Chapter Forty-One:MEETING ELIAS WEI
Marcus finished up from work a bit early, eager to get to the party, see his long lost grandfather and see the surprise that awaited him at the mansion but he had to do something first. Before he went back home, he chose to get a gift for his grandfather. He had overheard that the man had a liking for antiquities from his father and Eric's conversation once before. So, he decided what better gift to give when you're meeting someone for the first time. Plus, he wanted to make a good impression. His car pulled up in front of a building that he had seen sometimes while he was on his way home. It was an antique store. Just the name alone confirmed that.Antique's and all.Marcus parked and got down from his car. He made sure to take his black card with him just to cover any extra cost he might incur. At least this was something that he could comfortably spend a lot of money on.He entered the building, the ringing bell above the door signifying that there was a new customer. The inside o

Chapter Forty-Two: A SURPRISE INDEED
"Welcome back." He said under his breath. Once Elias finished speaking Marcus was able to get free of his hold. It wasn't bad or anything, hugging for long just made Marcus a bit uncomfortable. He smiled at his supposed grandfather, noting that the man wasn’t as old as he expected him to be. He had bought a gift for an old man but his grandfather looked anything but that. "Thank you." Marcus said still not able to get over the fact that this man was finally standing before him. His hand went to his pocket ready to bring out the gift that he bought and revived last minute when Elias spoke up."I can't believe I'm looking at my grandson after all these years of looking for you. I'm sorry we couldn't find you earlier but I'm glad you're with the family now." Elias mentioned, still holding on to Marcus’ shoulder. Elias turned at Micah, gleefully."He has your features and if what you've told me on the phone is true then he's more like your late wife than you."Marcus' mother. Elias had

Chapter Forty-Three: RACHEL ALLISON BLYTHE
"Rachel, this is my grandson Marcus. Marcus, this is Rachel Allison Blythe , your soon to be wife."Both Marcus and Rachel stared at Elias incredulously forcing themselves to believe that what he was saying was a joke but their hopes were shattered when Elias spoke again."Before any of you say anything this has been what both your father's and I wanted to happen and although Bruce couldn't make it today, due to his medical condition, he wanted me to break the news to you both."Standing before him was the daughter of the legendary businessman Bruce Blythe and the current CEO of a rival company, Blythe Conglomerate. They should have been talking strategy or a compromise but here they were, speaking about a potential marriage when they could be sharing ideas and business plans on how to get their company to grow. The Blythes were one of the most powerful business families in the world, the Wei’s being behind only them in the city of New York. Unfortunately, Bruce Blythe was not doing w

Chapter Forty-Four: CONFIRMATION
The party had lasted longer than Marcus had hoped and people still walked around the room unwilling to go back to their homes. He could still see his father, uncle and grandfather mingling with various guests, each of them still with their game face on. Marcus wondered how they got the stamina to be on their feet for about five hours straight. He was already tired as he stood alone at a column in the room overlooking the rest of the guests. Rachel had left some time ago. Actually, she left immediately she turned away from him and that was the one thing that Marcus didn't want to dwell on. He had had enough of the marriage talk especially when it was with another entitled rich woman. Marcus sighed and stopped leaning on the column. He had had enough of the party. They could all stay down here but he was done with the event in general. He began to walk away, out of the hall and towards the stairs in the lobby when he felt a hand on his arm. He turned around to see his father, Micah."

Chapter Forty-Five: THE LOVE TRAP
Marcus sat up in the bed feeling a bit worn down. His alarm clock read 12: 21pm. He had slept for so long but he didn't really feel rested throughout the night. He stood up as he used his hand to somewhat arrange his bed hair. It wasn't a work day so he went through the motions of most of his mornings by having a bath, brushing his mouth and putting on some clothes within the time frame of an hour and thirty minutes. Once he was done he was able to go through his phone. He sat on his bed and turned on his phone. To his surprise he go a text message from his grandfather.Meet me at The Opal restaurant in Soho by 1:00pm for lunch. We need to talk about last night. Marcus sighed but got up from the bed. He somehow expected them to have a talk about the arranged marriage. No doubt his grandfather was going to try and convince him to go along with it but he was determined to get the man to see his own point of view. He wasn't ready to get married to anyone in the nearest future. He chang

