Beep... Beep...
"Shut the fuck up..." Shane mumbled, burying his head in the covers, trying to muffle out the annoying sound of the blaring alarm.
Unfortunately for him, the machine did not have ears... nor a soul for that matter, and therefore it did not listen to his plea, deciding instead to increase it's volume.
He let out a tired sigh, sticking his arm out from under the covers, patting around until he felt the off button, slamming it perhaps a little too strongly, causing the device to let out a sickening crack. But it's not like Shane cared, as long as he could sleep a little longer, he would have gladly thrown that cursed thing out of the window.
"Finally, some peace and quie-"
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Brother wake up! We are gonna be late for school!" a female voice called from the other side of the door, making the teenager groan. He lifted his hand, checking the time on the watch he wore "It's 7:30 Angela... school starts at 9... let me sleep" he let out a loud yawn "I'm not a morning person like you" he could practically hear her roll her eyes from behind the door.
"It's always better to get to class early on the first day! Don't you know anything about good first impressions?! Get your ass inside the kitchen in five minutes or I'll drag it there!" she threatened childishly, running back to the kitchen.
'Why does my little sister have to be so bossy? Couldn't I get one of those delicate and shy ones? Those who respect their older brother?' he thought annoyed, reluctantly crawling out of bed.
The second he kicked the covers off, the cold air instantly hit him, making him shiver.
"God why are mornings so fucking cold?" he quickly stumbled towards his closet and put on a jacket, he didn't own any night gowns, they were dumb and made him look like an old man, so he just used his jackets instead, they'd serve their purpose well enough and were a hella lot more stylish.
He headed out of his room, eyes half-lidded and vision blurry. Luckily he didn't need to see in order to get to the kitchen, their house was fairly small and he had memorized it's layout ages ago. Just down the stairs and to the right and you were in the kitchen. All he had to do was not trip and painfully tumble down the stairs, possibly to his death.
He soon reached said room, seeing Angela eat a full plate of scrambled eggs while their father quietly drank coffee, checking the news on his phone.
"Where's mom?" Shane asked.
"She already left for work, don't worry, I packed you lunch" his father assured, not even bothering to take his eyes off the device to look at him. Shane just rolled his eyes and poured myself a large mug of coffee, he would need it.
He then snatched a few cookies out of the jar, mindlessly sinking them in the bitter beverage as he still awaited for his body completely wake up. When the treat reached his mouth, he really enjoyed the bitter-sweet mixture created by their fusion.
"Are you going to drive us to school today?" he asked as he munched on his breakfast, noticing that outside it was pretty cloudy and there was a good chance that it could rain.
"I can't, I have to go to work soon, besides, you're not a kid anymore, you can go by yourself" he answered back sternly, his gaze not leaving his phone.
"Angela is" Shane muttered under my breath, but was still heard by the old man, receiving a hard glare in response "Walk her to school then if you're that worried" he growled back angrily, standing up and heading towards the door, grabbing what he needed on his way out before leaving.
Shane sighed, shaking his head. He quickly finished his breakfast and put the dishes inside the sink, he would wash them when he'd come back from class "Come on Angy, go get your stuff ready"
"I'm already ready, you're the one who's still in your pajamas" she pointed out with her fork, and she was right "You know it takes me literally 5 minutes to get ready right?" he joked, she just giggled "Oh really? Why don't we put that to the test? Get ready, I'm keeping count of the time starting froooom... now!" she whipped her head around and started keeping a close eye on the kitchen clock.
Well now, she challenged him. Shane could have told her that he was just joking. But he was never someone who would back down from a challenge, no matter how dumb or irrational it would be.
With a smile, he sprinted back towards his room, taking off his clothes and throwing on whatever he managed to get his hand on upon opening the closet.
The lottery ended up with a purplish long-sleeved shirt and a pair or ripped jeans, he threw on a pair of beat up sneaks as well, he couldn't go to school in his slippers now, could he? Although he wished to.
He then darted towards the bathroom, fixing his hair and putting on some deodorant, grabbing his backpack, which, from the weight, Shane guessed it probably contained only a few papers and maybe a pencil.
