Finally. The dark days suddenly left like a dream and the light he had not seen for a while had finally come. He was leaving prison. After 12 years of being stuck without hope, he had a chance. He wanted to know everything. What had happened to his girlfriend, Khloe? And why he had not seen her even once after he had been sentenced. Was she dead? Or was she alive?
The entire hall gathered with people who were cheering and slapping for him immediately after he came out. He had not expected it but it showed his life had not been all bad. Smiling as he passed through, Jake walked through as they patted his back congratulating him.“God father." Jake said as he ran to meet Franco who was standing near the door.“ Look at you. When I first met you, you were a teenager. You were so scared and sad because of this place. Look at you now. All the people you have saved came out to see you out. Good luck. Remember what I told you. Keep this for me too." Jake heard Franco say as he placed it in his pocket. No one knew what it was but they had their eyes on them. It was no secret how rich Franco was. They thought it would probably be a check or something.“ Is it what I think it is? Godfather, I cannot.” Jake said as he dipped his hand inside his pocket.“ Keep it. I need you to have it. Don’t worry about where you will stay. You can stay in my mansion. My children won’t object to it.” Franco said with a chuckle as he tapped Jake’s back.Nodding his head, Jake agreed before leaving. This was his first time taking in the scenery outside the prison. 12 years ago when he had arrived in front of this prison gate, he had been so afraid. His head started to imagine all sorts of things from the movies he had seen about them. His one hope had been Khloe. He didn't want to experience the hell he had been through. Maybe there was a reason. A reason why she had stopped visiting after the trial. Her father did not like him. As long as he knew their secret, he might not object that much.“ Taxi!” Jake shouted as he walked down away from the prison gate.Arriving in front of the Fisher family house, Jake looked through the car window in amazement. The house had been expanded and now it looked like a palace. Abraham Fisher who was Khloe’s father was the patriarch of the family was a stern, ruthless man. He didn't care about anything that didn't benefit him including his own daughter. His son, Kennedy had turned out just like him. When they were back in high school, Kennedy had already become the king of boys. He had gotten whatever girl he wanted and the girls he dumped at the end of the day, never attended school the next day for some reason. Jake knew that something dark had happened in their school but instead, he had fallen for the princess of the school, Khloe Fisher.“ You can come out now. The gas is still running. You will pay extra.” Jake heard the driver say bringing him out of his thoughts.Coming out of the car, Jake paid the driver before walking off to the gate. He knew that Khloe would be surprised to see him. He had changed a lot after 12 years and now he was bigger. They were both adults.Knocking on the gate, Jake waited for someone to come and answer him. It was at that moment when the gate opened that he finally realized, something was going on.“ Who are you?” Jake heard the gatekeeper ask.“ I- Is something happening here? Why are there a lot of guests?” Jake asked as he looked at the numerous guests going inside. They were all rich conglomerates from around the country. Even when he was in prison he had been keeping an eye on them. They were now known to be one of the most powerful families in the country after Adrian had somehow managed to secure the position of mayor in the state.“ There is an event. Someone is getting married.” The gatekeeper said.“ What? Who is getting married? Adrian? In that case, I should probably go and say hi then.” Jake said as he was about to make his way to the house.“ Stop. Where are you going? Who said that you could go anywhere?” The gatekeeper asked making Jake stunned.“I know Jake. He is my friend. We went to the same school together and Khloe is my girlfriend. I know this family.” Jake said as he pointed to the house in front of him.“ Yes. And I know the president. Who are you trying to deceive? Lady Khloe is your girlfriend? Then who is she getting married to? Lady Khloe and Theodore have been dating for five years. How can she be your girlfriend?” The gatekeeper asked.“ What? Dating for five years? That’s impossible.” Jake said as he looked at the gatekeeper.A few minutes later, Jake came out of the gate feeling like a complete idiot. Why? Why was he finally finding out about the truth just now? He had hung onto the hope of seeing her again as if his life depended on it. Now he was just finding out how foolish he had been all this time. Memories of his high school days still seemed to be like yesterday. The first time he had seen Khloe. Her beautiful wavy brown silky hair and her blue eyes had enticed him from the moment he had met her coming out of the house. The Fisher family house was near the bus station so he had always passed in front of their house while heading to the bus station with his brother, Julian. She had always been like a high mountain top that he couldn’t reach.