Death is a strange experience and so was everything related to it. It is the inevitable end that most try to avoid but few have escaped. Yet even those who are considered to be immortal, share a common trait, there is always something to guarantee an end to their existence. Death is the ultimate predator."Gasp!"Milas inhaled the fresh, sweet air that he thought he would never breath again. His eyes scanned the simple but lavish decorations of the room and realized that his was back to where he had slept. He was shocked as his body had no wounds or aches. It was like the memories of the torture he endured were nothing but a nightmare. The only thing that confirmed to Milas that it wasn't a nightmare was that he was stark naked. He may have been covered by a blanket but the realization that someone had striped him terrified him. Milas' imagination on the things that could have happened while he was unconscious only intensified the fear.He threw away the blanket and stood in front of
The training hall had to be the largest room in the whole mansion. Milas had ran out when he saw the sun in the sky with fluffy white clouds floating lazily across the blue canvas. Deogratius laughed at him before explaining that it was fake. The ceiling was equipped with technology that allowed it to look like different environments. The large plain white hall was the same and could simulate environments that were also affected by the ceiling. The room would even produce artificial weather and the sun here had no effect. Milas was intrigued by the technological marvels of the vampires and wondered if the human race would reach such a point. Deogratius walked to a control panel on the wall and changed the ceiling to a cloudless night with a bright full moon. The lighting in the hall also changed and Milas felt the cool breeze of the night brush against his face. He took a deep breath and gazed at the stars that dotted the sky. "AAAHHH!!"Milas clutched his hand to stop the bleeding
A bully... that was the only thing Milas could say about Deogratius. When they met after the door opened, Deogratius walked in and closed the door behind him. Milas didn't want to fight the maniac but he couldn't let his guard down either. Deogratius then looked at him with a smile on his face. "You are more tenacious and resourceful than I thought. I honestly didn't expect you to move let alone heal yourself. On the bright side, you can train for longer as long as blood is available. Now, let's test your limits." Deogratius disappeared and Milas tried to counter with a wide horizontal swing. The next next moment, something Milas didn't think was possible happened. His back hit the wall or what he thought was the wall. Milas had hit the ceiling that was more than twenty meters high. He was surprised by the fact that Deogratius had thrown him instead of punching him like usual. The thought didn't last when he saw the rapidly approaching ground. Milas shut his eyes and waited for the
Milas heard a whoosh and instinctively rolled to the side. A large axe pierced the hard floor right where Milas had been. He quickly attacked the air to his left with a dagger he had hidden in his clothes before sleeping. Milas knew that he would miss so he turned his body to the side to dodge the retaliation. A deep claw mark was left on his right side but he ignored the pain and punched his attacker. Milas' hand was caught and his body was lifted and thrown away. He had barely landed when a fist approached his face giving him a small window to dodge. The sound of the fist hitting the ground was stunning to his sensitive ears but he had no time to recover.Milas attacked with the dagger but his hand was caught and snapped at the wrist. The dagger fell to the ground and Milas was on the receiving end of multiple punches. His hand was held in a vice like grip and he could only use his other hand to block. Milas attempted a headbutt but an uppercut lifted him off the ground. He decided
The weeks went by faster than expected and Milas was two weeks away from his admission to vampire school. His body had undergone vast improvements and his resistance was on another level when compared to other vampires. Milas was clueless to this fact as Deogratius pressured him to improve even more. Milas was under the illusion that the training he underwent was common for vampires.Today, he was standing in front of the mirror and putting on the light armour that was provided. Deogratius had mentioned a test to see his previous improvement. The armour was given to him along with dual swords, a dagger and five flasks of blood. The swords were strapped to his back and the dagger to his right lap. A small bag hung onto his waist and allowed him to store the flasks together with somethings he might need.He met Deogratius at the courtyard and they walked to the stables. Two stallions with pitch black coats and thick, lustrous manes were saddled and ready for the journey. Milas got onto
Fear is one of the greatest driving forces in nature. It can give prey the push they require to escape a predator or even turn the tables. Despite the advantages, it can also freeze a creature where it would remain at the mercy of its hunter. Vampires usually have one emotion or character that is heightened while the others are generally dulled. Most have a high sense of pride and others have a short-temper. This makes them rather immune to fear but Milas was learning that everything is relative. He wouldn't be afraid of the beasts if he could outrun them. His situation was really making him panic.A loud hiss came from the tunnel with the snake and a serpentine head materialized from the darkness. Its eyes scanned the cavern and its forked tongue tasted the air. The snake picked up multiple scents of different blood. It followed the strongest source which happened to be the two dead leopards. It swallowed them with some effort which took it some minutes
There are very few things harder than gutting an animal with a blade longer than its body. It would have been easier if Milas didn't want to keep it fairly intact. Otherwise, he would have chopped it to bits and collected the crystal from the gory remains. The process took a while but he soon had a crystal in his hand and the headless corpse at his feet. The beast was fairly intact and Milas picked up the body and turned around to leave. He could hear the furious hissing and roaring coming from the cavern.Milas arrived and saw the serpent retreating to its tunnel while hissing. He looked around and saw the bear staring at him or more specifically the corpse in his hand. The bear looked genuinely heartbroken but it was instantly overshadowed by unyielding rage. Milas knew that he had fucked up and his initial plan was pointless. The bear charged at him but its rage made it predictable and easy to dodge. Milas leapt aside and ran towards the disappearing t
A rabbit was foraging on the forest floor with the dark entrance of a cave behind it. Two red dots appeared in the darkest depths of the cave and focused on the rabbit. The aura from the red dots immobilized the rabbit with fear. The red dots turned out to be the glowing eyes of a dashing teenager. He had a chiseled jawline with smooth skin that had a slight paleness similar to the glow of the moon. His sharp nose went well with his thin lips that were curled up in a smile. His black silky hair reached his shoulders and looked well maintained despite the length."Nothing like a victory snack." With that, Milas lunged at the rabbit that stood no chance against the speed of a vampire. His fangs dug deep into the animal and the sweet taste of blood entered his mouth. The blood had a slightly earthy scent and even faintly tasted like fresh fruit. The rabbit was soon drained of all its blood while Milas stood there with some blood on his lower lip and chin. Most of the blood was used to re
