Chapter 8
"How did you even find me?" An angry Colin had asked
"My family owns the hotel, dumbo" he finally spoke up.
"How did you even get in here in the first place looking like that?"
He had asked, pointing to Colin's ragged clothes
"It's one of the things money can do for you" colin answers smiling
"You mean to tell me that all the money you spent here is yours?"he asked sarcastically , his eyes looking at colin from his legs till his head as way of mockery
"Of course, who else's would it be?" Colin folded his arma
"You lying son of a bitch!" Marissa cursed
"Marissa, tell me, why would I lie about something like that?" Colin raises an eyebrow
"For three years you stayed in my home with no job, three years" Marissa explains
"Okay?" Colin urges her to explain herself
"There is no other way you would have been able to afford this but my stealing my family's money" Marissa explains
"So you are trying to say that I have only used the last three years to steal from your family?"
Colin asks, shock written all over his face
"Of course! And it is the truth!" Marissa yells at Colin angrily
"You baffle me, Marissa, you do" Colin says, surprised how little her thinking can be, he had over estimated her.
"What does that mean?" Her new lover had chipped in
"I spent the last three years trying to impress your family, trying to get you to see that I loved you more than anything else" Colin laughed trying to hide the pain that was visible in his voice
"And I worked my ass out for you, for your family. I didn't even know how you manage your finances, let alone steal from you" Colin continues
"Besides, I am not a thief and I would never bring myself so low as to do that" Colin finished
"Did you guys just hear that? Did you hear that?" Marissa inquires turning around for back up
"Marissa, you need to calm down. This is a hotel and we would be making too much noise"
The hotel owner was saying that Marissa would have none of it
"He insults my family and all you can do is tell me to be quiet?" She inquires
"It is not what I meant" He sighs
"Then deal with this, and do it now!" Marissa yells
"Of course"He says
"Colin, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," he says turning to Colin
"Now, we can either do this quietly or we can make some noise about it" He warns
"I paid for this room, I ain't going anywhere" Colin rejects angrily
"Colin, I'd advise you to choose your words carefully and not try to provoke me as this would not end well for the both of us, for all of us" He warns
"Of course, this would not end well"
Colin answers
"Is something wrong with you today?" Marissa asks
"Yes, why? I was always obedient, eh? Well, I got fed up, and coupled with this betrayal of yours, it is too much to bear" Colin screams angrily, he couldn't believe he had feelings for a woman like her
"Just leave" Marissa says shaking her head like she felt pity for Colin
"I can't do that. I would like to show you something" Colin says and takes out his phone.
He was trying too hard to put his emotions in check and not try to do anything overboard.
But Colin needed this, just one proof to show them how powerful he could be and perhaps for once, Marissa would respect him.
He had managed for too long but now, he had his freedom and he could ruin them too, what a sweet revenge it would be to watch.
Colin could not wait to see the look on their faces when they finally find out who he is, that look, he yearned for.
Colin puts a call through to the housekeeper.
"Young master, have you decided to come back home?" The housekeeper asks unaware he was put on loudspeaker
"No, not just yet. And didn't I tell you to stop trying to convince me to come back home?" Colin angrily
"Forgive my curiosity young master, I just can't help it"The housekeeper says.
And for the first time in a long while, Colin appreciated the fact that the housekeeper didn't listen to him when he had told him to not refer to him as "young master" again.
"I told you to give me some time to..."C olin starts to Complain before the housekeeper stopped him
"And I gave you three months" The housekeeper noted interrupting him
"Your father is becoming impatient"
The housekeeper added
"Unfortunately, you have to cover for me as you already gave me three months"
Colin jeered
"So, yes. It was my mistake, it is just so hard to say no to you. I wonder why"
The housekeeper lamented
"Because I am your young master"
Colin explains
"Far from it"
The housekeeper objects.
Looking at their faces, Colin could see they were pissed and were waiting to see what game he was trying to pull here.
"I need your help"Colin admits
"Anything for you" The housekeeper says
"You know that Briscoe's Hotels?"
Colin asks
"The one just a few meters away from your in-laws?"
The housekeeper inquires
"Yes, that one" Colin agrees
"What about it?"
