After Stan Gibson left the surrounding area of the academy, the aliens soon began to retreat from the area; it appeared they could no longer track the reason for their early attack on the academy. The department in charge of fighting in the academy, still were not able to kill a single alien due to the weapon which they used so when the aliens began to leave they knew they had a mission on the academy, and probably that mission had been achieved so they had to leave.

After the departure of the aliens completely, the survivors of the attack waited a few minutes before letting to be sure none of the aliens was left before coming to see the multitude that had died as a result of the attack.
