“Here comes our Crown king! Everyone! Girls, go down on your knees, Boys, lay flat on the ground. Respect must be shown when greeting the King, no form of slight will be tolerated, Am I clear?!”

“Kaabiyesi o!! Ha ha ha…”

“I wonder if the palace has new vacancies for handmaidens with special services.”

“I’d be happy to sign up!”

“Me too!”

“Me three!”

Everyone teasingly called out and then bursted into laughter after following along with the initial voice that called out the words telling them to greet.

Kyng walked into the class and shook his head lightly with a wry smile on his face as he heard the greetings called out to none other than him, a fellow student, not some supposed King.

As introverted as he tended to be at times, he was always unable to keep to himself for long whenever he got to class anytime. These classmates of his always found one way or another to bring him out of his personal bubble, his imaginary space. Thinking back to the last term, he could still remember how a few of his genius classmates managed to hack into his system and set it up so when they were all in practical class using their systems and he was presenting at the front of the class, he found his project presentation being forcefully paused and his system instead began to play an adult homevideo which he could swear was never supposed to be on his system in the first place.

No matter what he tried to do to stop it, they all ended up failing to stop the video from playing. It was only until he requested for the power to the projector to be cut off and he closed his system that he was able to stop the video from playing, but even at that point, the video had already played for close to five minutes.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the lab technician was a rather chill dude not much older than them, he wouldn’t be able to imagine the trouble he would have gotten into otherwise. The guy had even joined in the laughter at that point and simply asked him to send a summary of his presentation later in the day to his email.

It was since that day that all the girls he knew had begun to tease him, asking him if his ‘Palace’ needed ‘Young maidens with special services’ in his ‘Bedchambers’. Hearing those words now, it seems they still hadn’t forgotten about it one bit. He had been hoping they all did though.

He raised his head and saw the main culprit of the last term’s incident coming his way with that smile that Kyng always wanted nothing more than to wipe off his face. He wanted to do so even more now since he could clearly tell that the initial voice that had called out at first was this rascal’s, a thought popped into his mind though and he realized he didn’t need to make a move anymore at this point. The corner of his lips raised into a slight smile as he could clearly envision this smiling face turning into a pleading one in a while from now.

Donald couldn’t help shivering reflexively on witnessing that slight smile on his dear friend’s face, a friend that didn’t know when to stop when committing mischief or taking revenge on someone. Different thoughts immediately ran through his mind as he began considering and plotting different methods of escaping what was most definitely going to come for him, he didn’t even bother considering if it was something he could defend against, running away was the only option in this case.

He hurried his steps as he began to execute his well thought out plan, pleading for mercy and probably lessening the penalty.

“Hey, hey, how’s my dearest friend doing, I don miss you o bro” (Meaning I’ve missed you a lot bro)

Kyng, knowing what was running through this rascal’s mind simply stared at him silently for a while before replying,

“We saw each other just two days ago last week…”

“Can’t I miss you so much having been separated for two days?” Donald replying, faking a saddened expression as he stared back solemnly.

Kyng couldn’t help the corner of his lips twitching on hearing the words of this rascal of a friend, why did this sound so weird to the ears, a third person listening in on this conversation would probably be getting ambiguous vibes from what he just said.

“It’s not gonna work, so don’t bother…” he said with the smile still on his face, after which he resumed walking to his seat amidst the noisy atmosphere in the class.

*sigh* A sigh came out from him involuntarily at that point. Knowing he had failed to do anything much, he decided to leave the rest all to fate. He caught up to Kyng as they moved side by side to their seats. They sat together so they moved in the same direction. The first day of school was always one with a rather lax atmosphere, so the teachers for the subjects of the day would intentionally give some them some time to settle in before coming in to the class, some teachers wouldn’t even bother coming to class on the first day but they were sure this particular person was going to step through the door to their class soon, he was their class adviser after all.

They reached their seats, which a long chair divided into sixfor the same number of students on each chair. Their last seat partner paid no mind to their arrival at the seat though, even with the two of them right beside him, he was entirely focused on the screen right in front of him.

“Dude, why so engrossed? You got yourself an online girlfriend or something?” Donald said teasingly as he eased himself onto the right side of the guy sitting in the middle, nudging him as he did as he tried getting his attention.

“Hm? Oh hey guys, sorry don’t mind me…” the guy said, looking away from the screen, to recognize the faces beside him, for barely a second before turning back to face the screen in front of him almost immediately.

“We’re definitely going to mind if you don’t at least tell us what has you so hooked on your laptop screen.” Kyng said as he also eased his butt onto the chair, seating on the left side of the guy in the middle as heh kept on leg outside on the space between the desk and the wall beside him and the other leg inside within the boundaries of the desk legs.

“Alright, alright, gimme a few seconds at least…” the guy hurriedly said as he kept his eyes on the screen and his fingers moving on his keyboard. A minute passed before his voice was heard again, “…A~and done!” his finger swirled around on the touchpad for a while tapping here and there, a final tap and he body moved to recline on the chair, showing his body relaxing after getting wound up for a while.

“Care to share what’s going on, you couldn’t have truly found your soulmate, could you?” Donald asked with a raised eyebrow.

“What soulmate rubbish are you talking about, what you see here is the beginning of the next era bro…” the guy was finally able to hear what Donald was saying.

“What?” Donald asked feigning confusion. Kyng smiled to himself, it was clear what the Dayo was doing, he could tell Donald was just feigning confusion to cause frustration.

“I spent over six months on this masterpiece bro, the fulfillment and excitement I feel is more than you can dampen you a***ole” But apparently, it seemed like Dayo was also aware of Donald’s intention as he immediately shot him down.

“I thought you had a major issue with the codes and all last you told us?” Kyng asked, feeling curious. He could remember how this poor guy had almost broken down at that point when they got called to his house by his mom. Him being able to finish the project showed his commendable persistence and how important it meant to him.

“Well I did have a major issue back then, but like I just said, it was back then. I managed to pull myself together and get on with it. Trust me bro, those were trying times. But I figured out a little trick that managed to allow me to speed up the correction process, cutting down the time and even allowing me to spot some other errors I didn’t know even existed.

And now after over six months despite some little mishaps trying to hold me down along the way, I finally managed to finish building the legacy app, ‘Final year chronicles’. In the end, before we leave, we’d be setting the foundations in the app, our gift to the school and those coming after us…”