He then raced back inside the kitchen and hit the table hard with his hand as to click a button and stop the timer.
"Time!" he panted out "How did I do coach?"
"4:34, you kept true to your word, you could qualify for the fastest changing clothes Olympics" they both snickered "Let's get going, I'm sure you don't want to be late" Angela eagerly jumped off the chair and grabbed her colorful backpack, putting it on "I'm ready!"
Shane took the umbrella from the coat hanger and they both headed out, locking the door upon leaving.
'I'll definitely be late... not the best way to begin a new year' he thought, remembering that Angela's school was about 30 minutes away from his. It was currently 8:40, it will take them 10 minutes to get to her's by foot, so... yeah.
The two siblings went to different schools of course, her being 10 and him being 16.
Everyone would think that at least their mom or dad would accompany their youngest child to school on their first day, but not theirs, nope.
Their mother was a bank investor agent and basically lived in her office, same goes for the father, but while their mother spends all her time working, he prefers hanging out at local bars once his shifts ended. He's not an aggressive father, nor an alcoholic, he just likes to drink to the point where he forged that he even has a family to begin with, coming back home drunk and passing out on the couch.
Shane had to learn how to cook baby food and change diapers at the age of 7 because neither his mom or dad would be there to take care of Angela when she was little.
It wasn't like this before though, even though they were vague, Shane remembered that they used to spend as much time as they could together at home, playing with him.
But they became shit parents as soon as Angela was born. In the family, they all have dark brown hair and eyes, while she had blond hair and green eyes, it was more than clear that she wasn't dad's child, they even did a DNA test.
They decided to stay together for Shane's sake. His mother wanted to give her up for adoption, but from the moment the little boy held her in his arms for the first time, he felt an unconditional and explainable love towards that small creature, and he wanted to protect it with all his strength.
And that's how they came to today's situation, Angela had gotten used to almost never see her mom or dad, Shane was pretty sad when he thought that in all the drawings she used to make, she would write 'Big dadda' beside him and 'Tall lady, Tall sir' next to their parents. He basically became her parental figure, and still is to this day. He tries his best to make her happy, but it's not an easy task when you're a teenager.
A drop of rain falling on his nose brought Shane back to reality.
"It's starting to rain" she pointed out. He sighed, taking the umbrella and opening it, protecting both of them until they reached her school.
"Keep the umbrella, it looks like it's gonna keep raining for a while"
"But won't you get wet on your way to school?" he shrugged "My jacked is waterproof, besides, you finish before me, can you go home by yourself or do you want me to come pick you up?" she shook her head "I'm not a kid anymore! I'm a big girl!" he chuckled, ruffling her hair a bit "Don't! I just brushed them nicely!" she pouted.
"See ya home then little bunny" she waved at him "Bye big bear!" and then ran inside, a big smile on her face.
Shane, on the other hand, pulled up his hood and started walking again, his expression soon falling.
'Fuck... my jacked isn't waterproof, and the rain it's really starting to come down now...' he let out a frustrated chuckle.
"Arriving late and drenched to the bone on the first day of school, could it get any worse?"
