Chapter 17: A Mysterious Side on Portal Dimention Building

[IT'S TIME FOR DINNER. HOPE ALL SYSTEM WARRIOR MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE SYSTEM WARRIOR MEMBERS ASSEMBLE...]

Narukha hissed while rubbing his right ear as he stepped into the dining gathering room. The echo of the speaker's announcement was also played in the members' dining room. He wasn't really bothered, because now he was taken aback.

The view of the entire member's dining room stretches wide. The shape was elongated so that Narukha could not see the end because it was blocked by a group of people. There are a bunch of benches and tables laid out like separate blocks.

[EACH LEVEL SIT TOGETHER WITH YOUR LEVEL SQUAD...]

[LEVEL ONE JOINS WITH LEVEL ONE, SO DO THE OTHERS...]

Narukha looked around as he walked. Through the middle block, there are a collection of twelve tables and benches, forming a horizontal rectangle. A number of players had filled in, and Narukha saw a signboard that said level seven.

'If this is for level seven troops, then level one...' Narukha followed the long line of seats to the right.

The further to the right, the higher the level. Meaning that at the very end of the right side is a level ten special seat.

Narukha's gaze immediately went to the far end of the left side. That meant the level one reserved seat was in the opposite direction from the direction Narukha was passing.

"Why don't you know—argh! Hey, you, when you step, take a look at the road!"

Narukha looked up at the source of the sound. A few meters away from him, there was a man with a large body scolding a man with a thinner body.

At first Narukha didn't care. But the big man then held the thin man's shoulders so he wouldn't step past him.

"What level are you, huh?" The big man looked fiercely at the thin man.

At first Narukha didn't care. But the big man then held the thin man's shoulders so he wouldn't step past him.

"What level are you, huh?" The big man stared intently at the skinny man.

Narukha frowned at the question. Why did his tone sound so dismissive?

"Ah, level two it turns out." The big man's mocking laughter rang out. "You actually dare to challenge me?"

"S-sorry, sir..."

Sir?!

Did he just calling that big man with 'Sir'?!

Narukha frowned even more. He didn't know why the thin man didn't dare to raise his head.

"If you have the guts, we can duel in the arena against monsters!" The big man's tone rose, snapped. "Don't act pretentious!"

The small man shook his head. Even when his chin was forced up, the man tried not to meet the eyes of the large man in front of him.

"N-n-no sir, you're level eight. I-wouldn't be able to duel... duel m-against monsters...."

"Argh! The way you talk just stutters!" The big man immediately threw the small man's chin to the left.

Narukha's gaze wandered around, watching how the other members reacted. But no one seemed to care one bit. Everyone, including the people passing by around the two men, just stepped in indifferently.

Narukha was astonished and in disbelief. Why didn't anyone try to save the slender man?

"Huh! I wonder why a guy like you got an invitation to join the System Warrior squad."

Then another man, who looked like a friend in the same level group, replied, "Hey, don't you know that he didn't pass level three? That's why he has to repeat level two from the beginning."

Suddenly laughter mocking the big man in front of the thin man boomed. His gaze flashed a petty glance.

"No wonder you didn't escape! Someone like you, what can you do?!"

Narukha spontaneously clenched his fists hearing the ridicule question. His heart heats up. Throughout his years of living in a poor, marginalized area, he has become accustomed to being subjected to unfair behavior.

But Narukha thought that the System Warriors were being unfair because of Carl's orders. Narukha thought, in this Dimensional Portal building, more members of the System Warrior army would not oppress.

After witnessing the scene just now, Narukha changed his mind. So, there is also oppression here? An area for elite people, let alone already being part of the System Warrior army—which is respected, is also doing the bullying?

Narukha laughed sarcastically. No wonder the residents in poor areas are ignored. Even the members of the System Warrior troop bullied each other. So, why had he been hoping for them?

"You are low level! Even low level is despicable, especially if you don't pass twice!" The big man slapped the jaw of the man in front of him roughly repeatedly.

No resistance.

Narukha gritted his teeth. He just wanted to approach the two men there to stop the fight. However...

"Narukha!" Someone suddenly grabbed his right shoulder from the right.

When he turned around, Narukha was embarrassed because he saw Cloe's figure again. Cloe had a horrified expression on her face, glaring in an implicit warning.

"What is it?" Narukha asked.

Cloe immediately approached Narukha's ear without releasing her grip on Narukha's wrist.

"You want to die? Don't come near there." Cloe's tone was pressing at the end of the sentence.

Frowning, Narukha looked at Cloe who had turned her head away.

"You want to let that man be humiliated in public?" asked Narukha. The fierce look in his eyes intimidated Cloe.

Actually, Cloe didn't expect that Narukha's reaction would be angry with the sight of the bullying. Moreover, Narukha first spoke to him at length. Unfortunately, their situation was not suitable for Cloe to joke around with.

"You don't have to respond to everything here," Cloe insisted. Instantly his aura changed.

Narukha was amazed by Cloe's instant change.

"I believe you are here for a purpose. Do you want to be their target and be distracted from your goals?" Again, Cloe tried to slip in a threat.

Because of the threatening question, it was as if Narukha had been slapped by Cloe. He was silent for a few seconds without giving any reaction. Narukha's eyes shifted to the two men.

The surprising thing was that the big man was already staring at Narukha. It was only a glance, but the grin on his face bothered Narukha.

Slightly taken aback, Narukha suddenly hesitated. Not out of fear, but Cloe's threat was true.

"Cancel whatever you plan to do now. I'm warning you." Cloe ended her sentence with a sharp look in both eyes.

In the end, Narukha had to cancel his intention. Provoked by anger, he did not think about the impact for the future. After shaking his head while exhaling roughly, he turned around and tugged Cloe's hand.

"I told you not to touch me, damn it." That's what Narukha said to Cloe.

Without waiting for an answer, Narukha immediately walked away leaving Cloe. So fast going the other way. At every step, Narukha stomped furiously.

He was really angry with himself for not being able to do anything for the thin man earlier.

Why do the members of the upper level even oppress the lower level?

If the troops who protect only suppress them, what about the residents in the poor areas where Narukha lives?

"Cloe," Narukha called Cloe when their steps were in step.

Cloe looked at Narukha questioningly. "What?"

"What actually happened here?"