Chapter Forty-Six: AN INTERVENTION
Marcus drove back to his home after leaving the restaurant. Even though he had not expected to see Rachel there, he didn't mind it at all. He had had a delicious lunch and he managed to get a rise out of her. To him that was the bright side of this blindsiding day.As he walked into the mansion, one of the staff approached him."Good day Mr. Marcus. Welcome back. Mr. Wei would like to see you in his study." The man greeted him as soon as he walked into the mansion. "All right. Thank you." He said, gathering his thoughts. The staff member walked away leaving Marcus standing in the middle of the lobby. His father had never called him to his study like this on such short notice. He had a hunch that the only reason for this could be because of the lunch date that he and Rachel had. If not that, what else?Marcus sauntered all the way to the study, trying to drag out the inevitable. He didn't want to have this conversation at all but he knew it was bound to happen. He slowly but surely r

Chapter Forty-Seven: TWICE IN ONE DAY
Marcus jumped into his car and drove out of the mansion grounds, wanting to be anywhere but near his family. His mood had gone from somewhat okay to bad in a matter of minutes and his anger only kept on building up by the second. He had to let it all out before he was going to blow and what better way than to do what he loved.Marcus pulled up to a building that had the words 'MAX GAMING CENTRE'. The building was covered from head to toe in graphics and characters from various games, most of them already played by Marcus before he stopped to focus on work. He got out of his car and walked into the building. Nostalgia hit him as he saw the various gaming spaces in the place and heard their fight sounds. The names of several games stuck out and made him smile a bit as they were connected to a good time he had once or twice in the past while some made him frown as they were connected to the time when he was still in that dreaded Wong mansion.Whether the games brought back good memories

Chapter Forty-Eight- HER BIG SECRET
An hour later the wait was over as doctor Dunn came out of the room with a relieved look on her face. Marcus arranged his disheveled hair and eyed her. He wasn't in any way torn up over Rachel but he did hope she was okay. Regardless of what he thought, he needed Rachel to be fine. "How is she? What was wrong?" He asked as soon as she got closer. "She's fine now. We got the drug flushed out from her system in time." Doctor Dunn replied, her worry subsiding for a moment but coming back up when she realized that there was something more sinister at hand. Marcus raised a questioning eyebrow, confusion coating his face. "Drug? What drug?""It's propofol. Normally it would just make her fall asleep but it started to restrict her airways probably because she's allergic to either eggs, soybeans or something closely related to the two. It works effectively normally, making the victim unconscious in about five to fifteen minutes. It's slowly being considered as a date rape drug these days.

Chapter Forty-Nine: A SUITOR?
"Does this Davon fellow have anything to do with the way you're blushing?" Marcus asked her, his brows going up. Rachel eyed him, her mouth in a taut line before she replied. "Even though you saved me you should mind your business sometimes."Marcus raised his hands in the air in mock surrender, her words not really doing much to him. He only tried to make small conversation but he guessed that Rachel was just not the person to do that with. "I don't really care." He retorted, matching her energy. “I'm just trying to find out how the drug got into your system. I'm trying to help you. If we got my family involved it could help too."Marcus didn't want to really speak to his family as of now but if helping someone live was on the line then he would do it. Even if that person was Rachel. Rachel pouted but in the end relinquished the information that Marcus wanted."I think it was put in a drink. I didn't even drink it myself." She murmured the last part to herself."What?" Marcus que

Chapter Fifty: EXPLANATIONS
"Rachel was almost killed today.” Marcus announced, causing the eyes of the men in the room to widen, every one of them thinking the same thing. What the hell is he talking about? Elias' head spun so quickly to face his grandson that one would have thought his head would have flown off his body from the sheer speed of the action. "What do you mean by that?" He said, fear coursing through his veins and worry evident in his voice. "I mean someone tried to kill her today. She was drugged. When I went out, I just happened to see her collapse on the walk way. I helped her but if I wasn't there, I'm not sure what would have happened to her." Marcus explained, his mind going back to when he saw Rachel helpless and passed out. He really had no idea what would have happened to his family if Rachel would have died. His father's question pulled him back to the present. "What drug?" Micah asked. He already looked like he was about to kill someone."Propofol. It was only administered to rende
