POV; the talisman.
Fatima survey the school ground. It was more like a fortress, evidently the kedrans didn't care about art, she didn't see any since she arrived. They were cold logical creatures, and it reflected in their architecture. "She expected the advisor to give her a tour of the school but he had been immersed in a holographic call. The kedrans were shattered evenly across the grounds, though Fatima didn't see any students. "They weren't much different from humans except for their blazing white hair, uniform, hazel eyes and tall proportions. They were an advanced race though and had a perfected space travel before humans and found fire. They had conquered much of the milky way but found close kin in humans, after wiping out 70% of the population, they made the rest subservient. Fatima was glad that Mama did not live long to see the abomination, she was one of the lucky once that died from natural causes. Her brother, Hassan was wiped out along with others, she had not even seen his body. The pain she felt from his death had made her passed out only to find herself hospitalized when she awake. The doctor had told her that her right leg was now damaged and had to be operated on. Weirdly she saw a kedran official around her bedside talking in a harsh with the doctor. She had recovered quickly though her walking gait had changed slightly and the pain grew worse when she walked long distances. For reasons not known to her, some kedran soldiers their house and told her father that they have been assigned to their home planet to serve the federation better. Now, many leagues from home, she felt alienated from her family and friends. Papa was all she had now but he had been acting strangely lately, his insistence for her to address him in the kedrans way was funny. They had other humans who had the translator chip inserted in them during the medicals when they arrived newly. This made communication easier as the chip helped their brain in translating the kedrish language. “Good luck with your studies, unfortunately I won't be able to join you, I'm needed at the royal court urgently so try not cause any trouble. The royal advisor hurriedly said, patting her on black while glancing at the projected hologram suspended in the air. ‘so you're just going to dump me here?” Remember you're the reason I'm here in the first place, she said. "Papa would have slapped okra seeds from her mouth as he used to threaten if he saw her taking to a kedran like this but she was past caring. “Tell me, little girl, how old are you?. His question threw her off-balance but she regain her composure. ‘sixteen, why? ‘you’re still young, so listen, keep your tongue in check, there are some here that will kill you if you look at them the way you're looking at me now, I've faith in you, that's why i brought you here. "He said as he looked at her with a fatherly gaze. “But I'm not special, I wasn't even good at school, she said, now convince that he was wasting his time. “Nonsense, you're more than average, you just don't have the zeal. Besides it's not that kind of school. “What kind is it then? She asked now interested. You will see in the meantime, work hard to earn you spot here, you can be expelled at anytime, I have something for you, he said, reaching into his robes. “I believe this is yours; he said as he held out a brown talisman to her. It was hers; Mama had given it to her just before she died. "She had lost it when she passed out after Hassan death and thought it was gone forever. She opened her mouth to thank him, but he brushed it off. “Go to the left wing of the building, on the second floor, that will be first floor in your silly human vocabulary, we kedrans starts counting from the ground floor. "you'll see a door with a serpent doorhandle that leads to a reception hall, you'll see other students there, that will be all then. He strode around the ground surprisedly quickly for a man his age and teleported with a swish of his cloak. A privilege reserved for the elite of the federation. She watched him go, uncertain if she could trust him, there were many unknown factors, she will have to be on her guard here. She claimed the stairs in search of her class. The classes were all arranged to resemble an ellipse, there were other ingenious engineering design that could keep a human engineer enthralled for centuries but she wasn't in a tourist mood.POV; Assassin's The oak door opened with a loud creak, Fatima couldn't see who opened it as the inside was pitch black, she groped her way in the dark and felt the walls. She let it guard her as she moved slowly forward. The dark reception led into one of the largest halls she had seen in her life. Countless students of different species lined up in a neat rows that streched all the way back to the entrance, gleaming chandeliers hung from the high ceiling. "There was a large marble table in the center of the hall where two men and a woman sat. The woman and one of the men where kedrish; the man had an air of authority, he wore his white hair in a tight bun a had a sling over his eye, he wore a red and white attire which were the colors of the federation. His crooked face and his broken nose completed the picture of an experience soldier. "The woman beside him was younger than he was, though her stern face made her look older. She was dressed similarly to the man in federat
POV; first exams. Loud alarms blared in the environment of the kedran training school rousing its occupants. Fatima looked at the blinking time dial above the bed, it was 7: am. "She had fallen asleep the previous night soon after the speech. She dimly remembered skipping dinner and asked a guard for directions to the female quarters. She studied her new room with interests, it was small and sparsely furniture, a table and a chair sat in the right corner. The bed she was sitting on occupied a lot of space in the room and creaked on the slightest movement. Evidently comfort was a priority to the kedrans. She had not brought anything of hers to the school as they had been confiscated upon her arrival to kedran by the space officials. "She had waken up to see a grey spandex like over all folded nearly on her bed. She heard movement outside her door, she stood up and went closer to the door to listen. She heard girls chatting among themselves. They were all going to the ba