The housekeeper asks
"I want to purchase it"
Colin says amidst silent laughs from the three of them
"You mind if I ask why?" The housekeeper questions
"I just need to do something with it"
Colin answers
"But the hotel is way beyond your standard, young master" The housekeeper noted
"Just do as I say, would you?" Colin asks
"Sure, I'll be on it right away"
The housekeeper says
"You think we would be deceived by just a phone call?"
Marissa asks
"You even trying to play the joke of buying this hotel is an insult to my reputation"
The hotel owner infuriated, had said.
"You heard him, this is way below my standard"
Colin emphasized
"Well, we will see how far you can keep this up"
The hotel owner says and takes out his phone.
"Is this the police? I am the owner of the Briscoe's Hotels, please hand the phone to your in-charge available at the moment"
The hotel owner says and waits for a few seconds.
"Yes, thank you, sir. We just caught a thief spending the Williams' money in my hotel"
He explains
"Is he with you at the moment?" The officer asks
"Yes" He answered
"We will be there soon, keep him in sight please"
The officer says
"He ain't going nowhere" The hotel owner assures throwing Colin a death stare.
A few minutes later and the cops show up. They went straight to Colin after saying a few words to Marissa, her new lover and the Briscoe guy.
"There he is" He had said pointing to Colin
"You sure you want this done quietly?"
The cop had asked Marissa
"Yes, why?" Marissa questions
"Wouldn't it be better if we had his face pasted everywhere in the city so everyone can avoid him?"
The cop suggested
"No, his name would be attached to mine and I don't want to ruin my family's good name"
Marissa replies, smiling.
"Mr. Colin, you are being arrested for theft and have the right to remain silent as anything..." The officer was saying.
"Is this even right?" Colin had asked the officer handcuffing him
"You have something to say?" He asked, turning to face Colin
"Wouldn't you even ask whether I committed the crime or not?" Colin inquires
"You are something. Why would two of the top families in the city lie against a nobody like you?" The cop inquired
"He is a sore loser"
The hotel owner had added and Colin was taken away to a waiting vehicle.
Chapter 9 "You are something. Why would two of the top families in the city lie against a nobody like you?" The cop inquired "He is a sore loser" The hotel owner had added and Colin was taken away to a waiting vehicle."He almost had me there" Marissa admitted, sighing "Me too" The hotel owner had added And all three of them together laughed and joked about the call, with Marissa trying to mimic the phone call that he had made. "He is something, isn't he?" Marissa says "Tell me again, how did you find this guy?" Marissa's new lover had asked "You ask me how, and I don't know how" Marissa says "Now that I think about it, I believe something must have been wrong with me" Marissa admits "Well, I am glad that you got out of it" Her new lover says in a low laugh"Yes, I am glad too" Marissa agrees "I don't think this is the time to be sad, it is to be happy. You two just go home and enjoy yourselves as a couple, you deserve it" The hotel owner had said dusting his clothes
Chapter 10 As Colin was being driven to the station, he thought about his fate. Imagine he did have nothing, it only meant that he would rot in jail as no one would come for him. The cops kept turning to look at him as if to check if he would escape. They feared he could do something like that. "Get him down" The one who Colin had suspected to be their boss ordered. And they pushed him out of the vehicle. "This is the thief that wouldn't let me enjoy my shift" The boss adds and the others laugh. "What do we do to him, boss?" One of the cops had asked "Just get him to sign the paperwork" He answers. "What paperwork?" Colin asks, to no one in particular "The paperwork admitting that you stole from the Williams and are sorry for your actions" The cop explains"I would do no such thing" Colin spits out angrily"We will see about that" The cop retorted, smiling Colin was then taken to the investigation room where the rest of the questioning would take place. "Your name, sir" T
Chapter 11 "What do you mean? Why would a lawyer from the best firm in the country request for this piece of shit?" The cop laughed, trying to assure himself it wasn't true "Did we arrest any other colin? "I am afraid we didn't sir" another cop replied him. "Well, will you guys allow my lawyer to see me? I can't wait to see her reactions once she sees the bruises on my face" Colin grinned The cop moved closer to him and grab the collar of his ripped shirtWho in the world is he?What exactly is he hiding? "Is the lawyer really here to meet you? I doubt you have money to hire one" "Let go of my shirt" was Colin's short reply A smirk appeared on his face as he watched the cops march out of the investigation room Of course they bruised his face but instilling fear in them was more than okay for a revenge Few minutes later, the beautiful lawyer walked in Of course she works in the best law firm in the country, it's his friend Jenny "It's been a while sir, has it been three yea
