Adrian stiffened as he watched Raymond walk in, the man was a big thorn in his path and he’d spent the last few weeks avoiding him and his entire family. He sighed as he realized he couldn't avoid them forever.

Raymond walked in with Doctor Huns beside him and two bodyguards backing him as he did. He was dressed in a rather dignified manner, his demeanor was quite different too, he held a strict countenance in his looks and Adrian was almost afraid of him.

He however knew the reason he was like this was because someone had put him up to it and he knew it would be no other person than Maria, his wife. That witch was a cunning person, and Adrian could only imagine what kind of thoughts she’d put in the mind of Raymond and what he was actually here to do.

“Good day gentlemen, I still wonder why I am exempted from the board meetings of my own father's company,” Raymond announced as he entered, shaking his head in disappointment.

“I don't think there is any le…” Mr Shin wanted to speak

He was just a boy who had grown under the shade of his mother, he wasn't ready for this. Huns was the one who came to convince him and the others. He couldn't do this, he didn't have the capacity. Raymond was breathing heavily now.“There is no legal standing that makes you a part of this company. The only reason I am not kicking you and your merry band of riffraffs out right now is because I loved your father as a brother and I mean to keep his dignity. Cross me again and you will rue the day you were born!” Desmond continued his assault. He stopped and Adrian felt chills he could see the entire atmosphere had gone cold. It was easy to see a lion roar, or see a dog bark but when an elephant goes into a spree of anger, everyone shuts up. That was what just happened. The seemingly jovial and relaxed man had let loose his own screws and everyone was just stumped. Desmond however wasn't done with the whole thing. He stepped closer to him. “Now get out of this room as quietly as you can

The moment he walked in, the girl smiled, a soft smile that was filled with an underestimation that Huns wasn't familiar with. “Are you Mr Anthony's assistant?” He asked, rather politely.“No. I am Mr Adrian's. I have been waiting for you actually. Good afternoon, my name is Adeline, would you like some tea?” She asked with a smile. “No, I wouldn't like tea, I would like to be alone,” he said, waving his hand at her, signaling for her to leave.Adeline scoffed at his actions, she acted like she didn't hear what he said and as politely as she could she began to speak. Adrian had already planned that he would come to the lawyer's office after he was kicked out and Adeline already was waiting for him. She was actually quite surprised when Huns walked in and at the moment the respect level she held for Adrian increased. He was not just any kind of man, he knew what he was doing on every occasion. He had a good judge of character and somehow knew how to manage people. Adrian reminded he

Huns walked out of the building, depressed, frustrated and angry. He had never been back to such a corner in his life. He has been working with the Castle and Castle company for a while and he knows all those he worked with one after the order. He was so good at this that he could make preliminary judgment as to how they do things, how they act. He knew what they all could do. Out of all the board members, the real people that could hurt him were Hargreaves, Desmond and Anthony. And those three, they had a sense of comradeship, they normally always saw the board members as a part of an ancient ritual in a way. Like all of them were indispensable. They always sorted a way to protect everything from falling apart, so why did they all easily agree to just let him go. He knew they must have discovered his ploy, but how. How did they know all he did, or did they even know? His head was stuck in a jumble of thoughts. He couldn't just understand how all this had befallen him. Why would th

Adrian has never been happier in his life, the look of triumph was so obvious on his face that Anthony whispered to him to stop snickering. It was hard not to, he had taken down a long time businessman, although he had lots of help it still felt good. He knew though, that Huns will not be gone for long, people like them won't be where they were if they gave up easily. At last, Desmond closed the meeting for the day and he got up quickly from his desk exiting the room after pleasantries with everyone. He went straight towards his office, he needed to check if Adeline and Blinks were okay and if there was any need to actually put up a backup plan. He reached Mr Anthony’s office to find Blinks putting some balm on the girl’s cheek while she sat down on the sofa smiling like a little kid who bought candies. “Huh what's going on?” He asked as he walked in. Blinks looked at him. “What's going on is, next time don't use the girl as cannon fodder. She can't go around taking hits in the fa

Adrian raised his eyes upon setting his sights on the cold demeanor in which the female board member regarded him. He bowed a bit to her. “Ma’am?” He voiced out to let her know he agreed to talk with her. Just as he spoke, Mr Desmond smiled and stood up from the chair, the Receptionist followed him as they both left the booth. “We need to talk,” she began, gesturing for him to come into the receptionist space. Adrian turned around, discovering the place to be larger than it actually looked. There were three chairs stationed in the area and she gestured for him to sit on the one that made him directly face her. “So I am going to start, who are you?” She looked into his eyes with such ferocity that he knew he couldn't lie bluntly to get out of this situation. “Adrian Richards,” he replied with a straight face. “Not Adrian Brooks?” She asked him.Adrian sighed, he was fed up with the little game she was playing with him. “Look, what is this about? I don't like this atmosphere,” he sp

Adrian sighed as he did and would hear her ramming against his door. He shook his head and started to go over to eat when he decided against this, he needed to stop running from fights, the sooner he fought them the earlier he could resume the peace and quiet that he loved. He walked to the door and clicked open the door and got out. Maria was shocked that he would come out, she stumbled back. “Is there a problem with you?” Adrian asked, looking into her eyes with an unflinching will. Her expression changed from shock to fear within a second. He however didn't soften his gaze because of that, he instead fixated them on her. “What are you doing?” She asked. “Did you just talk back to me?” She asked, staring at him still in disbelief. “I just did, what are you going to do about it?” He scoffed. She probably still hasn't realized that she wasn't necessarily anything to him at the moment. He wasn't under anyone anymore, the obligation that was tied to him was to help out in getting Mr

