As he got to the door, he opened it with a soft click and the guards were eagerly waiting for him to say something.Ansel thought of something to say."She...he is currently sleeping peacefully. Please do not go into the room or else the drugs wouldn't take its effect on his body. The guards nodded their heads in unison, not suspecting that something was off.Ansel was deeply pleased. He added. "I will come back to check up on him later."They nodded again and it was time to leave. It was the first time Ansel was allowed out of the room and so he became confused. There was the option to go right and there was also the option to go left.He couldn't ask the guards as they would suspect. The system wasn't answering him either. At this point, he was on his own.He went ahead to the left but then a voice called out."Doctor Elara, you can't go in there. ANSEL LUTHER'S RISE TO POWER The search
Without knowing how many minutes had passed, Ansel slowly got up from the chair with a yawn. He had initially thought several patients would swim in to get medical attention right after the man left But in the last few minutes, he hadn't gotten any patient walk in like they do in the medical office back in the Castillo group. Ansel went ahead to check the drawers in her office. For a second, he paused to check his reflection. Fortunately, he was still looking like Dr Elara. The body and soul swap had indeed worked and it would last for two days. The drawers required a passcode to open and Ansel tried checking if he could use his fingerprint. However, it required a code and without one of the codes,he could not get access to it. This particular drawer had gotten his attention because it was labeled IMPORTANT. He gazed around him and scanned the room for any probability of seeing a clue. To his dismay, the medical facility was as boring as its smell. Her handbag
ANSEL LUTHER'S RISE TO POWER An urgent meeting
★★★On the balcony.Just as Master Luca raised his hand to knock, a guard hurried over with a tense expression on his face. "Master Luca, the king requests your immediate presence in the meeting room."Luca hesitated, his mind racing with possibilities. What could Atris want now? After a brief moment, he nodded curtly. "Very well."The guard gestured for Luca to follow, and two additional guards fell in to step beside him, escorting him to the meeting room.As they entered, the room fell silent as Luca's presence commanded attention. The elders seated around the table sensed his formidable aura and turned to face him to confirm their suspicion. It was indeed Luca.Their eyes widened, and they bowed their heads in unison, afraid to look him straight in the eyes and offend the most powerful person they had ever met."Brother Luca," King Atris acknowledged in a respectful tone as he gazed up to see Luca standing in front of the guards. He gestured for Luca to take a seat.Luca's piercing
ANSEL LUTHER'S RISE TO POWER Eternal slumber
"You want us to vote?" This time around, he directed his question to King Atris.Atris reluctantly nodded his head.As much as he saw Luca as his big brother, he also felt some of his actions were disrespectful to him and the elders. He had always been a rebel and King Atris knew Lucas cared less about what they thought because of his powerful status."All those in favor of humans should raise their hands up."The room became quiet and no one did, except Luca who confidently raised his hand up.He was not surprised to see that he was the only one in favor of the humans.Instead, he dropped his hand moments later and began tapping on the table lightly.King Atris didn't see the need to say any more words, it was clear that no one was in favor of humans except Luca. But what Luca said next surprised them."The peace treaty has been signed. Humans are no fools. There will be war, and it will be soon. The least we can do is make them feel like a living thing while they are here. If no one

yay or nay
Ansel drove to the warehouse.Since Claire’s encounter with Thora in her office, she had not been in a good mood. He had tried calling her but he decided against it. It was obvious that she needed some alone time. That was one of the reasons he didn’t press too much when she said she needed space. He had planned to head to Samantha’s place later. She was his personal assistant and she helped him handle a lot of work. He needed her to organize the data he had collected from his previous visits to the medical research division and he also needed to see his little sister.Still, that was for later. His mind was occupied now.Ansel drove straight to the warehouse. Since Kael had been caught and arrested for the illegal activities he ran from the same warehouse, Ansel had doubled the security. He wasn’t going to take chances. The police had cleared the area as safe, but Ansel wanted full control over the property moving forward. This time, he wasn’t there to inspect security footage or
Kneeling like a beggar
Grandfather Luther’s face went cold.Seeing that, Ansel’s father felt his mouth turn dry.For a second, he struggled for air. His chest rose and fell faster than usual. The garage suddenly felt tighter and hotter.Grandfather’s gaze pierced through him like it always had when he was newly married to his deceased wife. That stare was dangerous. He had seen that look before. Back then, it meant trouble. Ansel’s father cursed himself in his mind.Grandfather Luther was too smart. He had outsmarted him in the past. And now?Now he stood here once again. Only this time, there was no escape. Never in his life would he have thought that Grandfather Luther was a rich wealthy old man. Not once. He used to think the old man was a burden. A relic from the past with no value. He had disregarded him like a fly buzzing around his head. And not just disregarded. He had laughed at him. Mocked him openly and behind his back. Made fun of his clothes and his old shoes. Now here he was. Kneeling on t
"Have you forgotten the past so soon?"
