Episode 6

“What do you mean you don’t know? My uncle was left in your care and you blew it!” Daniel thundered at his uncle’s head of security, his face red with anger.

He and Jane had driven straight to his uncle’s place to check on what was going on and saw the security there relaxed, as if nothing had happened.

“I swear sir. He asked us not to follow him that it was just the grocery store. Besides, one of us eventually followed him, I guess they have him too,” the chief security explained, his voice trembling as he met Daniel’s furious gaze.

“Oh my goodness! We have to do something. I can’t let my uncle die,” Daniel complained in fear, his hands clenched into fists. He felt a gentle touch on his shoulders and turned to see Jane, his girlfriend, looking at him with concern.

“Calm your nerves. Let’s go home and get some rest, I’m sure we’ll find a solution in the morning,” she said, patting his shoulders for comfort.

“You’re right. Let’s go home. We have some people to pay a visit tomorrow,” Daniel said finally, his voice cold and determined. He had a plan in mind, and he wouldn’t rest until he had seen to it that everyone who had wronged him in one way or another paid for their sins.

They left his uncle’s house and went to his. It was a multiple bedroom mansion, even Daniel couldn’t count. It was fully furnished and had the best furnishings in the country. It even had quite a number of gold. It was everyone’s dream house and Daniel was eternally grateful to his late father for leaving it behind for him.

It was finally morning and Daniel and Jane got dressed and got into his car to go pay his ex-family a visit.

At first, Lisa was surprised to see him. She opened the door and gasped. “Oh, what are you doing here?” She asked, her eyes wide.

“Is your mother home?” Daniel asked, ignoring her question.

“Yes, she is home, why?” Lisa asked, feeling nervous. She sensed something was wrong.

“How about your brother Kevin? Is he home?” Daniel asked impatiently, pushing past her and entering the house. Jane followed behind him, giving Lisa a sneer. She hated Lisa for hurting Daniel so much.

“Alright, look Daniel! You can’t just walk in here when you please,” Lisa shouted angrily, trying to stop him.

“Oh, but I can. Since I didn’t meet your mother and brother in their house, I figured they’d be here. I have something for them, please let them know I’m here,” Daniel said casually, as he walked towards the living room. He had a smirk on his face, as he held two envelopes in his hand.

“You’re unbelievable,” Lisa muttered, following him.

“If it isn’t Daniel Sampson. Mom! The poor son of a bitch is here. He’s probably here to beg us!” Kevin said, as he saw Daniel enter the living room. L

“We don’t want to hear your apologies, scum bag. Leave my daughter’s house,” Gloria said, as she appeared on the scene.

“I’ll go. Have this,” Daniel said, handing Gloria and Kevin an envelope each, which they collected curiously.

“What’s this?” Gloria asked, opening her envelope and bringing out a document of two pages. So did Kevin.

“What is this?” Gloria asked, dropping the document in shock.

“It’s an invitation to court, Mrs or should I say Miss Gloria, and you, Kevin,” Daniel said cockily, waving the envelopes in front of their faces. They dropped the documents on the ground fearfully, as they realized the gravity of their situation.

“What’s the meaning of this?!” Kevin shouted with a shaky voice, trying to sound confident. He looked at Daniel with a mix of hatred and fear.

“Oh, it’s just a little case between your ex-husband and you, and of course, you, Kevin, between all those women whom you have raped over the years,” Daniel said with a cackle, enjoying their panic.

“Impossible. And who says I’m guilty?!” Kevin shouted, trying to defend himself. But Daniel remained composed, and gave him a cold stare.

“You know… I went and dug up a lot of dirt about you two. How you scammed both your husbands and absconded with their money, Gloria, and how you performed atrocious acts against women, Kevin. You should be ashamed of yourself,” Daniel said, his voice dripping with contempt.

“With the kind of proof I have against you, you won’t escape prison,” he added, as he watched their faces turn pale. They were at a loss for words, as they realized they had no way out.

“Oh, and, save up all that money you’ve been extorting. You are going to need them for very good lawyers,” Daniel said, and turned around to leave. He had said enough, and he wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible.

“Daniel! Daniel, please wait…” Lisa said, holding Daniel’s hand. She looked at him with pleading eyes, hoping he would show her some mercy. But he yanked his hand out of her grip, and glared at her.

