CHAPTER FOUR.

Magnus was stunned for a moment, he was dumbfounded. What the hell just happened?

“What level of magic are you on?” He asked again but Aeon kept mum which angered the Magnus again. He took two steps towards him and peered into his eyes but what shocked him the most was that he didn’t find any kind of energy in his eyes. Someone with magical abilities could not hide his powers no matter what, this was different.

Aeon scoffed, he could see the confused look on his face and this gladdened his heart.

“You didn’t find anything huh?”

Magnus was quiet for a while before beckoning on the army general.

“My lord” he bowed.

“Bring the enchantress to the palace now”

“Yes lord”

The general went to work while Magnus turned his attention to Aeon again.

“You can’t hide for long, you know that right?”

“Let Ayita go,” Aeon blurted.

Magnus smirked, then he turned to his soilder,

“Lock him up, I will figure out what to do with him later” after talking, Magnus strode out of the room angrily while the guards went ahead to untie Aeon who had a sleazy smile on his face the whole time. This was just the tip of the iceberg for Magnus Bane.

*****

A series of enchantments were sprewing out of her mouth and she had her eyes closed when Magnus sauntered into the room. He had a worrisome look on his face and the moment she noticed him, her eyes opened and she peered at him.

“What troubles the great god of Persia?”

“Who is that boy?” Magnus asked while lowering himself on his huge throne, “where is he from and why can I not find any iota of magic from him? What is he?” The enchantress smiled before turning her attention to the Magnus.

“Speak Azadeh” Magnus cajoled.

“Let the young man go” was the only thing she said and the man’s eyes darkened.

“He is not one of us and will never be one, let him go and have your peace”

“Who’s side are you on, Azadeh?” Magnus retorted while standing up from his throne, “you have so much immense power because I allow you to use the energy from the core so you should be serving me and not going against me” all the veins on his neck were starting to pop out.

Azadeh fell on her knees, “if there Is any day I have used your magic for my personal gain then let the gods take my life, my god” she paused for a while, “along with the gift of the magic core, I also have the ability to see into the future and that is why I have found favor In your sight. I will never lie to you and make you go astray, lord Magnus. That boy has nothing to offer and you will just be wasting your time if you keep focusing on him, he is just a mere boy”

Magnus sighed, of course he trusted the enchantress. For all the years he has ruled the Persian empire, she was one by his side and always looked into his future for him.

Magnus walked over to her and cupped her neck while peering deep into her eyes.

A litle smile was lingering on her face but fear was evident in her eyes.

“You know you are supposed to be on my side right?”

“Like I said Magnus, take my life if I decide to betray you”

“Very well then” Magnus let go of her and made his way back to his throne, “rather than letting him go, what other options do I have?”

“You can choose to keep him close? Moreover he is not one from among us, he could be of help one of these days”

“Hmmmm” the big guy nodded, “I see”

“I will take my leave now, my god”

“Not so fast, Azedah. You must meet this young lad”

After talking he gestured to his guard and he went ahead, a few minutes later he came back with Aeon who had blood dripping from his wound.

For a moment he was drawn to the lady but not in an intimate way. He could feel fear emanating from her and her heart was beating fast while she stood close to Magnus.

Azedah was a woman whom the gods have blessed with the ability to see into the future and being one of the fairest woman in the land, Magnus chose her to be his enchantress without any option to decline.

Even Azedah was lost in the eyes of the miscrant for a while. She could feel the energy surrounding him, she could feel the aura emanating from him. It was not ordinary but she could not feel any magic from him. It was like something was purposely blocking her from knowing who he really was.

“I sense fear from you” Aeon said to her and for a moment she was taken aback.

His words made Magnus to turn to her with an expressionless look on his face.

“Why can’t I read the energy around you?” Azedah asked back while gripping onto her golden staff tightly,

“What are you?”

“If an enchantress can not read me, then should I doubt your powers?”

“Silence!!!!!” Magnus bellowed, “ the nerve of you” he then turned his focus on Azedah, “what do you read from him?”

“Mysteries which I can not pinpoint, I will have to look more into him but he has an energy surrounding him at the moment, I can not do that”

The Magnus was quiet for a while, he didn’t want to let him go but maybe he had to. The enchantress didn’t have any reason to lie to him.

“Where is the lady?” Before he could get the entire words out of his mouth, Ayita was led into the room and Aeon sighed when he didn’t see a single wound or injury on her body.

“My god” Ayita fell on her knees, “I am sorry to have hidden my powers all these years, please I request one last time and I will owe you my life”

“You should have thought of that before you decided to hide away” Zander bellowed and she flinched in fear while looking at Aeon, silently she was begging him to help her.

“Level two magic?” Azedah muttered under her breath, “how come you still have it in your body?”

“She hid so well from the enchantress after all these years” Zander butt In again.

“I will make her into one of my harem” Magnus announced and Ayita felt like her whole world was about to crumble.

