chapter 121
Jack Medallion System/Rachel Holt
We came all the way to find it, and now it’s missing. It should be here somewhere.” Jack was forced to speak after hearing the words from Sierra. He looked around anxiously, but just like Sierra, he was able to see that it didn’t look like the medallion could be any other place than where they were standing. “Dwayne? What does the map say?” Jack asked calmly as soon as he looked at Dwayne who turned slowly to face him without being able to get rid of the angry look on his face. “The map is useless now, Jack. There is no indication of where the map is, everything I know is from the words of Charles Oliver. He said the medallion was going to be here, he was certain of it!” Dwayne pointed to a spot on the wall of the cave, and everyone turned instantly to take a look. For a few seconds, none of them said a word while they struggled with their minds, relying to figure out a way to tackle the situation that was facing them. “What does this mean?” L

Lucy was together with Jack, and they moved to the right corner of the cave where they searched tirelessly for anything that could look like the drawing Dwayne had shown to them. They moved some of the treasures that were heaped on top of each other away in order to make sure that they left no stone unturned, and sooner than later, sweatballs began to appear on the faces, and several parts of their bodies, but the thought of giving up never crossed their minds even in the midst of the little frustration that resulted from their futile efforts. “Do you see anything?” Lucy asked with a strained voice after lifting the last object in front of her which she felt could be covering up the medallion if it was truly there. She looked at Jack, and seeing that he was still searching, she decided to wait until he was done. In less than ten seconds, Jack was done searching the last place left for him to search, and he lifted his head slowly before turning to look at Lucy who was still looking

“I can’t remember saying that there was a problem, Vince,” Sierra said with a smirk on her face, but her words made Vince grunt, and he insisted that there was something wrong. “Then why does it seem as if you have something going on in your mind? Maybe you can let it out instead of harboring it in your thoughts.” “I don’t remember telling you that I had anything going on in my mind, Vince! Maybe you should be the one talking to me about whatever you have in mind!” Sierra fired back at once, glaring at her brother who grunted angrily before he took a step closer to her. Sierra thought he was going to attack him, and she took a stance instantly, ready to defend herself just in case her brother was planning to throw a punch on her face. “Guys! I think that’s enough! We don’t need to fight about this! You both are siblings for crying out loud!” Jack stepped in at once, holding his hands in front of the two elves who looked at him after he interru

For a moment, Vince felt like his companions had abandoned him, and he grunted inwardly, looking at them with his eyes wide open while they displayed so many acts that showed that they were eager to walk away from him. “I am certain that they are not going to find anything, I am sure of it. I can bet my life on it!” Vince beat his chest while he looked at his companions who had already surrounded the cave. They waited for a short while before they began to look around it. “Time to prove them wrong,” Vince said while he was still bearing the thought that he was right and that nothing could be found anywhere near the throne. He looked at his sister for a few seconds, wondering why they were always at loggerheads with each other. He realized that he had no answers to give to himself, and he hissed. Reluctantly, he began to walk to the throne while he held onto his spear with a tight grip, not ready to let go for any reason. “I sat on that throne, there is no way I would have missed i

Taking in a deep breath which he exhaled slowly, Jack did what he had in mind, and pushed down the symbol effortlessly. Everyone stepped back at once, including him while they looked around with their weapons tightly gripped, ready to take action if necessary. “Why is nothing happening, Jack?” Lucy asked with a whisper, looking at Jack who was holding up his sword, ready to make it blaze as soon as he saw anything dangerous. “Maybe he didn’t push it well. I think I should push it well…” Sierra moved to push the crest again, but the sound she heard made her stop instantly while she looked at the throne which seemed like it was transforming into something that looked like a flat surface with a stand. “What’s this?” Dwayne said with a tone laced with a little disappointment as he wasn’t expecting to see something like that. Maybe it would have been better if he saw something that looked like a boobytrap than what he saw. “Is this a prank? What are we

