Chapter 8: More Danger

"There's no need for you to feel guilty at all. You didn't even know that the man was a vampire," I say that to comfort Liora. "You should be proud of yourself as you did manage to kill the vampire…"

"Proud? There's nothing to be proud of." Liora says as tears keep falling, "I am the causes of their death! I was the one that did that… I-I-I"

"Listen here, Liora. You aren't the one at fault here. The blame should be on me. I let my guard down even though I did notice that the man's magical aura was different." I say that Liora shouldn't pin all of the guilt on her alone. I was as responsible as she was in causing this death.

It's tough for me to convince Liora that she wasn't the one to blame in this matter. Even if she had known it earlier, there's nothing Liora could do. Liora was lucky as she had my magical energy to use and also she was able to cast the greater fireball.

If not, Liora would surely die by the vampire's hand and this whole village would be slaughtered. Thank god that there's only one vampire cause if they had more, it would be the end of this village.

I then realised that I was wrong. There might be more than one vampire that had to enter the village. The duke son and his bodyguards also had a different magical aura than the rest of the humans I encountered.

"Liora! There's no time to be mourning as I realised that this village might be in great danger. There are more of the vampires in this village..." I say that.

"What!?" Liora looks at me, confused, "Really, I thought the one that I killed was the only vampire that was in the village."

"Surely you remember about the duke son and his other bodyguards. They're the other vampire as they had a very identical magical aura from each other."

Hearing that, Liora immediately gets up as she then starts to run toward Madam Nia mansion.

"Madam… Please be safe." Liora prays.

As we were on the way to Madam Nia mansion, I realised that Liora should call for help. It was way too risky to fight against two vampires on her own. I know that Liora doesn't master the advanced spell at all, as it was a fluke for her to cast it that time.

Basically, if Liora did engage in combat with the two vampires, her chances to survive were very low. Besides that, I still remember that the duke son aura was much more potent than the other two. That means the duke son was a higher level vampire.

With that in mind, I really think Liora shouldn't go alone. "I think you should call for help from the other villagers," I said that to Liora.

"Even if I wanted to get the villagers to help, there's nothing they could do." Liora says, "The villagers here couldn't fight at all… if it wolves then I might do that but this is a vampire."

"So what makes you think that you also could fight?" I say that as clearly Liora also doesn't have the skill of fighting. "You also were just a villager! Have you already forgotten that, Liora?"

"I might be just a villager but I could cast a spell and I did manage to kill a vampire…" Liora replied.

"I know that but I doubt that you could do that again. It was just a stroke of pure luck that you're able to cast an advanced spell and kill the damn vampire!" I say to her.

"Luck? I show you that I could cast the advanced spell… just look." Liora then began to chant as she put her left hand on the front. There's nothing coming out as it seems that she does not master the spell-like I thought.

Liora keeps on trying along the way but she couldn't do it.

"See? You don't even master the greater fireball at all…" I say.

Liora then looked at me thoughtfully as she said, "Even if I don't have any spell master, I would still go to the mansion… There's no way I let the vampire kill Madam Nia and destroy this village."

I didn't reply as there's no way she would listen and I should have known it. It's just me or what that Liora character changed a lot since the vampire killed the lady and her baby. Because she somehow had become much more brave and reckless at the moment compared to what I saw before.

As we're approaching the mansion, we could see a massive fire in front as we both realised that it was coming from the mansion. Does it mean the vampires had started the attack?

Seeing the mansion was currently being consumed by a massive fire. Liora began to run much faster as she knows that the vampire has already started its attack on the mansion.

Liora said in a shallow tone, "I hope the people in the mansion are fine…"

I didn't say anything when I heard that. But there's no way that the people there would be fine, I know that place had some guards but I doubt they could stop the vampires unless one of the guards could cast a primary spell-like healing, fireball or light orb.

Still, I didn't think that would be enough to kill the vampires at all. It would just prolong the survivability for a few minutes as they will soon be greeted with death. They will survive if help arrives.

As Liora runs, she suddenly stumbles to the ground. I look at the ground but there's nothing on the path at all. Why did Liora suddenly fall to the ground?

I then looked at Liora as I saw she was in agony right now. I don't know what had happened but there's no way she would be in pain simply because of a fall. It doesn't make any sense at all.

"Liora! What's wrong?" I ask as I am anxious about her at the moment.

"I don't know… it's like I feel my strength is slipping away each second." Liora was having a hard time to say that. She keeps on saying. "I-I-I can't breathe…"

What happens to her? Did the vampire attack hit Liora before or the vampire had laid a spell before he was dead? I do not have any idea what's been going on right now.

"Ring…"

"Ring... what's happening to me?" Liora said that as I could barely hear what's, she was saying to me at all.

I didn't reply as I didn't know the answer to that question. The best thing that I could do was telling Liora that she was going to be okay.

"Am I really going…" Before Liora could say anything else, she suddenly stopped, make me panic.

"Hey!"

"Hey! Liora… Do you hear me? Are you still there… say anything, please!" I say that but Liora wasn't replying to everything I just said to her.

Why isn't she replying to what I said? Does Liora die? I really couldn't believe it if it was true but I do not think so. I quickly checked her magical aura as it was the only for me to identify whether she was still alive or not.

!

I sense her magical aura, but it is almost hard to detect it as it needed my full concentration to feel it. I know that Liora magical aura was faint but not this much. What really happens here? Doesn't she have a ridiculous amount of magical energy and has been radiating magical energy ever since the transfer I made.

I then realised something. I now know what really happened to Liora. This was the effect of the transfer spell. Liora's body couldn't handle the vast amount of magical energy. Her body had a small capacity for storing magical energy and with that enormous amount of energy she received.

The capacity has been destroyed and all of the magical energy leaks out from her body ever since. She doesn't suffer this earlier because Liora was casting a spell on every second.

All of the magical energy goes to the spell. This might be some reason as well because she does cast an advanced spell. It does affect Liora's body as she couldn't handle it. With that, it worsens Liora condition as all of the effects mix together.

I'm relieved as Liora isn't dead yet. She was merely unconscious. But still, Liora's life could be threatened. The risk of her magical capacity being broken was dangerous for her life. To make her alive, I need to supply her with my own magical energy until the damage has been fixed by itself.

I will not make the same mistake as before. This time I would adjust the output before transferring the magical energy so Liora life wouldn't be at risk again.

Still, this isn't a place for Liora to be. I am afraid that the vampire would walk past this area and notice Liora. They would definitely kill Liora. All I could do was to hope that the vampire was to dumb to realise whether Liora was still alive or not.

I could just hope at the moment...

It's been a few weeks already and it seems like Liora has grasped a few basic fundamentals of casting a spell. She's still not able to cast anything too complicated, but she can at least use the simple spells that are common in most schools of magic—like healing or fireballs. While training her, I do notice that her healing and fire affinity seems to be much stronger than my own. It doesn't seem as if she is using any specific rituals for these abilities though; just standard magical practice should suffice? That might explain why she was so much more powerful the first she casted the fireballs spell at that vampire. And I have no doubt there will come a day when we'll be fighting for our lives, she will be able to protect herself and others around her. So far though, all this practice was also helping me get used to how different it feels from using magic as a Ring; even if you know what you're doing, your body doesn't always react accordingly because it's accustomed to something e