“Oh, and one more thing,” Daniel said, remembering one thing he had forgotten to mention. He smiled wickedly, as he delivered the final blow.

“As you may already know. Or maybe you don’t. The property in which you stand in belonged to my father, and has now been passed down to me,” he said, as they gasped in shock. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

“Not just that, I also own the properties that your mother and brother currently reside in, and unfortunately, I’m gonna need you two to vacate the property in three days,” he said, with a smirk on his face.

“My sincere apologies,” he said sarcastically, as he looked at their confused faces. They wanted to pounce on him so bad, but they feared for their lives. They knew they were already in a lot of trouble, and wished they had done something differently with him. But if wishes were horses…

“No comments?” He asked, looking at them one by one. They only sighed, but kept mute. They had nothing to say, and they knew it.

“Alright then, we will be taking our leave, and see you lot in court,” he said, with a wicked grin. Jane grabbed his hand, and headed for the door. She was proud of him, and how he had handled the situation.

“Daniel, wait,” Lisa finally spoke up, and Daniel stopped in his tracks. He turned to look at her, wondering what she wanted.

“Thank you… for not evicting me from this house. It means a lot to me,” she said calmly, but Daniel shrugged.

“Wait till you see the rent. With your new position at work, you will leave on your own,” he said coldly, with a wicked grin. He wanted her to suffer, just like he had.

He saw her bite her lip in annoyance, and he felt a surge of satisfaction.

“You see what you’ve caused?!” Lisa shouted at her family, once Daniel was already out of the house. She blamed them for ruining her life, and making her lose the man she had once loved.

“What? We didn’t do anything. We only wanted the best for you, my sweet girl,” Gloria said, trying to act innocent. She didn’t want to admit that she had used Lisa for her own selfish gain.

“Oh, please. You are the one who went along with all the advice anyway… no one forced you to,” she said, with a sneer. She tried to shift the blame to Lisa, and make her feel guilty.

“I hate you, mom! Both of you! Get out! Now!” Lisa screamed, as she pointed at the door. She couldn’t stand to look at them anymore.

……

Yes, hello? Any update?” Daniel said, as he picked up his phone. He had just left his ex-wife’s house and was in the car with Jane, heading home.

“Yes. We have gotten a location,” one of his uncle’s men said. Since his uncle had been kidnapped, they had been working their asses off to find a way to get to him without paying such an outrageous amount or giving them the substance.

“Text me the location and prepare our helicopter. We’re going there now,” Daniel said and hung up. He was determined to rescue his uncle, who was the only family he had left.

“Like right now?” Jane asked, her voice laced with concern. She was worried about Daniel. He hadn’t been himself ever since. He made impromptu decisions and rarely took care of himself.

“They may change their location any minute, so we have to get there now. Will you join me?” He asked impatiently, as he looked at her with a serious expression. He wanted her by his side, but he also didn’t want to put her in danger.

She kept silent for a moment, thinking of what could go wrong. But she couldn’t possibly abandon him now. She loved him, and she wanted to support him.

“Okay, fine,” she said, nodding her head. He smiled slightly, and squeezed her hand.

“Are you sure that this is the location?” Daniel asked Henry, who was the top guy in his uncle’s case.

They had already boarded the helicopter and could see the warehouse where they had tracked his uncle to. It looked deserted and dilapidated, but Daniel knew that appearances could be deceiving.

“Yes, sir. We are certain. Give the order, let’s raid the place,” Henry said, his voice confident and eager. He was communicating with Daniel through the Bluetooth.

Daniel shared a glance with Jane, who gave him a go-ahead nod. She could see the determination in his eyes, and she felt a surge of adrenaline.

“Alright, go,” he said finally, and they started heading towards the warehouse. There were about five other helicopters following his, with some of his uncle’s men inside. They were armed and ready to fight.

They were almost there, when suddenly…

Boom!

It blew up right in their faces. Within split seconds, it was consumed by fire. A huge explosion rocked the air, sending debris and smoke everywhere.

“Fuck no!” Daniel shouted in frustration and fear. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had hoped to find his uncle alive, but now he feared the worst.

“Fuck! Henry! Are you sure this is the place where my uncle was?!” He thundered through the Bluetooth, as they were still in the air. He hoped that Henry had made a mistake, and that his uncle was somewhere else.

“Sir…”
