Enrique drove his car into the mansion. He should be jumping, smiling, and feeling elated. He should be running towards his home to spread the good news to his mother and the entire Lacanters, not walking with his head slumped and falling below his shoulders.

But what would have been a news had turned into the worst miserable news he would probably ever spew from his trap. And in place of a file including transfer of position from Harrison Wolfe, it contained a single sheet of paper, crumpled at the edges, with the Sun Group’s letterhead stamped at the top. The words on it burned into Enrique’s mind like a brand: “Termination of Contract – Effective Immediately.” The $17 million roofing deal, the only thing keeping the Lancasters in The Sun Group’s good graces, was gone. And it was his fault.

Enrique’s hands shook as he gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white, his Porsche idling in the driveway of the Lancaster mansion. His $200,000 suit was a mess—tie loose, shirt untucked

The following morning, everyone in the Lancasters’ mansion tried to ooze off their ill feeling towards Enrique, but they just couldn’t. He had made a terrible mistake that put them in jeopardy. Now, the world will laugh at them. They dragged their sore bodies to the dining room for breakfast. All except Enrique walked down the stairs to have breakfast, which Gary had already prepared two hours before the sun hit their sad faces. Gary had grown to love cooking. After spending years in the kitchen with the Lancasters, preparing breakfast and dinner, he grew to love the smell of sizzling bacon, the crackle of eggs in the pan, and the way flour dusted his hands when he kneaded dough for fresh bread. Cooking was the one thing the Lancasters couldn’t take from him, a quiet corner of peace in a house that had always treated him like dirt. Over the years, he’d learned to find comfort in the rhythm of chopping vegetables, the warmth of the stove, the small pride of a meal well made. Bein

Kage’s presence seemed to spark a fire of joy in the room. But it only lasted for less than ten seconds. Everyone knew that despite Kage being one of the top dogs of the city, the Sun Brothers might not approve of his request. Those brothers were so powerful and unreachable. They were as firm as a mountain in the middle of the sea. No amount of wave from surrounding New Yorkers could make them concede. Kage walked in and walked towards Madam Ann and kissed her forehead. Then, after giving a glaring shot at Gary, he walked over to Evelyn and kissed her passionately on her lips. Too intimately that the William had to clear his throat. They were at the table and the dining room was not a place to display affections. “Come on, everyone. Smile, it’s just one contract. It is no big deal.” Kage said, trying to losen the thick cloud in the air. But all he got was breif forced smiles and total silence. Gary kept watching the scene from the kitchen. This was the braggart, Kage who had tr

“Um… nothing. I just, um, you know, I was there when the Sun Brothers chased Enique out of the office like a child. You… you should have seen the look on the poor guy’s face. He was crying like a little baby!” Gary said, ensuring his smile was wide enough for comfort. At that, Donald flared up. He got up from his seat and rushed to Gary. He grabbed Gary’s shirt by the collar and was about to land a fist on his jaw when Madam Ann stopped him. “Wait a minute. Did you say you were in the office? The Sun Group company?” Madam Ann asked. Gary kept his cool, gently shoving Donald away. “You heard that right, mom. And oh, those dudes, um… yes, Kevon and Devon. They bowed to me, you know. I mean, I was surprised myself. Anyways, they said they would consider my plea and save your asses.” he ended, wiping one dish after the next. Donald wanted to laugh at Gary’s trashy words as he would always do, and so did Williams. But this was not funny. Gary was becoming too confident, more confiden

  • A Man Called Revenge   Chapter 24: "Look, It Is Master Wang!"

Quickly, Serena ran up to him and bowed to him, handing him his exclusive suit to put on. Then, she walked up to the police officers. “Good job. But next time, don’t you dare lock the cuffs on his wrists, not even if he asks you to!” she said to them and turned around to leave. Gary sighed. He breathed heavily, embracing the new, fresh air in his car, a sharp contrast to the stinky, harsh perfume from Kage’s body. “Master Wang. You should not go through all of this stress, my lord. I mean, you can eliminate the entire Lancasters, the Howards, and any other person who displeases you. You have all the power now, Master Wang. That is the least of your worries.” Serena said calmly, adjusting his tie. Her voice was as smooth and creamy as fresh honey from a bee hive. Gary turned to Serena and smiled. “You look pretty today,” he said casually. Serena blushed, her cheeks turning red. “Um… thank you, Master Wang.” “How is my grandmother holding up?” he asked. Serena nodded, wondering w