By the time Shane reached school, the few papers that he had in his backpack were reduced to a mushy white mess, not to mention that he was soaked to the fucking bone. "I'm definitely not going to class like this... I'll probably have one hella of a cold tomorrow too, thanks dad" he grumbled angrily as he walked around the empty halls, making a sick 'squosh' noise at his every step and leaving wet footprints behind. 'The janitor will clean it anyway' he thought as he pulled out his wallet, thankful that it was waterproof. He went up to the vending and bought one super warm coffee, he needed to bring his body temperature up desperately, even if just by a few degrees. As he was walking back outside, Shane saw a nice, fluffy, warm looking coat hanging at a nearby coat hanger. A thought crossed his mind, he looked around before muttering a "Fuck it" and snatching it, throwing his soaked jacked into the thrash, putting on his newly acquired coat. "So fluffy" he mumbled as he snuggled i
"So this is your house huh? Not too shabby if I can say" Alex commented as they headed inside "Were you expecting a fucking nuclear bunker filled with weapons for the doomsday event? Much like the one in your house?" Shane replied sarcastically, earning a glare in response "We'll see who will laugh last in the end when that day comes" he scoffed back, offended. "Ok you two stop fighting!" Angela called, tugging her brother's sleeve "Shane I'm hungry! Can we have bacon?" "You already had bacon yesterday Angy" she pouted at his answer "But I want bacon!" he just sighed "I'll make some for dinner, how about that?" she pondered the offer for a moment before eagerly nodding "Oki!" "Go change and put down your backpack, lunch will be ready in 30 minutes" she darted off to her room, disappearing from their sight. "How do you get her to listen to you so obediently?" Alex asked, quite surprised upon seeing their interaction "I just give her a cookie whenever she does what I say and behaves"
It was 5:45 pm when Shane finally finished cleaning and tidying up the mess the two of them had made in the kitchen. He hid the freshly baked cookies inside a few random jars and put them on a high shelf, hoping that their parents wouldn't notice them. But, as he had learned several years prior, luck was never something he had on his side. The second he finished hiding the last jar, he heard the sound of the front door open. "I'm home" his father announced, walking in the kitchen, stopping upon finding his son there "What are you doing here?" "What? Can't I grab a snack in my own house?" he tried to act casual and come up with a believable excuse. "Not if you're supposed to be in school right now" he cringed "You know I hate repeating myself, give me an answer Shane" Shane stayed quiet, pondering his answer carefully. "Shane" that was his warning tone, he was starting to get angry. "I accompanied Angela back home, that's all" "And why did you skip your class-" "There weren
'Why am I here again?' Shane asked himself as he blankly stared at the blackboard while the teacher explained some subject that he clearly wouldn't have an actual use in real life, yawning and fighting against his falling eyelids in order to stay awake. His idea was to remain at home saying that he was sick or something, but his dad didn't buy it and kicked him out first thing in the morning. 'How much longer do I have to endure this torture?' he gave a quick look at the clock hung on the wall, it read 9:35 am, which made him groan. 'Why does time move so fucking slow at school!?' He had tried to skip classes again, but since this time he managed to arrive in time, even though he walked really, and I mean reeealllyy slow. The teacher just dragged him in before he had time to flee, and now he's stuck listening to this boring lesson. 'Why did I enroll in this school anyway? I hate studying' Then he remembered why, his parents. They wanted him to become someone with a bright fut
After making dinner for Angela and eating together, Shane ended up cleaning the kitchen and quickly went up in his room, locking the door and throwing himself onto bed. He pulled out his phone and turned on the torch, pointing it upwards so it would light up the room a bit, just enough to see. He did this cuz his lazy ass was not feeling like standing up, walking back towards the door, reaching out and flipping the light switch on. 'Naaa, too much work' He reached inside his pocket and grabbed the sheet of paper Bianca had handed him this afternoon, it was fairly crumpled but luckily it didn't tear. He carefully opened it, not wanting to rip it by accident, and then focused the light of the torch on it so to see what did it say. 'Syke! You thought I would just give out my number to others that easily? No sir! If you want it you'll have to work in order to get it! >:)' "What the?" Shane mumbled confused. 'If you're up for the challenge, just turn the paper around, good luck
"So let me get this straight" Alex mumbled as they all walked together to school, accompanying Angela to her first. Apparently, throughout some unknown astral power, his friend found out about the interaction Shane had with Bianca, and therefore came to pester him the second they set foot out of their house, forcing him to spill everything "She gave you her number" "She didn't give me her number" Shane replied, already having had enough about the day, even though it had just started. "Then you called her and she pestered you about creepypastas" "She didn't" "And now she's your girlfriend!?" "Again, no" he groaned, burying his face in his hands, trying to figure out how Alex got wind to this in the first place. He thought he might have placed some sort of app or device on his phone or some shit like that. Shane made a mental note to check his phone thoroughly once home. "For the last time Alex, she's my girl friend, with a space in between between. Two separate words, get it?
