A voice at night

"You're going to have to focus " Liam said for the first time since their arrival at the valley.

"I'm trying." He cleared his mind again, like Miss. Eloise had instructed and the fire stayed after a few trials.

"Good. That's progress. Now try to grow the fire. It doesn't require much... just focus again, and tell the fire what you desire it to do, and it'll obey you"

Lance closed his eyes and tried again to focus. And for a moment, he wondered what was going on back at his place, if anyone still remembered him? His colleagues at work and the manager who had sacked him. That was just about everyone he knew in his life, after his parents left the world.

Perhaps his parents had only transmigrated to another world? Like he had done... and he could find them?

Maybe he only had to search for the world they were in and he'd find them.

There was no need. A deep part of him knew they were gone forever.

He tried to focus back on the task at hand, only he couldn't feel anything again.