Founded in the sixteen century, it was formerly the capital of the Hausa state of Zazzau where the legendary ruler, Queen Amina Governor. The town and state were named after sister and successor, Queen Zaria. The great city was now a ghost town after the “Great invasion” as it was called by the media. A large part of the inhabitants had been massacred by the aliens. The section process was drawn up by a large database were different factors like intelligence, adaptation and age were being analyzed. "The bottom scorers were then eliminated by the aliens.Nineteen years old Hassan Danjuma roamed the city alone with his friends trading on black market. " Papa had warned him to stay indoors and they had had a row in the morning before he left the house. Fatima had plead with him silently with her eyes to stop arguing just before Papa slapped him. He had
Pov. Results Present day. Kadran; The usual morning alarm sounds rang loudly in the female dormitory and the familiar voice of Master Yedder blasted through an overhead speaker. “Attention trainees, the results from yesterday morning are out, go to the notice board to check if you've passed. If you haven't, leave the premises with your belongings. You have 5 mins to do so. There was a mad scramble in the dormitory as doors were flung open and people ran to the main hall. Fatima hurried along with the crowd and searched for kat. She couldn't find her, so she reached the main hall with the other trainees alone. A large group of trainees gathered around the notice board, some walked away smiling while a few had dejected faces and were being consoled by their friends. She finally spotted Kat in front of the notice board with the gang, she pushed an elbowed her way to get to her. "The other girls formed a circle around kat and were talking among themselves. When they saw Fa
POV. Hassan. Hassan surveyed his room in distaste. He hated the whitewashed wall and spartan setting. "It made him feel like he was in a psychiatrist hospital. Most of all, he hated the kadrans and the institute. He had been sent to the archaeology department to work for a week when he first arrived. He helped group ancient fossils according to their era and research on different cultures for the department. Evidently, the kadrans were interested in knowing their different colonies and they did so with meticulous thoroughness. He had not seen Advisor Thadron again since he was sent to the institute, he was scared for Fatima, he didn't want her in the crazy institute. They were trying to make killers out of them. "something Fatima clearly could not be. He has been monitoring the notice board and had finally seen her name in the Earth section the day before yesterday. He had released all his pent up rang on a kadran boy in Master Yedder's training class this morning an
POV. The plot He looked in disbelief at his father and hugged him. "They had not been closed ever since he became a teenager and grew independent from the family. "But in the unfamiliar surroundings of kedran, he felt a close familiarity with him. The past days had been crazy and he was gald to find a connection to his past. He looked up to see his father's stunned face. Feeling awkward, he disengage his hands around him and began questioning him. How are you here? There were supposed to send only Fatima, he asked. “I thought you were dead, Fatima had be depressed and angry at me due to the argument we had when we last saw you. "It was yesterday I heard from a informer that a certain Hassan was here from Earth, his father said with emotions in his voice. “Informer? Hassan asked. His father raised his fingers to his lips then cocked his ears to the side, obviously listening for movement outside. "Hassan was surprised seen him dressed as a guard. Echoing footsteps
POV. Assault. Fatima was bored in philosophy and history class. Mistress Kisha droned on about different complex philosophy theories, none of which made any sense to her. Philosophy had been hard enough back on Earth. The one quality philosophers shared everywhere, she noted, was their inability to agree with each other. "Each one brought up a theory contrary to his colleagues own and debated on it, they even argued on the definition of philosophy itself. He wasn't much better. It was all gruesome tales of past wars where the kedrans always won. "Everyone apart from the kedrans found them offensive judging from grumblings and angry faces of trainees. "Obviously mistress Kisha relished the event because she spoke in a dreamy voice with pride in her eyes. The kedrans girls occasionally looked back at the other races throwing stickers at them. She looked at the clock wall, 4:35pm. Not being able to stand the class again, she excused herself to the toilet. She had to walk past the
POV. The messager. Fatima felt happy, worried and apprehensive in turns. It was the day of the escape. The day seemed to be moving at a snail pace, she noted, looking at the antique clock in the class, 8:pm seemed far off. "She couldn't even concentrate on her favorite subject; Navigation and calculation. She feared the plan would fail. She had faced disappointment often enough to be optimistic. What if Papa didn't come on time? Or Hassan couldn't make it out of the dormitory. Then there was the rebel group, she didn't know if they could be trusted, what if one of them talked. There were just too many unknown and little time to figure them all out. She looked at the other trainees who were listening to master krim with rapt attention. They seemed resigned to their new life. Some of them were now contesting for the top three assassin's spots. "All she wanted to do was to go home but looking around at the mixed class with different races, it seemed like a far-fetched dream. S