As Shane sat through another seemingly never ending class, his attention getting caught by everything that could distract him from this boring lesson. Halfway through dozing off, he saw something land on the side of his school desk. A crumpled up piece of paper. He was a little startled at first but soon opened it and found a short message inside that made him smirk. 'Ya having fun ey? :P' he looked around, trying to figure out who sent the message. He didn't have to look for long, since he soon found a familiar pair of eyes staring at him. Shane snickered, ducking his head so to not be seen by the teacher as he wrote a reply on the back of the paper, throwing it back at Bianca when no one was looking. Luckily, the two of them were seated fairly close to each other, as well as in the second to last row, so it was harder for the teacher to spot them. The transaction went smoothly and she received his message, shaking her head in disapproval. They continued to exchange notes secretly
"Shane!" Angela called, slightly tugging his sleeve while they walked home from school. "Mh?" "Did something good happen at school today?" her question surprised "Why do you ask?" "You look happier than usual" he raised an eyebrow "Do I?" "You've been grinning like a creepy serial killer the whole way back while nodding rhythmically, I'm pretty sure a few people we encountered thought you were kidnapping me or that you escaped from an asylum" she said sarcastically. Shane looked around, noticing in fact a few people stare at him with a worried look on their faces, some even had their phone in hand, ready to call the police. "Oh fuck" he mumbled, pulling up his hood and hurrying his pace "Why didn't you tell me?!" he whisper yelled, feeling his face burn in embarrassment. "I tried to, you just kept humming at me like the idiot you are" she grumbled annoyed "It's not my fault if your head is always in the clouds, you should consider tying a rope to it so you can keep it down to g
"AAAAND OUT! FUCKING FINALLY" Alex wheezed, carelessly dropping the knocked out Sebastian on the fresh snow right outside of the cabin while he gently set down Angela. He placed his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. "Fuck! I hate exercise! I'm never doing anything athletic after this in my life!" he complained. "Alex" Bianca called, leaning heavily against a nearby tree, she tried to walk towards him but the second she let go of her sustain, she fell "W-where... where is Shane?" "Still inside, Imma get him right now, don't worry, just sit tight I'll be right back" but just as he tried to get back inside from the door he came out of, he found it locked "What the fuck?!" he tried to pull harder, but to no avail "Fuck it, I'll just use the ladder" he sprinted inside the cabin, trying the trapdoor, but finding that locked as well. "What the fuck is going on!? Why are they locked!?" he ran back outside, trying the door again. "W... what's happening?" Angela asked, terrif
"S-shane... is... is that really you?" she hesitantly reached out, brushing his blue fur, Oneiros remaining still "B-but how? How did y-" "Enough messing around! I'm your opponent beast!" the hunter took advantage of this moment to change magazine, basically putting to waste all Oneiros's hard work. The wolf turned his body around, pushing Bianca with his head, forcing her to stand up. "What are you doing?" he whined, looking up. She followed his gaze and saw the trapdoor at the end of the ladder, which had been left open, luckily for them. "You... want me to escape?" he nodded, flinching as another bullet hit in in the back "No! I won't I-" she started coughing "-won't leave you alone" Oneiros was starting to feel desperate, he knew he couldn't fight at his fullest if he had to worry about protecting Bianca, and if he couldn't fight, he couldn't win. 'What do I do now? How can I make her leave?' his eyes looked left and right, finding no solution. Surprisingly, a solution instea
Bianca couldn't remember what happened clearly. All she knew was that she had a knife pressed against her neck just a second ago, the superficial cut and blood dripping out of it was proof. When she started to feel the knife cut her skin, a loud howl echoed throughout the room, followed by the sound of glass shattering. She reflexively closed her eyes, covering her head as she got pushed and pulled around for several seconds before it all came to a stop. When she sheepishly opened one of her eyes to see what happened, much to her surprise, there was a large blue wolf protecting her from the two kidnappers. "W... wha..." she shakily sat up and looked around, her fever making her vision blurry and slightly dizzy, not really helping in the situation she was in "Am I hallucinating? Or did I die?" she mumbled to herself, pinching her arm to confirm that, at the very least, she wasn't dreaming. "Well, whether I died or not... this is definitely the weirdest thing I've ever seen... by far