“ Wait. Is that Jake?” One of the guests coming asked as she pulled her friend so they could go see him. Tapping Jake on the arm, they pulled him out of his thoughts. It was Anna and Nicole. The two of them were Khloe's best friends and confidants. Always stuck to Khloe’s side like glue, it wasn't a surprise that they had come for the wedding.“ It’s him. Weren’t you the one that was locked up for killing someone? You were Khloe’s boyfriend back in school.” Jake heard Nicole say making him roll his eyes.Luckily he had worn his hoodie up to cover his face. They had been one of his biggest problems while dating Khloe back then. Not wanting them to continue talking to him, Jake dragged his hoodie to cover his face as he left ignoring them.Heading to the corner, Jake hid his face as he watched them go inside the house. The gatekeeper let them inside immediately since their parents were all rich people known in the country.Falling to the ground, Jake couldn't help but cry his heart out as he realized how much he had lost. He had lost everything and his years had gone by in a waste. Khloe was getting married right now. How could she abandon him after everything he had done for her?“ Hello, godfather.” Jake said as he cleaned his face.“ Figlio. Where are you right now? Don’t tell me that you went to see your girlfriend?” Franco asked as he signaled his men to leave his room.“ You knew about it? Is that why you asked me to not come here? I feel like a fool right now. 12 years.” Jake said as he cried seriously in pain.“ I just found out about it. My daughter came to see me and she told me about it. I am deeply sorry my son. You finally have the chance to start over again. Don’t waste it on her and just move on.” Franco said.“ How can I? I have always known just how cruel the Fisher family was but they have gone too far this time. Help me godfather. I need your help.” Jake said.“What? What did you say? You saw Jake? I didn’t hear that he was released from prison. What if he comes here?” Khloe asked as she looked around the room wondering what to do. It felt like her entire world was finally crashing down. Today was her wedding day and she wasn’t planning on throwing away her hard work because of something that happened in the past. “ Why are you already behaving as if you are going to die any time soon? He won’t come here. You and I know that he will be too embarrassed to do so. You should just relax and go ahead with your marriage. Your father will kill you if anything bad happens today.” Anna said smiling. “ You are right. My dad will murder me. Where is Juliet? Is she okay?” Khloe asked as she looked around searching for her daughter. “ She is probably playing around with our children. Let’s get you ready quick.” Nicole said as she signaled Anna to get up. The wedding was going just as she had planned. Looking through the window, she saw Theodore st
Khloe's father entered the room at the exact moment that Jake had finished talking to Khloe. There was nothing they could do again since the press had already witnessed such a huge scene at the wedding. Theodore had also left so there was no more groom. Looking around the room, Khloe's father knew that something serious had just happened between the both of them. “ Are you the one that sent me this? You were recording me even when you were in prison?” He asked looking at Jake. “ What? Are you that suprised? Did you think that you were the only powerful person in the world?” Jake asked. “ I admit that I made a mistake by not keeping an eye on you all this time. I thought you were just an insignificant pest that didn't need my attention. What do you want? Your daughter? Khloe can give up custody over the child. She is not a very bright child either way. If we promise to let her go, will you leave with her and not return?” Jake heard Khloe's father ask. His hand clenched into a fist
Great silence befall the whole place after Jake had shouted angrily demanding Khloe to speak the truth. Looking at the other children, Khloe signaled them to leave and they did so running as fast as they could. Jake didn't care about them. They were the daughters of Anna and Nicole. Of course they would be like that. All that mattered to him was his daughter. “ Juliet, he is. He is your father." Khloe said as she stared at Jake with disgust in her eyes. “No. No, no, no. You didn't say anything about my father. Even when I asked you." Jake heard Juliet say. " Because I-” Khloe said. " Because she is a liar. There are many things you don't know about so you judge so quickly. I am your father. I didn't even know that your mother had kept you because she said she wasn't.” Jake said. “ No. It can't be!” Juliet said running away immediately. Khloe turned around wanting to run after Juliet but Jake caught her hand stopping her. He didn't want her to keep on instigating their daughter a
