Pregnant?
A flicker of light flashed in Ethan's eyes and he couldn't help but remember that night two months ago. Claire returned home drunk and that was the only time she let him touch her. They made love. Of course, the next morning, he was kicked harshly by her words.
A hope rose in his chest as he muttered, "You are pregnant! Does that mean..."
"No," before Ethan could complete his sentence, he was interrupted by Claire harshly. Shaking her head, she said, "It's not yours. The baby belongs to Derek Whitman, from the Whitman family."
Ethan's heart stopped. He felt his world collapsing around him.
Derek Whitman?
The rich heir of one of the wealthiest families in Springfield City?
Ethan couldn't believe his ears.
What does Claire mean?
She cheated on him while they were still married?
Most importantly, she actually got pregnant?
No... This cannot be true!
Ethan shook his head fiercely. At the same time, he felt a fire burning in his heart.
This betrayal... He was unable to endure the betrayal and humiliation Claire had just given him.
Sandra entered the room at this moment. Her face lit up when she saw Claire. She rushed over hurriedly, kneeling beside her daughter, and grabbing Claire's hand.
"My dear! You are home!"
"Look at you. You are drunk again! You know you shouldn't be drinking, Claire. You have to take care of Derek's baby! This child will make sure you marry into the Whitman family."
Ethan: "..."
Ethan was not a fool. He immediately understood the game. Sandra was obviously not oblivious to what Claire had done. She was well aware of everything, and she might be the instigator of all that happened.
Sandra turned to Ethan with a sneer and snorted coldly, "You can leave now, Ethan. You've served your purpose in the Andreson Family. We don't need you anymore."
Ethan stood frozen in place. After three years of hard work, sacrificing his pride, and doing everything he could to prove himself, this was how they repaid him.
Claire, the woman he had loved and protected, was carrying another man's child. Moreover, these people were behaving as if this was something they should take pride in.
"Sandra," Ethan gritted his teeth and said in a trembling voice due to rage, “you and your family wouldn't even be standing here if it weren't for me."
Sandra laughed cruelly. Shaking her head, she snorted coldly, "Oh, please. You are nothing without us and have never done anything that can support the Andreson Family. How dare you say we wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for you? Get out yourself. Don't let me kick you out!"
Ethan's eyes burned with anger. He had stayed silent for three years, enduring their insults, but he couldn’t take it anymore. Clenching his fist, he growled, "Do you have any idea what I've done for this family? I've protected all of you from things you can't even imagine. If it weren't for me, your family would have been destroyed long ago."
Sandra waved her hand dismissively. "Heh... Don't tell me you are creating another silly story. You truly are delusional, Ethan. Let me tell you, if it weren't for Claire's grandfather, you wouldn't have been qualified to even hold our shoes. We never needed you, and will never need you."
"Anyway, why are you still here? Are you going to stay around and take care of a baby that isn’t yours? If you have even a little bit of shame then get out of here!"
In that split second, humiliation, anger, and a series of other negative emotions began to overwhelm Ethan's heart.
Taking a deep breath, he tryied to calm down. Then he looked at Claire who was looking at him mockingly even in her drunken state, and then said coldly, "Fine. You want me gone? I'll leave."
A prideful person like him had given up on his pride for this family, but they made him wear a green hat. There was no need for him to stay here any longer. The woman he wanted to stay for had already betrayed him by cheating on him.
He turned toward the door, but before he left, he spoke one last time. "When I walk out of this house, the protection I've given you will disappear. You'll see soon enough, and understand the true meaning of despair."
With that, he slammed the door behind him, leaving the Andersons to their fate.
.....
Outside, the cold night air hit Ethan like a wave.
Looking at the huge villa belonging to the Anderson Family, several emotions appeared on his face. In the end, all that was left was an icy expression, seemingly capable of freezing everything.
Raising his hand, Ethan flicked his finger.
