"Shane?" Angela called, tugging his sleeve as they walked to school "Yes?" "Are you ok?" he raised an eyebrow "I am... why are you asking?" "You seemed a bit... out if it today" "What do you mean?" Although thanks to their late night talk, Shane was able to settle the argument he had had with Bianca, that didn't change that he basically didn't get any sleep at all, since they both had to rush back home and get ready to school. "How you are up now is beyond me" he grumbled as he nuzzled his head in the make-shift pillow that he was trying to make with his arms, not listening to a word the teacher was saying, like always. Walking back home, Shane's mind was filled with an endless flow of question. What was that weird dream about? Why did it feel so real? What was that strange black fog? What about that monster that chased him and... who is Sebastian? "Sebastian..." he mumbled, his attention focused on following the cracks on the sidewalk, their wriggly and uneven course helping him keep his mind busy, even though it was just a little bit. He felt like he knew that kid but... for some reason he couldn't remember... why couldn't he remember? "Maybe I was too young? "Dude, you look like you've seen an alien, what happened?" Alex asked as he watched Shane stir his coffee for the past four minutes or so. He hadn't even added anything in it yet. Cold. That was the first thing he remembered when he first opened his eyes. It was cold, the air he breathed it was the proof of it, since it came out as a steamy cloud, making his whole body shiver in response. The creature blinked several times before it's eyes started to adjust to the dim light of the night. The cold feeling soon subdued as his fur quickly grew, covering his once fur-less body, warming him up. He was still frightened, terrified. Everywhere he looked saw nothing but darkness, hearing the howling and growling of predators a hundred times bigger than him. He panicky looked for shelter, for something, someone that could help him. Protect him. And that's when he looked up, seeing the starred sky. A sky clear of any clouds, his eyes fixing on the beautiful masterpiece that it was being displayed above him. 'Another fire?' Onerios thought as he smelled smoke in the air 'We need to leave before it catches up' he climbed down from the cliff he had been standing, walking towards a small bush and using the light on his head to communicate with his siblings, telling them to stick close and follow him. They calmly popped out from the bush and stuck to his fur. He then walked the opposite direction from where he smelled the fire, crossing a few streams just to be safe. Mother taught him that the wind could change suddenly, ending up trapping him in a circle of fire, so he always made sure to put as much distance between him and that danger as possible. Onerios thought of travelling to a new part of the forest, or a new forest altogether, seeing how this one was burning down. 'It's not fire season yet though... a human probably lost control of their camp fire again' he sighed, heading north as his siblings made themselves comfortable in his fur, taking a nap. Oneiros and the little human girl kept meeting several times after that day, mostly once a week, during what humans called "the weekend". She would often bring food with her, other times books or toys to show off to him, bragging about how she could already read complicated books like these ones while her classmates were still at easy ones that just told stories. Although, Oneiros was pretty convinced that she was just reading them to learn big words so to sound smart. It was quite a peculiar duo they made, while Oneiros was considerably older than her in age, both mentally and physically, he still enjoyed her company, his days became a little more busy when she was around, especially since he had to make sure she didn't fall off a cliff or in a river. "Y-you've gotta be kidding me..." Shane breathed out, dropping his coffee mug, causing it to shatter upon hitting the floor in his room. Shane was staring in awe at the screen of his computer, specifically, at the email that had just popped up in his inbox. An email from the people of the shady-ass offer from a while ago. He had sent them the finished product they requested, aka the virus, after a few days. Spending an excruciating long time bashing his head on the keyboard, fixing every little problem and making sure there was nothing wrong with it, he didn't want it to end up malfunctioning when they booted it up. Especially since, in case that did happen, he could very much end up having a bounty placed on him or a hitman that would come hunt him down.