Chapter 12Marissa couldn't sleep, she kept tossing on the bed while thinking of Colin ****No matter how much she thinks about it, something is definitely not right about him, to be honest, she also doesn't think Colin would steal her money but where would he get the money to lodge in an hotel and a presidential suite? He definitely has no money! She fed him for those three years they were together, bought clothes and shoes for himShe would take him to the salon to give him a new haircut every three months. She did everything for him."What is wrong? Why aren't you sleeping?" Martin, her new lover askedHe also couldn't sleep since Marissa kept tossing on the bed"You are awake?" Marissa sighed and sat up "I am sorry, did I wake you?""It's okay, something must be bothering you" Martin also sat up"It's about Colin, something is definitely not right about him" "What do you mean?" Martin yawned, maybe because he was feeling sleepy or maybe because
Chapter 13 "Then just take your phone and order some food or at least go to a nearby store and buy yourself foodstuffs, it's not like you can't cook" Eric was going to yell at him but cautioned himself. He is his 'Young master' after all "Oh right, what about the hotel?" Colin asked, now walking into the bathroom "The one you told me to buy?" "Yeah" "I was going to buy it but one of the owners kept begging me, I had no option but to leave it. Why do you want that hotel so much tho? Compared to all the hotels you own, it's way more cheeper" Eric asked curiously "I will get back to you later on that, how is Dad?" Colin opened a new container of shampoo and applied it on his hair The smell was so lovely that he couldn't help but smile "Your dad is alright, he keeps asking when you will be back home" Eric replied "I will be back soon, don't worry about that" Colin said, messaging the shampoo on his head "Young master" "Hmmm?" "Why aren't you asking about your mother?" As soo
Chapter 14"I am glad your hair came out good" she grinned "So what are you going to do from now on?" She asked, returning the hair products back to where she took it from ****"Good question, what should I do?" Colin smiled sheepishly but Jenny didn't understand that"Well if you have nothing to do here in Hackney, you might as well return home. You probably have a lot to do" Jenny leaned on the wall with her arms folded"Will you stop talking about home? It's not like I am not going to return" Colin rolled his eyes"When are you planning to return? It seems you have forgotten that you are the heir of.....""I know that!" Colin interrupted "I know that and I'm gonna return home, I just have some things to do here. Will you stop nagging already" Colin groaned and walked back downstairs while Jenny followed him"You are really something else" Jenny shook her head. She reached in her bag and brought a car key"I brought you a car. You can drive, rig
Chapter 15 But it seems the slow witted person is Martin How in the world did he not notice that Marissa is still putting on Colin's engagement ring. Or is he only pretending not to know? He is the type to mind his business but always joined in Maltreating and insulting Colin for $100. "I bought a new house so Marissa and I will be moving out today" Martin dropped the news "Ugh?" Marissa raised her brow.It was news to her also. He never discussed moving out with her "That's a good thing" Catherine giggled "he is so much better than lowlife" she added and stood up "I am leaving for work. See you guys later" Once she was out, Marissa stopped eating and turned to martin in disbelief "What?" Martin asked like he did not know the reason why she has that look on her face "Why didn't you tell me?" "I don't know, I wanted it to be surprise?" Martin shrugged "You have to be kidding me. Surprise or not, this is not appropriate" Marissa blurted out "What is not appropriate about
Chapter 16"Nothing much, I was just checking it out" he replied, hoping the answers will be enough for her to stop asking questions."You were just checking it out?" Jenny asked, she was full of suspicion"You are not thinking of buying that club, are you?""Fine" Colin sighed "I was thinking of purchasing it, But first there is something I must do before doing so""Don't even think of getting yourself involved in anything that has to do with that club, it is a club for criminals. You know what I mean, right?""Of course I do. They don't just do clubbing, they also sell hard drugs" "Not only that. They sell innocent girls into prostitution, and they rape any female bartender who misbehaves until she dies" Jenny added."That's horrible" Colin gasped "if you know all these, then why haven't you gotten the police to arrest them?""Lack of evidence. After doing dirty works, they always get rid of all evidences. And you know police can't arrest without evidences" Jenny explained."That's