If anyone was there, they would have been shocked to see a green light flashing around his finger like chains before breaking apart, shattering into countless fragments before dissipating in thin air.
Then, Ethan turned and walked away.
Ethan's mind raced as he walked down the quiet streets of Springfield City. The weight of Claire's betrayal pressed down on him. The anger he felt earlier for them had already turned into something else. Moreover, as he walked further and further away from the Anderson Family, he could feel something filling his heart.
It was a relief!
For the first time in three years, his heart was relieved now that he was free.
As he walked away from the Anderson house, he could feel it. The darkness he had kept at bay for so long was starting to creep into the villa. He glanced back and saw dark fog-like air rising in the sky, and the position at which it was rising was the Anderson Family. This happened because the protection he had given to that family had already faded away.
When he returned to meet the old man three years ago, he had already sensed several cursed objects deeply rooted in several places in the Anderson Family. This was obviously done by one or some of their enemies who are aware of the hidden truth about this world.
He was unable to save the old man because the curse had already sucked away all his lifespans, but he suppressed all the cursed objects to stop it from affecting the Anderson Family any longer.
Now, the cursed energy he had suppressed for three years was stirring again.
He had warned them.
Now, whatever happened to the Andersons was no longer his concern.
Ethan turned his back on the house and walked away, disappearing into the shadows of the night.
He was done being the silent servant.
The next day, Ethan arrived at the Civil Affairs Office on time. His face was calm, but his eyes carried a hidden storm. He waited outside the building with his hands in his pockets, staring at the cars passing by on the street. The cold wind blew against his face, but he barely noticed.About twenty minutes later, Claire arrived in a shiny black Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The car stopped right in front of the office, and Claire stepped out. Her face was hidden behind large dark sunglasses. She looked every bit like the wealthy woman she was, wearing a designer coat and high heels that clicked sharply on the pavement as she walked. She glanced at Ethan with a sneer on her face, not bothering to hide the disgust she felt for him."Well, look who's here! I didn't think you'd show up on time. Are you that eager to be out of my life?" She said mockingly while pulling her sunglasses down just enough to reveal her cold eyes.Ethan didn't respond to her. He just looked at her with an expression
Ethan went directly to the Golden Spring Hotel after leaving the Civil Affairs Office. Golden Spring Hotel is the most luxurious hotel in Springfield City. Being the only five-star hotel in the city, it is not your typical hotel and is renowned for its extravagant services and high-class reputation. The building of this hotel towered above the city, with its shiny glass exterior reflecting the sunlight like a jewel. As soon as Ethan walked into the grand lobby, the hotel attendants spotted him and greeted him warmly. They already seem to know him, and their smiles were very respectful."Welcome back Mr. Graves." One of the hotel attendants greeted Ethan while bowing slightly.Ethan nodded at them but didn't stop or said anything. He made his way to the elevators that was located at the back of the lobby. He stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the highest floor where his suite was located. The elevator smoothly glided up to the top floor. It was fast and silent.Ding!
