. Wet. And it smelled fishy.Alkan’s eyes snapped open as he felt something licking his face. Darkness greeted him. At first, everything was unclear—where he was and why he was in such a pitch-black place. But he froze when, out of the darkness, he saw a pair of large, glowing red eyes. They moved closer to him, and once again, he felt something wet slide across his face.Wait. Something was wrong.Alkan quickly rolled to the side and stood up straight. Alert, he focused on the creature that owned those red eyes. But with no light around, he couldn’t make out what had just been licking his face.“Gio?” he called into the darkness. The red eyes turned toward him. A chill ran down Alkan’s spine. What kind of creature could

Chapter 37: Delusional
The wolf blew a gust of wind. "Because you have proven yourself worthy of receiving power, I shall grant you the power that is rightfully yours." Alkan's eyes gleamed at what he heard. He no longer questioned who was speaking in his mind or what kind of trial it was referring to. His focus was entirely on the power that was about to be bestowed upon him. "Accept the power I offer you," said the mysterious wolf, and from its body emerged a purple flower. The purple flower floated toward him and entered his body. At that moment, Alkan lost consciousness. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a ceiling adorned with gold. He abruptly sat up. Was it all just a dream? Alkan furrowed his brows. He didn’t think about where he was; instead, his attention was on the power the wolf had given him. He quickly got out of the large bed and went to the terrace. Standing ther

Chapter 38: Sawikin has arrived
Gio stared intently at Alkan. He had no idea what version of Alkan would emerge from the illusion—or how the loss of his ability to feel joy would affect him. ... Thirteen sawikin were currently soaring through the sky of the dimension. Every fairy they passed looked up in curiosity at the unusual sight. Who were these sawikin brazenly flying over the kingdom? Excitement buzzed in the air as they awaited the palace’s reaction. Leading the group was Manuel. Behind him, twelve white sawikin followed as they flew toward the towering palace in the distance. He could feel the force trying to push him down, preventing him from flying any closer. If he were just an ordinary sawikin, he might have been frightened by its power and forced to land. But he was Manuel—the leader of the Twelve Great White Legions. To him, the force pressing against him was nothing more than a mere tickle. "Leader, I just rec

Chapter 39: His changes
The queen's brow furrowed. She did not like the Seer’s accusation against her. She opened her palm, and a purple flower emerged from it. Her eyes narrowed as she stared at the Seer. "If you have no further business here, you may leave," she said in a low voice. She was holding herself back from killing the Seer because she still had a purpose in the palace, but it seemed she had forgotten whom she was speaking to. When the Seer saw the purple flower, she suddenly took a step back, her face paling. Her teeth clenched in frustration. "If you don’t want your kingdom to disappear from the map, you should heed my words! Do not, under any circumstances, harm the mortal who will arrive in this palace!" A mischievous smile formed on the queen’s lips. "You’re too late. A mortal has already come here, and I have taken something from him that I will never return—no matt

Chapter 40: Retrieving his memories from past lives
As the group emerged from the passage toward Tribal, Alkan saw several clusters of nimpa hiding among the trees and beyond the grasses. The group of sawikins soared into the sky, and the nimpa spotted them. In an instant, the hidden creatures quickly ran after the beings in the air.Alkan’s eyes narrowed as he watched the nimpa. Manuel noticed that Alkan had been observing them for a while."We have the nimpa with us, but I did not allow them to follow us into the fairy kingdom," he explained.Alkan merely nodded and looked away. He scanned the entirety of Tribal visible from the sky. And when his gaze reached the far south where Valeria was… he took a deep breath. When they arrived at the white palace, Alkan saw that many white sawikins were waiting for them. Manuel also explained that they knew that the two of them—Alkan and Gio—had entered the kingdom of the fairies. The fairies were known for being self-centered and did not wish to mingle with
