Adrian knelt, his eyes fixated on the destroyed garden, his entire being picturing the amount of time he’s spent on this small piece of land, thinning, trimming, planting, cultivating. He’d spend his best days and his worst days here and it had been ripped apart. He knew the Brooks family knew he didn't kill the man, they know he is innocent but they have decided to become an active antagonist in his life.

As he watched the garden now, every single emotion he had been trying to bottle up, all the pains and the hurts, all of them had reached the peak of his throat. At the moment, he couldn't feel the wind blowing, nor could he smell the stinky scent of manure that filled the air, even the voices of people speaking behind him felt like distant cries of hunting wolves. He felt nothing at that moment but rage. Seething, theming and boiling rage.

He stood up from the ground, and glanced at the people around the area, it was the maids. All of them were trying to show their sympathy to him

He glanced backwards, away from the swollen face of Raymond and his eyes met with Rose who was standing across the lawn, her hand stuck around Linda’s and when he looked in her face, he realized he probably had been going too far. He glanced around and the entire house surrounded them. Even lady Barbara held that sense of fear in her eyes. The only one who wasn't really afraid and mildly calm was Lazzaro. He just stared blankly at the event as if he was disappointed about something. He got up from Raymond and he began to walk away from the crowd. The maids went forward to help Raymond but he shoved them off. “And to what effect did you do this?” He asked Adrian. “You think you could scare me? I promise you this, all my full attention will be turned towards you and you will come to realize how dangerous the firstborn son of Hamilton Brooks is,” he said, spitting blood from his mouth. “Challenge accepted!” Adrian replied in a low growl and headed out of the house. He saw Rose’s car p

Adrian watched as she jogged into the house smiling and he just stared at her, he felt his heart tugging into a knot, something was in there that he couldn't really fix. It was as if it was tied down to a chair and he couldn't free it. He gritted his teeth and found himself rubbing his chest. His heart was beating so fast and loudly that he didn't need to touch his chest to hear the thumping sound in his head. “Are you gonna stare at my ass or are you gonna come in,” Rose said, turning around to face him with that usual mischievous grin on her cheeks. “I wasn't staring at you…” he gestured the rest of the word with his hand. “There isn't much to stare at,” he mumbled under his breath.“Hey, I heard that!” She pointed to him. “Say it again, I dare you, I double dare you!” She glanced at him with a raised eyebrow. He raised his eyes, signaling he surrendered and then he shook his head with a smile as they walked into the house. He entered through the small door, in fact he had to ben

She served the food on the small cozy dining that was next to the area in which she’d separated for her multiple computer sets. The food was a simple one. She’d a bunch of fried chicken wings and some spicy sauce. Then the main course was rice with different kinds of vegetables littered on it in a purposely arranged manner. The arrangement was a spiral and she’d taken her time to arrange it alternatively. He smiled before glancing up and saying in a low tone. “Thanks for the food,” he smiled and then started to dig in. The eating started with an awkward silence with both of them stealing glances from each other. It wasn't after a while that Adrian worked up the courage to speak. He wanted to say something serious with her about them without her joking about it because she was really fond of it. “Why did you kiss me earlier?” He asked as he dipped a chicken into the sauce and threw it into his mouth. “I just felt like it,” she raised her eyes, thrusting her spoon into her rice but

Adrian woke up and felt someone's skin on his chest, he glanced downward and saw Rose’s blonde hair, unpacked, sprawled over his chest. He relaxed and decided to let the moment last as much as he could let it. Even though he knew he should be rushing to head out as he would be going back to work today. He laid back down, but the shift in posture must have disturbed her because she jerked up and stared at blank space for a while before staring at him. “Good morning,” she grunted. “Are you not going to work?” She asked.“Oh, I am,” he smiled. “Just enjoying the moment,” he replied. She raised her eyes at him and chuckled. “You are very funny, now come on go get dressed, I need to freshen up, I look like a mess,” she said as she dragged herself from the bed. Adrian got up behind her and they both began to prepare for the day. Showering and dressing up was awkward but they made it work. At last he was headed out of the house and Rose was at her computer starting the day's work. She cl

Adeline was in a cloud of files, and her phone was in her hand, she was lying on the floor, flipping through files. She’d taken off the coat of her suit and she had loosen the top button of her shirt. She was currently speaking to a man on the phone. “Yes, he would,” she said, sighing as the man ranted on and on on the phone. “Yes, but then would you take your time to meet him and check his validity,” she explained. “The deal is valid, and it is that good, if I can't convince you otherwise, there is no problem, the company possesses about twenty other shareholders as strong as you, I am sure some of them won't feel as skeptical,” she said in a pleasing voice but her face was filled with anger. The man on the other phone succumbed and at last agreed to her terms. “Thank you,” she said. “I will make sure you do not regret this,” she hung up and sighed. Adrian who was lying at another corner of the office and was in his own bundle of files turned to Adeline. “Was that successful? I ca

Adrian was seated at the front of the warehouse inside Blinks’ car, his head still a little fuzzy from what he’d seen about two hours ago. His entire body was still shaking and he could barely stop it. Whoever that detective was, he didn't deserve that kind of death. The killer didn't need to go to the extent they went to. They didn't just kill the man, they mauled him to death. Blinks was with police officers answering some questions. He glanced at him from afar and he knew he hadn't been this serious in his entire life. He glanced at his phone and saw that he’d missed a call from his mother. He decided to call her back to take his mind off matters. He dialed her number and she picked up the phone. “Hello my son,” she said as soon as she received the call. “How have you been?” She asked. “I have been fine. How are you?” He replied.“I am fine, I just wanted to check on you. Had a bad dream just now and I just needed to call to confirm you are safe,” she said. “I am ma. I have be

For Adrian, this was a place of many firsts—the first time he set foot in the Brooks estate as a member of the family he was about to reveal himself to. The mansion’s grandeur could not mask the rot that had festered within its walls for years. Today, that rot was about to be exposed. The doors swung open, revealing a dimly lit grand hall. "I know you have a lot of questions. I owe you some answers."Adrian’s gaze remained fixed on the windshield, his jaw clenched. "You think?" he muttered, his tone sharp. She shouldn’t be here when we go after Lazzaro.”They didn’t waste any time. Within minutes, Rose was ready to go, her expression calm but determined. She wasn’t the type to show fear, and even now, after everything that had happened, she remained composed. “Where are we going?” Rose asked as Adrian helped her into the car.“To the police station,” Adrian said. “You’ll be under Penelope and Ramsey’s protection. They’ll keep you safe until this is over.”Rose nodded, trusting Adrian’s judgment.