Adrian looked at her with a smile, his lips were spread in a wicked grin. His eyes were more sinister. “I don't know, what can you offer me?” He looked at her. “I really don't think it is my place to demand something from someone so high and mighty like you,” he smiled. Maria sighed. “I can get you money if that's what you want…” she started but Adrian’s absurd and sudden laughter cut her short. “You think I need money?” He laughed again, this time it wasn't a scheme but he really did find it genuine that she would think that he would need money. “I don't want your money, I am well off, thank you,” he nodded. “So what do you want?” She asked. “What if I say I want you,” he looked at her with a serious gaze. Maria stepped back and swung her hand forward to slap him again but this time he caught it. “Oh, I don't swing that way, I am more of a peaceful and slow guy,” he said, teasing her. “How could you even consider that,” she shifted backwards as she rubbed her wrist. “Oh hey, I

Adrian picked the call in front of Rose not wanting to arouse any suspicions from the girl as there were none. “Hello,” he greeted with a cold tone. “Hey, how have you been? It's been long since you came over, I just wanted to say hi,” she said in a soft voice.“Oh right, Thanks. How is Peniel?” He asked immediately, trying to cut off any attention she thought she had towards him. Sarah was a snake and he wonders why her call always aligned with the moment he was at Rose’s place. “We broke up a long time ago,” she replied succinctly.“Oh, sorry. What happened?” Adrian’s blood was boiling by the second and he felt like he needed to punch someone in the face. Rose paused as she could see his anger. She looked at him and then gesticulated with her hands and fingers. “What is it…?” She signed to him, using her luth too but not speaking, she moved the lips slowly enough for him to read it. “Nothing much, just realized he is just an obnoxiously cruel person,” Sarah replied and Adrian ma

The grand hall was in utter disarray, a cacophony of raised voices and frantic gestures. The revelation that Adrian was the sole heir to Mr. Brooks’ empire had thrown the room into chaos. Lady Barbara was on the verge of fainting, Ada was livid, and Raymond and Lazzaro were locked in a heated argument with Anthony, who was valiantly trying to maintain control. It was then that the door to the hall creaked open, and the man who had been presumed dead, the very man who was the catalyst of this storm, walked in.Mr. Brooks stood at the entrance, his imposing figure framed by the light filtering in from the hallway. His presence was like a cold gust of wind that swept through the room, instantly silencing the tumult. All eyes turned to him, the shock evident on every face.“Father?” Adrian’s voice was the first to break the silence, disbelief etched in every syllable.“Yes, Adrian,” Mr. Brooks replied, his tone even, though his eyes softened as they met his son’s. “I’m alive. The weight of the moment was palpable, each step they took echoing on the gravel driveway like the ticking of a clock counting down to an inevitable confrontation. Adrian’s heart raced as they reached the grand entrance, the large oak doors standing tall as if guarding the secrets within. For Adrian, this was a place of many firsts—the first time he set foot in the Brooks estate as a member of the family he was about to reveal himself to. The mansion’s grandeur could not mask the rot that had festered within its walls for years. Today, that rot was about to be exposed. The doors swung open, revealing a dimly lit grand hall. Lady Barbara stood near the fireplace, her posture straight but her face drawn with weariness. Ada and Raymond sat on one of the long couches, their expressions impatient and guarded. Mr. Brooks glanced at Adrian, his expression softening as he saw the storm of emotions in his son’s eyes."Adrian," Mr. Brooks began, his voice calm but heavy with the weight of what he needed to say. "I know you have a lot of questions. I owe you some answers."Adrian’s gaze remained fixed on the windshield, his jaw clenched. "You think?" he muttered, his tone sharp. "Why didn’t you tell me you were my father? Why let my mother suffer all these years? Why leave us in the dark?"Mr. Brooks sighed, rubbing his temples as if trying to ease the guilt that had been gnawing at him for years. "I wanted to protect you, Adrian. But I realize now that I failed in doing so."Adrian finally turned to look at him, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and confusion. "Protect me? From what? From you? The events of the past few hours had left him seething with anger. “We need to get Rose somewhere safe,” Adrian finally said, his voice tight with restrained fury.Blinks nodded in agreement. “Agreed. She shouldn’t be here when we go after Lazzaro.”They didn’t waste any time. Within minutes, Rose was ready to go, her expression calm but determined. She wasn’t the type to show fear, and even now, after everything that had happened, she remained composed. “Where are we going?” Rose asked as Adrian helped her into the car.“To the police station,” Adrian said. “You’ll be under Penelope and Ramsey’s protection. They’ll keep you safe until this is over.”Rose nodded, trusting Adrian’s judgment. Before leaving, he dialed another number—Ramsey’s.“Ramsey, it’s Blinks. Adrian’s under attack. Restaurant in the high-rise. Get units there, now.”“Got it. I’ll send a team. As they approached Adrian and Rose’s table, he felt a chill run down his spine. He subtly shifted his position, placing himself closer to Rose. One of the robbers, a tall man with cold eyes, pointed his gun at Adrian. "Wallet, now," the man ordered, his voice a low growl.Adrian nodded slowly, trying to keep his movements calm and deliberate. "Sure, no problem." He reached into his pocket, pulling out his wallet and holding it out for the man to take.