"I... he... what are you talking about? How can I be that-! That thing! You're just delusional, that's what you are! You've edited this over a kid's death recording and now you're accusing me of it?! Are you insane or what!?" that's what he put into words, but in his head he was thinking something completely different.'What was that? Why does this scene look so familiar? And why did I feel guilt when I watched it? Could... could it be that... no, no there's no way that this thing was even remotely real, I mean, blue wolves? What are they gonna tell me next? That the earth is cubical?'The lumberjack was just staring at him with a curious look in his eyes, casually playing with the knife in his hand as he listened to Shane's pointless rant."See Lucas? He's a liar, he won't admit to it even when the truth is shoved right to his face, let's just kill him now and put an end to this" Sebastian growled angrily."In due time boy, first let's make him show his true colors now, shall we?" he
Shane couldn't believe his eyes, he couldn't mutter a single word or move a single muscle as that matter. All he could do was stare, mouth agape, at the large screens on the walls as he watched a large blue-furred wolf murder a kid. But that's not what had unsettled him the most. What unsettled him was that the kid looked a lot like his younger self, not only that, his voice was also identical. "W-wha... what is this?! This has to be a fake! Why are you showing me a footage that's clearly been edited!?" he shouted as Sebastian kept an impassible expression, almost like he was expecting a different reaction from him. "Oh really? Edited?" he chuckled "I wouldn't expect you out of all people to pull out such a flimsy excuse" he started pacing around Shane's glass cage "Or is it that perhaps you have no honor? Maybe you don't even regret doing it, do you?" he grinned "You never had the face of someone who regretted murder to be fair" Shane at this point was completely lost, he didn't
'What do I do now?! This is such a mess! Mother is gone and Father will be here in less then a week! Ugh why didn't I keep track of time!?' Oneiros was stressing out, pacing restlessly in front of his lair after the argument of the night before. 'Should I run away? But where to? It was always mother who pointed me towards a new location to live in, I can't leave without her! I'm the one who sent her away... but how the fuck do I get her back now?!' he stopped in his tracks 'The cubs... if I don't leave, I would be putting them in danger... but if I do leave... they might search for me and get lost... and if by some miracle they do end up finding me..." he shook his head, not wanting the thought to even cross his mind. 'I-i need to call mother back... but how... maybe howling again will work?' he looked up at the dark sky, only the stars being visible in the night as he let out a loud howl, using all the air in his lungs. But unfortunately for him, nothing happened. He tried several
"You sure this is the right direction? We've been *cough* walking aimlessly for an hour now" Bianca asked as she and Alex followed Shane into the woods, his uncertain and hesitant steps not really making the whole ordeal reassuring. "I'm sure! When I was hypnotized I saw a few signs with the name of this town, so the cabin must be somewhere around these woods" "First of, these woods are ginormous, it could take us literal days to find that place without a map. Second, didn't you say you only moved here recently? I know you lived close by for three years or so, since we often playe
"ALEX!! ALEX OPEN UP!!" Shane shouted as he banged his fists against his friend's house, soon receiving an answer as the door opened "BRO! THE FUCK!?" Alex shouted back, popping his head out the nearby window "QUIT IT! PEOPLE WILL THINK I HAVE AN ASYLUM ESCAPEE AS A FRIEND! GET YO ASS INSIDE!" Shade didn't need to be told twice and quickly got in, not waiting for his friend to ask what was going on and immediately cutting to the chase. "Alex, Angela has been kidnapped!" Alex whipped his head around "SHE HAS WHAT?!" "I need your help to get her back-"
"Ok class, today we are going to talk about the moon and all it's peculiarities, be ready to take notes because this will be on your final exam" a round of groan rose from the back row "Yeah yeah quit your whining and take out your books" the teacher turned around and started to draw on the blackboard "Now, If we'd to talk about the moon, I could go on for literal weeks, but for your sanity's sake, I'll just speak about a few peculiar events that happened over the years. For example, three years ago, the moon happened to go dark for an unsettling long period of time, longer than what it was supposed to do normally. The scientist thing this ma-" Shane wasn't listening to a word, he was too focused on reading and re-reading the email he received earlier that morning, still in shock.