Blackgold Refinery wasn’t just another company; it was a cornerstone of the Wang Imperium, a behemoth in the crude oil game. And Gary needed to make sure it was running clean. The car eased out of the city, leaving behind glass towers for sprawling industrial yards, where pipes coiled like snakes and smokestacks exhaled slow, heavy plumes into the sky. Blackgold loomed ahead—steel and concrete, all muscle, built to last. At the gate, the guards straightened up the second they saw the Rolls. Eyes wide. Hands tightening at their sides. Yeah, they knew exactly who was coming. The guards scrambled, their hands fumbling with the controls, the gates creaking open slowly. It was a massive automated gate. Not even the most skilled thief would be able to penetrate the massive metal. Gary stepped out of the car, his suit catching the sunlight, his face calm but his eyes sharp, scanning the yard like a hawk. Workers in oil-stained overalls stopped what they were doing, their tools clatterin

“Where is that sound coming from?” Gary asked Serena, who also had no idea. “M.. master Wang,” the old man began, lowering his head down as if in sorrow. “That is not a new thing, sir. Every day, those little kids are flogged. They are not allowed to rest; unlike me, they are not even paid. They are slaves and little children who…” Without waiting to hear the whole story, Gary stormed off, walking like he was heading into a war zone. Serena trailed along, and his security guards too, armed for any curveball. ‘Slaves?’ ‘Little children?’ In his company? Finally, after sourcing for the sound, Gary got to a bunker. The door to the bunker was shut, and the guards were fast asleep, bottles of beer lying around on the floor. This irritated Gary to the core. Whatever was inside of that bunker, whatever he was going to meet, had already piqued his curiosity and anger, but seeing the lazy men called guards sleeping on-site only made his blood boil hotter, like a pot left too long on the s

The boardroom at Blackgold Refinery was a sight—big glass windows letting the sun pour in, the light bouncing off the polished table, making the whole place glow like a fancy showroom. But the mood inside was anything but bright. It was thick with greed, the kind of air that stinks of dirty money and dirtier plans. In the boardroom sat 12 of the upper echelons, men who literally controlled Blackgold. They were dressed sharply in suits that cost more than most folks’ cars, golden watches flashing on their wrists and cigars smoldering in ashtrays. But their laughter was rough, their words sloppy, like they’d already had too much to drink even though it was barely noon. “Look, we are here for a meeting and not to get drunk to stupor,” Daniel said, laughing out loud as he gulped down another bottle of Hennessy cognac. “Look, we have to celebrate this big win, dawg. We talking 500 fucking million dollars sliding right into our pockets. This is good money, oil money.” Mike added, adjus

  • A Man Called Revenge   Chapter 28: Kage Howard

Kage Howard smoked the last pipe of his Gurkha Royal Courtesan cigar and squashed it into the ashtray. Then, he grabbed his shades and slid them on. He got out of his car and began to walk majestically into the building. All eyes were on him. Unlike Enrique, who was also a hot bloke, Kage was ten times more powerful. His father, Mr. Howard, was not a figure who rolled with top dogs. He was a top dog himself, and his son was only a representation of him. He strolled into the reception area, ready to meet with Kevon and Devon. Now, the Howards and the Sun Brothers were dragging a spot for the top, but the Sun Group was winning; they never lost to the Howards Group. One time, the Howard family made a wrong investment and went bankrupt. In order not to fall off the market, they decided to sell their shares. The Sun Brothers were quick; they offered to buy 51% of the Howard family’s shares, but Mr. Howard immediately declined. He was not going to share his firm with his competitor. He

The Lancaster family reclined at the table to have breakfast and pray to Buddha, their usual ritual. Evelyn fought hard to keep her eyes off Gary, who was seated at his usual spot, the corner of the dining room, where he would sit on a small seat to eat his meal. “You know, Gary is a really good cook,” Evelyn said out loud. “He never fails to impress me. I’m thinking, instead of staying at home all day doing nothing, we could set up a business for him under our name so he can attract huge clients.” Everyone stopped eating to look at Evelyn, whose face was more radiant than it had been for a long, long time. “I mean, we should open a restaurant and make him manager. He would be able to get himself busy and take care of his grandmother. With the recent $450 contract, we are attracting so many clients and partners. They would definitely want to try the Lancaster’s restaurant. Gary would be putting his skill to use.” The dining was quiet. Even Gary had his food stuck halfway down his

“Gary, wait!” she said softly, her voice trembling now. “I know I’ve hurt you. But this… this isn’t about some hidden wealth or status or making some rich guy fall to your feet. I don’t care about the money. It’s you. You’ve always been the one I wanted. I… I just didn’t realize what I had until it was too late.” Her eyes glistened as she stepped closer, her words growing more desperate. “I’m sorry, Gary. Truly sorry.” For a moment, it seemed like the world had paused. Gary remained still, his back to her, contemplating her words. He had never truly let her in, even when they were married. And now, after everything, she was here, asking for another chance. But could he trust her again? Could he let her in, knowing the depth of the wounds she had caused? Worse still? Did she have ulterior motives? Had she found out the truth and was now using it as bait? Slowly, he turned to face her, his gaze softening just a fraction. The fire in his eyes had dimmed, but there was still an unmist

  • Chapter 71: Too Late To Say Sorry?

