CHAPTER ELEVEN
“Who dares to cause trouble in my territory?” Yvonne Hall's voice boomed as her bodyguards encircled the auditorium, holding their rifles close to their chests. Luther's lips parted in surprise when he saw Yvonne. “Yvonne’s the richest person in New York. Did my lie about us being close just manifest into reality?” he snickered. “If she's here to greet me, I must take advantage of this,” Luther thought to himself. With a smile and egoistic chuckle escaping his lips, Luther took steady steps towards Yvonne, stretching his hands as if to give her a hug. The guests who immediately recognized Yvonne murmured amongst themselves, "I didn't really expect Luther to have such a relationship with Yvonne..." "Yeah! I know right? Luther is simply amazing. He keeps surprising us!" When Sera heard the whispers, she beamed with pride while Luther approached Yvonne. “My daughter's really marrying a capable man!” Sera thought to herself, smiling even wider as Jim snug close to he
CHAPTER TWELVE
"Yvonne, if I've ever make a good impression on you, don't do this to me! You'll humiliate me!" Luther begged Yvonne while Devin just stood on the spot, watching the drama unfold. "I wasn't asking," Yvonne replied to Luther coldly. Luther looked around for support, but the same cold, glaring eyes of the guests were all he found. Gritting his teeth, he fell to his knees before Devin. "I am sorry for everything, Devin--" "Bow! And he's your master!" Yvonne snapped at him as she cut him off. Luther nearly choked at the amused look on Devin's face. He faced the ground and bowed before Devin. "Forgive me, Master," he begged. "Tell him how foolish you've been," Yvonne reinforced, crossing her arms. The guests whispered amongst themselves as Luther humiliated himself even further. "I've been a fool, master. forgive me!" he begged, his voice breaking with shame. "Good. Now, crawl out of this place like an animal!" Yvonne added. Without saying another word, Luther crawled o

The banquet was a grand thing to behold. Devin drove into the event center and walked into the building, not gathering any special attention with the modest suit he was wearing. Devin wanted to encounter the board members first to know what kind of people they were. “Young Master. You're here!” Dreykov called out to him as he approached with a bunch of other bodyguards, but Devin waved his hand to hush them. “Let's keep the formalities under wraps for now. Treat me as a regular guest,” he replied to Dreykov who was honestly confused but nodded. “Yes, Young master- sorry- Devin-” Dreykov quickly corrected himself. Devin gave him a nod and walked inside. The evening's festivities began with a champagne reception, where guests sipped fine wines and beverages while enjoying the melodic strains of a live-string quartet. The music was a perfect accompaniment to the lively chatter and laughter that filled the room. But as soon as Devin stepped into the hall, he heard whispers com

“A common waiter dared to steal from me? You must not like your pathetic life anymore!?” Terrence yelled at Devin again, who just stood looking at him.“Yeah. How dare you, douchebag? Don't you know your fingers can be cut off if you steal from Boss Terrance?” The Foreman suddenly chipped in while he rose to his feet.Devin chuckled.“This loser's obviously playing you for a fool. He's the one who stole your gift, not me,” Devin replied to Terrance and crossed his arms.“He wants to have your favor by all means. It's as clear as day,” Devin added. The Foreman gasped.“Lies! This is defamation. I only took the gift to stop this animal from stealing it. And now you fucking dare to lie against me?”The Foreman rolled up his sleeves.“I'll teach you a fucking lesson!” He snapped at Devin and hurled at him, but Devin grabbed his hands, twisted them, and kicked him to the ground. The Foreman fell on a table and it shattered. With a bleeding nose, he stood up.“That's it! I'm fucking firing

