THE REST OF us were not able to speak — too stunned to do so. From the wolf on top of the rock, the remaining number of their pact showed themselves out of the bushes and echoed the deep howls. No, it was not only a howl. There were whimpers, neighs, and quacking. There was not a pact of wolves alone… but an entire zoo, with a variety of animals of all kinds. So this was why there were no animals on the North-eastern part of this half. Because they reside here somewhere not easily seen.

Say, when you were in a bad mood for instance, and you were walking to the market to buy something for dinner when you fatefully came across a cat staring at you — perhaps with its teeth bared as though it was smiling. Wouldn’t that make your heart flutter even at least for a moment?

He was carrying a lamb on his one hand, and a knife — a big knife on the other. Then, as the people turned their eyes on him, he slowly vanished in the air, like an ash that was blown by the wind into bits that no one can ever hold again. The lamb, and the knife, fell to the land with great confusion — for none of the people in the area were able to get hold of it. For that reason, they had to move the lamb — which they soon fou

I wanted it because it was what the world was made for — well, it seemed like it. But there was this hint of pain in my heart whenever I say that. All along, it was not particularly the money that I wanted, it was the things that I could attain from it. Money became the thing that h