Even though the rest of the adventurers were quiet even after Jack broke the silence, it could be seen that they were really frustrated while they grunted inwardly with angry looks on their faces. “Why put us through so much stress?” Dwayne grunted for the umpteenth time while he clenched his fists angrily, and released them when he was eventually able to get a grip on himself. He looked at the others one after the other, and seeing that they seemed to be waiting to hear what he was going to say, he sighed heavily. “I guess we are left with no choice, guys. We are going to the ancient castle…” “You talk as though it’s that simple, Dwayne! How are we supposed to locate this, this ancient castle that he spoke of? It doesn't seem like this is the kind of place that we will find something like that. I know he said it wasn’t too far away from here, but I don’t think that I can trust his words anymore.” Sierra interrupted Dwayne at once, and even though he was visibly upset about her act

The look on his face showed that he was anxious, and when Jack saw the way his legs were shaking, he knew that something was wrong. “What are we not seeing?” Jack whispered while he looked around, scouring the entire surroundings just in case there was someone watching, but it seemed like they were the only ones there. “Guys? I have been searching all over for you! I almost thought something had happened to you!” Seth said with a forced smile, looking at his companions who stared at him as though they didn’t recognize him.“What is it, guys? You don’t look so happy to see me! Why are you staring as though you have seen a spirit? It’s me, Seth!”“Is that really you, Seth?” Lucy said calmly, and the Centaur nodded in response while he kept his eyes on her since she appeared to be the only one who looked calm among them. “Lucy? It’s me! It is Sierra! Don’t you recognize me? What’s going on with all of you? Why are you acting this way

Lucy became very nervous at that moment while she looked at the soldiers who looked like they were going to attack even without getting any order from Lord Rasmus. “Sierra, don’t! They are too many!” Dwayne said when he saw that Sierra was about to shoot one of the soldiers, she grunted angrily before she lowered her weapon. “Greetings! I must say that I really underestimated you all! I never thought that you were going to make it this far! But you have surpassed everything I thought about you! Well done!” Lord Rasmus said before he pushed Seth down to his knees, causing him to grunt loudly while he continued to shiver to the effect of the dread that engulfed him. “Your friend here did a wonderful job leading us to you all. It was very hard to convince him, but he had no other choice but to do what we wanted. Everyone will always yield no matter how tough they think they are.” Lord Rasmus lifted Seth’s head gently, still holding onto his neck. He enjoyed the fact that the Centaur w

“These are just treasures we found in the cave, Lord Rasmus! We didn’t find the medallion! That’s the truth!” “I see. I will find out myself.” Lord Rasmus gestured with his left hand, and two of his men moved to the adventurers and forcefully grabbed the bag and box from Vince and his sister without asking for their permission. “Careful with those! They are very valuable!” Sierra said to one of the soldiers who grabbed the bag she was holding, but only rolled his eyes at her, and poured the treasures in the bag to the ground before separating them from each other with his legs. The other soldier did the same to the treasures in the box Vince was holding onto, and when they were done, they looked at Lord Rasmus one after the other and shook their heads. “Search them! They could be hiding it somewhere! I don’t trust them, especially those silly elves.” Lord Rasmus stood firm on his conviction, and as soon as he was done talking, the men began to

Sooner than later, they got to the ruined castle, and stood in front of the entrance with the soldiers of Lord Rasmus surrounding them with weapons tightly held in their hands. The looks on their faces showed so much uncertainty, and they looked at the castle with their eyes wide open, wondering where the tombs were located. The space was quiet, and not even the sound of the wind could be heard. They constantly scoured the surroundings, hoping that nothing was going to creep out of anywhere to attack them. The adventurers couldn’t stop themselves from listening to the sound of the eerie music that played in their minds, and not even the slightest comfort came to them, especially with the soldiers surrounding them with weapons, ready to plunge them into their hearts at the slightest provocation. Slowly, Lord Rasmus walked up to the entrance of the castle, and stood in front of it, looking inside as though he was trying to see through the darkness that was nestled by the inside of th