Becoming one among his harem was practically having her life over, she would lose the liberty to live her life the way she wanted and Magnus was going to make her life miserable. She has heard stories of how he killed anyone in his harem who went against his orders but it seem like she was going to be one among them soon.

Ayita didn’t know if she should cry or laugh, she wanted to blame Aeon for everything. If he didn’t show up in the market, her life would still be peaceful and she would not be kneeling in front of Magnus at the moment.

“I will prepare for the rituals” Azedah announced and made to move but Aeon stopped her.

“I want to put a price on her” his eyes were on Ayita the whole time and his statement made Azedah wonder what he was getting up to.

“Give me a task, if I can complete it then she won’t have to become a member of your harem”

“And what gives you the right to ask for favors from me?” Magnus asked through gritted teeth.

“You can get rid of me in the process” Aeon announced, “I am more like a threat to you at the moment”

Truly he was and it was making Magnus mad.

“I will fight your best men and if I win, she goes”

The fact that Magnus couldn’t do anything at the moment or even kill him was making him mad.

“Don’t you dare argue with your god” Zander blurted and rushed towards him but he was stopped midway by Magnus bane.

“Seven of my best men and the lady goes”

“As you wish” Aeon answered, a smile tugging at the edge of his lips.

After everyone walked out of the room, he was left with only Ayita but when he thought she was going to praise him for his actions, instead a deadly glare from her greeted him.

“Why do you look so angry?”

“Do you think everything is a joke?” Ayita blurted,

“seven of his best men, really?” She scoffed while throwing her hands up in frustration, “do you know how dangerous his men are?”

Aeon was speechless for a while, wasn’t she supposed to be thanking him for saving her? Didn’t she notice that?

“I saved you, Ayita”

“And invited more trouble for me Aeon” she bellowed, “what if you lose? Do you even know the kind of things he will make you do? You don’t go around threatening Magnus like that”

“What if I win?”

“You are bound to lose” she sounded so confident that Aeon couldn’t help but scoff, shs was really looking down on him. Not like he had any powers of her own but he wanted to prove to her that his guts have not been lying to him about everything.

“Don’t worry Ayita, I won’t let you become a member of his harem”

She sighed for what seemed like the umpteenth time without saying anything, turned on her heel and walked away.

Aeon sighed, women were the same everywhere. Always overly dramatic.

“Well” he shrugged and found his way out of the room, he had a fight to prepare for.

****

The sounds of heavy drums and trumpet sound made all the people to leave their homes and make their way to the palac. This was how Magnus called them, he made his soilders sound the drums and they would come running.

In the middle of the crowd was a huge space and a certain someone was standing in the middle of the crowd.

From where she was sitting, Ayita was apprehensive. If he failed to win the fight then it was going to be a huge loss for the both of them.

“How did he get there?” Her mother asked her, “did he cause trouble again?”

Ayita sighed, “Magnus wanted to make me a part of his harem and he decided to help me”

Her mother kept mum and didn’t say anything again but she was praying to the god of Persia, Aeon should win the fight.

“All bow to your god” a loud voice resonated in the ears of the people and they all went on their knees as Magnus came into the arena.

“You may rise” he ordered, “this is a fight to the death” this was his single statement but it held volume. No one was allowed outside the ring until the fight was over.

Aeon was the only one In the ring at the point, he was also anticipating to see who his competitors were.

A huge iron door behind him opened and when he saw the first man step out of the cage, his eyes opened wide.

The Seven of them looked so mighty and they were all on chains, typical way of restraining human savage beasts.

The moment Ayita saw them, a kind of fear gripped her. Magnus never released these beasts unless he wanted to maim or kill a person. These were people who didn’t have any control on themselves and fought till they killed their opponents.

“Let the fight begin” the general announced again and the chains came falling off their hands and feet.

Aeon stood in the middle watching their every move, he was trying to study and be like them.

“So help me” he muttered under his breath as one of them launched at him in attack.

He was a ferocious one and Aeon truly had a hard time tackling him. All of them lauhched at him in attack, it was a bloody fight.

At intervals, Ayita kept jumping off from her seat. Her heart was almost jumping into her mouth.

The fight was getting heated by the moment and it felt like Aoen was losing and the amount of blood he lost was too much.

A smirk was hovering over Magnus’s face as he saw the state Aeon was in, he looked like he was not going to last.

Aeon, who was on the ground, felt like he was about to give up,but he began to feel that surge of energy through his hand again. This time it was more intense than expected which was also getting hard for him to

control.

“In the name of god Magnus” one of the savage beasts yelled and ran towards Aeon who was still on the ground. His feet were making a terrifying sound on the ground and the whole arena was shaking. The remaining six savage beasts were also hot on his heel but something happened.

Aeon who looked lifeless on the floor suddenly jumped up with a kind of energy which made all of them panic, including the seven beasts, they all froze in action.