“No… wait… please! I'm begging you!” Terrence fell on his knees before Devin, gripping his trousers. “Have mercy!” He begged again. “You have forfeited your shares due to your insolence!” Elijah said again and then turned to the bodyguards. “Get this clown out of here!” “No! Please! You can't do this to me…” Terrence cried as the bodyguards, the same ones he instructed to beat Devin up, dragged him out ruthlessly. The Foreman thought he was safe and wanted to run, but Elijah pointed to him. “Beat this one up!” He commanded, as before the Foreman could run, bodyguards grabbed him and beat him to the pup. He cried and begged as they dragged him out of the hall. Everyone was silent. They knew Elijah was not to be messed with, but the way Devin composed himself without wincing told them he, too, had a brave heart. “Mr Markus. Thank you for speaking up against such injustice earlier,” Devin said to Markus who smiled. “It was my pleasure to help, young master,” Markus said wi
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
After returning home that night, Devin felt his body temperature rising as soon as he stepped into his mansion. He took a deep breath as countless energy surged wildly inside his body, as if it was about to burst out of his body. Devin let out a groan. He quickly wore the necklace left to him by his mother, and the restlessness gradually subsided. When he opened his eyes again, Devin felt that his body was full of strength. The surge was gone, and so was the turbulence. “What was that?” Devin whispered and turned to go into his suite. But as he casually slapped his hand on the wall, Devin leaves a palm print there, without his notice. *** But for Kia, ever since the incident at Luther's wedding, she has been confined at home. “You can't keep me locked up in here, stepmother. I did my best!” Kia argued her case as her stepmother, Rhea, approached her in the living room. “Your best? Kia your best doesn't mean shit! You were supposed to secure a contract with Luther Banks at
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
“Who the fuck do you think you are? Huh? I've been patient with you for so long!” Gloria yelled at Kia. “Aunt Gloria, give me my phone please!” Kia demanded but Gloria placed the phone inside her purse. Kia reached in and took it back. “Malcolm is the man that will save this family. Now, I don't give a fuck whether you have a boyfriend or not. You're marrying Malcom and that is fucking final!” Gloria yelled again and Rhea laughed. “Yes, Kia. We don't give a fuck about your fantasies. No one does. You are a vessel that will bring money to this family. You're getting married whether you like it or not!” Rhea added. “You can't decide my life for me!” Kia protested. “We just did!” Gloria shot back at her. Kia turned to her father for support again but Ben looked away. “I can only stop this if your boyfriend is doing better than Malcolm. I'm sorry Kia,” he told her. As tears fell from Kia's face, Malcolm proceeded to wipe them off with his stinky hands. “Don't worry, love. I w
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Malcolm trudged to Devin with a frown on his face. But at that point, Devin was getting irritated by his attitude. “The man you just mentioned is my boss. How dare you defame my boss by hiring someone to pretend to be him?” “I should lock your sorry ass up in jail for this disgusting and shameless behavior!” Malcolm snapped at Devin. “Why don't you just shut the fuck up, man?” Devin snapped at him but Rhea reacted. “Don’t talk to him that way! Is he right? Did you really pay someone to pretend to be Henry Blake?” She asked. “I did not!” Devin replied to her but Gloria cackled. “Even now, the shameless idiot still has the guts to lie. It's obviously a scam, to deceive us!” Gloria chipped in. “Is this the kind of man you want to spend the rest of your life with? A pathetic liar and a cheat?” She asked Kia who flushed with embarrassment. “He was obviously trying to show off with wealth that he doesn't have- affluence that he'll never bag in the rest of his pathetic life-”
CHAPTER NINETEEN
Luther dialed Malcolm's number for the millionth time. As always, it went straight to voicemail.“Ah! The motherfucker isn't picking up!” Luther groaned as he stepped down from his car. Amanda alighted from the passager's side, her expression gloomy.“Just relax Luther. I'm sure it's nothing,” she said, exasperated. Luther shot her a glare as they approached D&M Metalworks, a Subsidiary of The Stonehenge Conglomerate.“Malcolm is the manager of this subsidiary. And I'm processing an ongoing deal with him. If he's not picking up his phone, then something is wrong with my deal!” Luther shot back at her.But Amanda rolled her eyes. “I still believe you're overreacting-”“Are you daft? Yvonne Hall, who was with that useless, golddigger ex-fiance of yours, might have made moves to terminate my deal! This deal is worth millions of dollars in Equity and Returns, and I cannot afford to lose it!” Luther cut her off.“Yeah! Fine! You don't have to yell about it!” Amanda retorted and stepped int

“I refuse to believe it! Henry Blake cannot partner with a brainless, big-breasted, broke-ass bitch like you!” Luther tried to fight on, but deep down, he could already tell that the deal was lost.Kia was embarrassed by the comment, but Devin suddenly chipped in.“And does your manager friend still pick your calls? I bet he has nothing to say to you now,” Devin said to Luther.“You fucking bastard!” Luther cursed Devin who just laughed at him. His mind was raging with vain emotions. And when he wanted to hurl at Devin, Henry's secretary walked towards them.Luther recognized her immediately. Believing she had come to welcome him, Luther approached her, but she snubbed him and went straight to Devin and Kia.“Hello, sir. Good day, ma'am. I'm glad to have you here with us today. Henry Blake is waiting. Please, follow me,” she said with a bright smile. But just as they were about to leave, Luther blocked her path. “Hell no! You're not going anywhere! How can you leave me here to attend