The next day, Jake woke up exactly when the clock hit 6. Maybe it was because he was already used to it or something. Back in prison, he would have to wake up early to take a shower in peace. He had never been one to shower with other men even if it didn't make him uncomfortable. He liked his peace and that was it. Dressed in a beautiful sky blue shirt and brown trousers, he came out of the room and stood in the hallway. It was only down that he suddenly realized he didn't know where his daughter's room was. He had been so tired that he forgot to ask or bid her goodnight. “ What are you doing? Who are you?" Jake heard one of the servants ask as she caught him in the middle of sneaking around. “ I am Jake. Khloe's husband.” Jake said as he looked at the elderly woman who looked very tired. “ Oh, you're the hidden husband that ruined the wedding. I am Samantha. Everyone calls me Sam.” The woman said. “ Sam. I didn't ruin the wedding. It was bound not to happen." Jake said. " It wou
“ I don't think that's necessary. The both of us are already grown. We don't have to sleep together." Jake said trying to convince Abraham. “ Of course you have to. She's your wife. Isn't that the reason why you came back?” Jake heard Abraham ask. Knowing that he certainly wasn't going to win, Jake resigned himself to his fate. He didn't have any solid power in the house. If there was any reason why they were tolerating him, it was because of his relationship with Franco. Heading back to his room first, he decided to take a shower. Turning the temperature all the way to cold, Jake stepped into shower immediately to let the water hit him. It was a habit he has gained in prison even though he had the option to use hot water thanks to Franco since he was always going to his room. “ Jake? Are you inside? Where are you?” Jake heard Khloe ask from outside the bathroom. He remained silent because he didn't want her to see him naked. His entire body was now covered with scars and tattoos
When Abraham had finally left, Jake watched as the two guards that had been standing in front of the door finally open it. Watching his little girl run out, Jake opened his arm allowing her to run to him. Hearing his daughter cry so loudly in his arms was even more terrifying than when he had heard her scream. His daughter was claustrophobic and he had no idea until now. “It's okay. It's okay." Jake said as he patted his daughter's hair slowly. Few minutes later, he came back to his room burning with his desire to kill someone. Abraham had showed him how ruthless he could be in the past however, he didn't expect that he would do such a thing to do his own granddaughter. “ Get out! I said get the hell out of my room!” Jake shouted as he threw Khloe's things out of the wardrobe. “ What are you doing? Do you think that this will make my father mad? Wait. Do you want to move Juliet here? She's a girl." Jake heard Khloe say making him throw her bag at her in anger. “ And she is your fu
Abraham and Khloe continued to welcome all the guests that came in personally. They were all wealthy people that could be used which made them important. Suddenly, people around them started to gasp in shock gaining their attention. Looking back, they saw a shocking scene. Jake was holding Alexa's hand as they walked in. Suprised by what was going on, Abraham stepped forward leaving what he was doing and Khloe followed. This was unacceptable. Especially since most of the people here had been at Khloe's wedding before. They already knew that Jake was Khloe's hidden husband. “ Mr. Fisher, long time no see. How have you been doing? Hope your health is better now?” Jake heard Alexa ask as he stood with her. It was obvious that she was finding trouble but he didn't care. Since they didn't want him there, they would have to take it as they saw him. “ Is this a joke? Don't you know that Jake is a married man? You were at Khloe's wedding." Abraham said in distain as he looked at Alexa. “
Groaning as he stood up, Jake tried to go after the men holding Juliet. Even though he had broken a few ribs, he wasn't going to allow them lock her up again. Just as he was about to go and attack them, the door bell rang stopping him and the men in their tracks. Watching his father-in-law glance at the maids to open the door, Jake cleaned his mouth as he looked at his daughter. He didn't want her to see him like this. “ Is this the Fisher family house?” A man asked at the door making the air fill of tension. Watching the maid whisper some things at the door, Jake looked around and saw that their attention was focused on what was happening. Glancing at his daughter, Jake signaled her what to do to get out of the grasp of the person holding her. Just as he had instructed, Juliet bit the hand of the man that had been holding her surprising him. The sudden scream of the man immediately startled everyone as they turned their attention towards him. “ Was that a scream I heard just now?”