The following morning, Gary was up on time, despite having slept really late. He woke up before everyone else as usual. He cleaned the entire house and did the laundry. He had less than a week. When he would eventually leave, he would definitely miss all of… all of this. The cleaning, the cooking, the shouting. None of it was pretty, none of it was comfortable. But it was a chapter of his life he would never open again, a room he would never visit. Once he was done, he would be out of the Lancaster's house for good. He would fully be Master Wang, heir to the trillion dollar empire. Gary flipped the eggs, setting them carefully on the plates one after the other. He made the family’s favourite for breakfast. Scrambled eggs, Pineapple juice and toast. A weird combination only them enjoyed. Gary hummed gently, trying to push away the thoughts of the mysterious rung nagging behind his head. He had made a resolve the previous night not to allow some mysterious shit ruin his day or allow

So, tomorrow, you will go to the best hair stylist in this country and get the most pretty dress for the party and You Will Get Married To Edmond, or I’ll make sure you regret it!” Madam Ann’s voice sliced through the dining room, sharp enough to cut glass. Evelyn went quiet. Gary, pressed against the foyer wall, held his breath, his fingers brushing the ring in his pocket—cold, heavy, like it heard every word. His legs still shook from the drive, Lola’s warning ringing: “Your grandfather’s alive. That ring means he’s close.” He’d meant to slip upstairs, avoid this mess, but Madam Ann’s screams hooked him. Now he stood frozen, eavesdropping, heart thumping loud enough to give him aw

  • Chapter 69: Sacrifice Or Foolishness?

Gary returned back home to the Lancaster’s mansion. His legs were shaking but his mind was steady. It was probably the cold or something worse. He sat in his car, parked in the driveway, and hit his head on the steering wheel. Though strong, it gave him comfort for a moment. His grandfather was still alive? And he was still after him? Gary leaned back in the driver’s seat, his hands still gripping the wheel, the ring cold in his pocket. He was not so sure what scared him more: Whether it was the fear of being dragged to an altar and getting roasted before some useless Xue Wang god shit, or it was getting killed and kidnapped by his grandfather. Or whether it was facing his grandfather himself. The old man pulling strings from China. As he raised his head up, he sighed. What more surprises lay in store for him? First, he was a loser, a nobody. And somehow, he found out his true identity. He was the heir to some Trillion Dollar Empire. Snap! Just like that, in the blink of an eye.

  • Chapter 68: The Ring

Evelyn’s eyes widened, her hand over her mouth, staring at Gary like she’d never seen him before. Madam Ann’s jaw dropped, her arms unfolding, tequila glass forgotten on the table behind her. The staff—maids, a cook peering from the kitchen—froze, whispers starting. “Did you see that?” one muttered. “Guy’s got hands—where’d that come from?” Kage clutched his face, stumbling back, shock mixing with his usual sneer. “You… I knew it, you’re not just some bum,” he rasped, voice wobbly but still digging, that envelope’s promise—Find The New Heir—flashing in his head. It couldn’t be, could it? That Gary was actually the heir. “First Wolfe bows, now this? Who the hell are you, Gary?” Gary let go, stepping back, his face blank but eyes steady. “Nobody,” he said, slow, shrugging like it was nothing. “Just sick of your noise. Keep your hands off her, or I won’t stop next time.” His voice stayed low, but it carried—years of taking hits had taught him how to throw them, too. Nobody clocked

  • Chapter 67: Who Are You?

The following morning, Gary woke up really late. This pissed off everyone. They had tried banging on his door, but there was no response But they did not know that he returned home late at night at 4 am. Gary had a hard time sleeping as he kept observing the ring. It was… out of the world. He had tried to get information about where the ring came from, what the strange symbols engraved into the band of the ring. He had tried decoding what it meant or where it could have possibly come from, but he could not. There could be only one person who knew. His grandmother. He got up and walked into his bathroom to freshen up quickly. He had a long day. He would first drive straight to his mansion to meet his grandmother and ask her what that ring meant and if she knew anything. He dressed in his simple jeans and a faded black tee, the kind that made him look like he was still dodging rent, not running an empire. Downstairs, the house was a storm. Dishes clattered, voices snapped, someo

Gary froze, the spit still stinging his skin, his mind racing. It was disgusting. But Gary did not charge.