The next day, after breakfast, Ethan went out.Since there was nothing for him to do, he started wandering here and there. As Ethan wandered aimlessly, he hadn't realized when he arrived on a bustling street filled with the sounds of lively chatter. The street was lined with shops on both sides. Customers were busy entering and exiting shops, buying things that caught their interest. It was hot today, and despite the heat, the crowds were truly too busy shopping. Since it was Sunday, many people were on vacation. Thus, the number of people on the street had increased significantly.Ethan was dressed in his simple clothes. He looked around curiously like someone experiencing the city for the first time.Of course, it was not his first time. He was thinking how nice it would have been if there was no hidden dark side in this world. His appearance attracted disdainful glances from passersby, but he wasn't bothered by it."What's going on over there?"As he was walking, Ethan suddenly fo
Currently, that little girl wasn't the only one looking at Ethan. Everyone else was looking at him as well.Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Ethan crouched down and grabbed one of the old man's rough palms. He just held the old man's hand and did not move at all."Puchi!"The surrounding crowd couldn't help but laugh out loud. After all, they'd already suspected him to be a fraud. In their eyes, he was a pervert who was trying to attract the attention of a little girl who was not even 18 yet."What do you guys think he's doing?""I don't know, but it's definitely not about treating patients.""Heh, I thought he may have some ability, but it turns out he is here to make a fool of himself!""I've never seen a person who can cure heart attack by holding hands."All kinds of doubts and mockery flooded over like a tidal wave, but Ethan remained silent and calm. He seemed to be motionless, but in reality, there were traces of white mist that could not be seen by the naked eye being sen
Ethan left the crowd after saving the old man with a calm and unchanged expression. He walked back to the Golden Spring Hotel. As he entered the hotel, the attendants once again greeted him warmly, but Ethan didn't stop. He took the elevator to his suite.Meanwhile, in the Springfield City Hospital, an old man had been rushed to a VIP ward. A group of doctors were standing around his bed but their expressions were not right."Why does he look fine?"Doctors were puzzled about how the old man looked well even after a heart attack. This should not be the case for a patient who just had a heart attack. However, since he looked fine and the results of all tests were good, they decided to keep the old man under observation.Currently, in the brightly lit room, the old man lay comfortably in a hospital bed.Creak~All of a sudden, the door to the ward burst open and three people rushed inside."Grandpa!"A young man called out, hurrying to the old man's bedside. He was followed by another m
Three days later, Ethan could be seen standing in front of a man. This man's first name is Ryan and he is one of Ethan's subordinates. He is also one of the three Lord Protectors in the elite unit, the Silent Protectors."Captain!"Ryan saluted Ethan. When Ethan nodded at him, he immediately took out an envelope, and said, "It is here!"Ethan nodded and took the envelope before keeping it in his coat pocket. His expression didn't look right at the moment. "Captain!"At this time, Ryan respectfully spoke up, "People cannot be revived, so don't be too sad.""He treated me very well in the army, and it was also him who trained me. He also saved my life several times back then. The debt of gratitude I owed him is as heavy as a mountain. Now that he is dead, I don't know how to repay him. The least I can do is avenge him!" Ethan said with a cold look in his eyes. His voice was like the low cry of the grim reaper of hell. The person he was talking about was already dead, but the debt was s
Ethan followed Robert's gaze and looked up at the second floor of the hotel. To his surprise, he saw an extremely beautiful girl standing near the railing, talking and laughing with an elderly couple. Her long black hair flowed gently down her back, and her skin was fair like snow. She had bright clear eyes that seemed to sparkle with every blink, and her tempting red lips were curved into a slight smile. She was wearing a gorgeous white dress that made her look elegant and graceful, almost like a goddess.Ethan couldn't help but feel a little surprised. He had seen many beautiful women before, but this girl had something special about her. There was a calm and quiet aura around her, making her stand out from the crowd. Most importantly, she was a martial warrior. She doesn't seem to be older than twenty-four but she was already at the Second Realm of Martial Arts.In terms of talent, it can be said that her talent was top-notch in the dark side of this world. It was at this moment th
The killing intent was shocking. Very few people here had connections with the hidden face of this world, and so the majority of them didn't know what was happening. They only felt that it was becoming very difficult for them to breathe. On the other hand, those who knew what just happened revealed eyes filled with shock.Who was this person to actually dare to cause trouble here?He is courting death!"Sir, today is the happy day of my Orlander Family. You are welcome to enjoy the banquet, but please, do not cause trouble."The Orlander Family butler, Martin, stood out and said while coldly looking at Ethan. When it comes to strength and martial arts, even in Springfield City, today's Orlander Family could be said to be at the top.Martin did not dare to claim that he was able to walk alone under the sky. However, he was able to cover the skies of Springfield City with his bare hands and look down on all living beings with disdain. After all, he was a warrior at the Third Realm of Ma