Heading over to Alexa, Jake took her hand pulling her behind him. “Enough. I think this house is enough for all of us to live in. It shouldn't be a problem as long as we don't cross parts with each other." Jake said making Scarlett laugh. " Fine. Alexa can stay ” Scarlett said as she opened her phone doing something. " What are you doing? What the hell are you doing?” Alexa asked walking over to Scarlett to try and grab her phone. Unfortunately Scarlett was faster. “ What does it look like I am doing? Calling the police. I think they would be happy to know what your brother did. Have you forgotten? What? You thought that because your boyfriend suddenly has the house, you can come back? The only time you can return back to this house is when one of us is dead. Do you hear me? Dead!” Scarlett said screaming before she continued to tap her phone. Watching Alexa fall to her knees, Jake stepped forward suprised. Scarlett had something on Alexa's brother? What was it? It had to be some
Grabbing his daughter into his arms, Jake patted her head as he hugged her. His daughter crying in front of him was the worst punishment anyone could give him and he didn't like it. “Juliet, where is your mother? Did you come alone?” Jake asked as he looked at his daughter's face helping her clean her tears off. “ I ran away from school. Is it true? You are going to marry another woman and then, our family won't be complete? Grandfather said he was going to send me off to an orphanage if you didn't come back." Jake heard Juliet say making him scoff as he looked at her. It was a monstrous thing to do. The fact that Abraham told such a thing to an 11 year old girl made his heart break from the cruelty. It was okay if they didn't like him. He had always discriminated against him and that was fine. He was able to bear it all. But his own granddaughter. How could he be so cruel to his own granddaughter? “ Did you say you came alone? Let's go. Let's go, princess." Jake said as he held h
The shocked expression on faces around him suddenly made Jake feel something was wrong. Why would his godfather give him a house that was worth so much? This would automatically make him a target. “Are you sure that the house was really given to me? Is that what my godfather said?” Jake asked as he looked at the lawyer. “ Yes. It's written in bold letters in the will. Okay, I am done with my work here. I will get going." The lawyer said as he got up about to leave when Ashton stood up. “ Does this make sense? We are his children. Does he feel that it is only Scarlett and Alexa he wronged all through his life? What about us too? What about me and Zac? Was she not also our mother?” Ashton asked. “ Enough. There is no need for this to cause a discord among us. I can transfer my shares between you and Zac. I still have the shares in our mother's company. I can also give those to you. You are my brother. You should know that there is nothing I won't give to you.” Jake heard Scarlett sa
After the interrogation of all his godfather's children, Jake finally returned back with Alexa. He was already feeling guilty about what had happened in the morning and he could see that she wasn't mentally stable to be alone. Arriving at her house, Jake parked Alexa's car which he had driven and helped her out. Unlike the houses of the other children, Jake realized that she had been living in a normal bungalow house that looked very cozy. “ This is where you live?" Jake asked as he looked around the living room that looked a little bit more spacious than he had imagined. Although it had plain, Jake noticed that it had been designed with luxurious items in little details that won't easily be noticed such as the huge gold chandelier that hung from the roof in the middle of the parlor, the jade vase that was on the middle table and other things. In conclusion, Alexa was indeed not like the others. “ You already know. I am just a low life illegitimate daughter. All my life, I was bull
“What do you mean something to hide? I have an appointment. That's why I am asking." Keira said as she cleared her throat awkwardly. Despite the fact she was acting suspicious, all her siblings knew that she couldn't be the one. She was too dumb to do such a thing. “ Miss Zac Franco Junior, please tell me where you were last night?" Jake heard the police officer ask as he questioned the first member of the Franco family. “ I was in London. You can ask my roommate. I was in the dorm all day and decided to go out partying in the night. My name even got caught up for a brief moment on the news. I heard about it this morning and flew down here immediately." Jake heard Scarlett's brother say as he brought out his phone showing the police officer. Watching the police officer gaze at the phone, Jake couldn't tell if the police officer had caught him lying or not. His godfather had once talked about the young boy he had given his name too. Zac was a was a young boy that you'd call the part
“What are you doing here? Where have you been?" Jake asked Alexa as he looked at her. “ What are you doing here? Do you have a guest?" Alexa asked as she stood in front of the door looking behind Jake. She already guessed there was someone inside. She wouldn't have gotten the message if the person didn't want her to catch Jake together with her. She just wanted to know who it was. “ Now is not the right time. Maybe you should co-" Jake said cut off as Alexa pushed him entering inside. “ Hello dear sister." Scarlett said as she waved her hand smiling at Alexa. The air in the room seemed to have become hot all of a sudden. Following behind Alexa, Jake paused as he watched the interaction between the two sisters. He had no idea how she had gotten to his room but he had no explanation to give Alexa either. The Franco children were all fighting over the inheritance of their father. Since he had already sided with Alexa, he did it want her thinking that he had betrayed her. “ Listen,
Few weeks later, Jake came out of the cab looking at one of the biggest courthouses in the state. Many influencial judges had been assigned to that courthouse therefore making the place very famous. Looking at the courthouse, Jake couldn't help but feel worried as he watched many people come out of it. Some of them had smiles on their faces while others were crying. What exactly was going to be his fate today? “ The court will be taking the two deeds for examination. You will get a result next week. Case dismissed." Jake heard the male judge say as he hit his little hammer on the table before leaving. Looking at Alexa, Jake shook his head smiling. This was why she had been so confident before. “ I didn't know you were a lawyer. Is this why you were adamant about us meeting in the court? No wonder." Abraham said as he giggled looking at Alexa but she didn't seem fazed at all. “ Don't worry, Mr. Fisher. The court now has both the deeds to the restaurant. I suggest that you yield. Th
Watching the Fisher family lawyer move away to call someone, Jake drew closer to meet Alexa whispering in her ear. “ Are you sure this will work?" Jake asked watching as she turned to look at him. Her cute little smile was enchanting as she looked at him for a brief second. For the first time since they had come here, he noticed what she was wearing. A short leather skirt with a matching black leather jacket and a white crop top shirt inside. Her leather boots were long reaching up to her knees but it didn't cover her beautiful slim thighs that looked so glossy and perfect. He was already imagining himself doing all sort of crazy things to her as he held her thighs up. “ This isn't good.” Jake muttered under his breath as he turned away. “ Did you say something?” Alexa asked immediately making him stunned. “ Nope. I didn't say anything. Did you hear something?” Jake asked trying hard to cover things up. Just then, the Fisher family lawyer returned back looking at the two of them
Unable to get over his parents death, Jake returned back to the restaurant. Even though the police claimed that they were looking for their murders, he knew better. They had not even found the handkerchief that was near the door. But who exactly did it belong to? “Hello. Are you the son of the owners of this place?" Jake heard a middle aged woman say as she came into the restaurant. Standing up from his chair, Jake nodded his head slowly wondering what she wanted. She didn't look like anyone dangerous since ehe was dressed in a corporate outfit. “Yes, I am their son. Jake Moss. Who are you?" Jake asked as he used his arm to clean his face. “ I am from the bank. Your parents are now gone therefore you should vacate this place as soon as possible.” Jake heard the middle aged woman say. “ What do you mean by that? This place belongs to my parents." Jake argued. " No. It belongs to Abraham Fisher. This building is a property of the Fisher family therefore you should leave as soon as