"Father-in-law Luther," the older man’s voice cracked. He stood a few feet away with his shoulders slouched, looking smaller than anyone had ever seen him. "I wish... I wish I could bring her back, I really do. But I can’t. I know that now. It's all my fault and i apologize for my past mistakes." His eyes darted from grandfather Luther to Ansel. "Please, just let me prove I’m sorry. I want to be part of this family again. We need to live together as one. I want to be with my children again."The memories came flooding back for him. He remembered the day he had pushed his family out, standing there with his new wife and acting like he had won. He had believed he had everything under control, that with Ansel’s mother’s wealth, he could live a life of luxury. It was only now that he realized how much he had truly lost.If he had been patient enough, he would have gotten to find out that grandfather was a rich man. Even the car behind grandfather cost almost a hundred million dollars.M
Sobs
Ansel stepped out of the courthouse, the cool breeze of early morning ruffling his hair. The property that rightfully belonged to his mother was finally his again. He could still hear the judge’s voice echoing in his head in a calm but authoritative tone, “The court rules in favor of Ansel Luther, granting him full ownership of the property.”His lawyer had done exactly what Ansel had hired him for. No surprises there. With a lawyer of his caliber, victories like this were highly expected. But the image that stuck with Ansel the most was his stepmother’s face as the verdict was announced. She had fought hard to keep what didn’t belong to her, using every underhanded trick in the book, but now it was over.Another thing that was satisfying, though, was watching his father and stepmother's faces as reality hit them.As Ansel approached the garage, a sly grin tugged at the corner of his lips. He could still see the look of shock and outrage on his father’s face, too. His father's su
Courtroom
The morning sun passed through the tall windows of the courthouse, casting long shadows across the polished floor.Ansel stepped through the door, his polished shoes clicking softly as he walked down the aisle toward the front of the courtroom. He had chosen his outfit carefully, a tailored suit, crisp white shirt, and a dark tie that made him look every bit the man he had grown to become. As soon as he entered, heads turned, including those of his father and stepmother, who were seated across the room. His stepmother's brows furrowed when she saw him, her lips pursing in disapproval. Ansel didn’t acknowledge them. Instead, he walked toward the plaintiff’s seat with a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. The kind of smirk that said he had been waiting for this moment. His father, seated a few rows behind the defense table, leaned over to whisper something to his wife. He noticed how his stepmother hissed under her breath, clearly displeased.‘They think I spent my last
Kool Kat Klub
In front of the bar, two bulky bodyguards stood with arms crossed, their eyes scanning the crowd for any sign of trouble. The KKK(Kool kat Klub) Bar had a reputation, and they were there to make sure the wrong kind of people didn’t get in without paying for access.Ansel walked up to the door, handed one of the guards a few bills, and received a curt nod in return. They stepped aside, letting him through without a word. He pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside. The place was exactly as it was rumoured to be. The lights were dim, casting a reddish glow over the room.Music pumped through the speakers, loud enough to make his chest vibrate. Girls in skimpy outfits danced on platforms, their movements drawing the attention of the men partying below with drinks in hand and their laughter filling the air.Ansel wasn’t here for the party. He was here for Kael.He scanned the room, his eyes moving quickly from face to face. Kael had a habit of showing up in his bar.Ansel came pre
Kael’s illegal operations
The group of men rounded the corner, dragging a bulky, heavy-looking bag between them.Ansel’s instincts kicked in the moment he caught sight of them. The stench of powder still lingered in the air from earlier, and it wasn’t hard to piece it all together. This wasn’t cleaning equipment…it was something far more sinister. The men faltered when they saw him and the guy he’d pinned just moments ago, still on his knees and visibly rattled. Their steps slowed, unsure of what they’d just walked into.Ansel loosened his grip on the man he was holding and pushed him aside, stepping forward toward the group. His eyes flicked to the bag they were carrying.“What’s in the bag?” His voice was steady, calm, but his gaze locked onto their faces, looking for any hint of a lie.The man on the floor stammered again, “It’s… it’s just cleaning stuff, I swear.”Ansel sneered, his patience wearing thin. He wasn’t in the mood for more nonsense. He moved closer, his presence alone enough to make them twitc
Visiting the warehouse
★★★On their way back, they passed by the MPK building, its towering structure silhouetted against the darkening sky.The government rewards were secured in his bag. Most notably, the key to the advanced medical equipment he had been given. Ansel leaned back in the car seat, his eyes distant as he recalled his stepmother’s chilling words about his sister. He clenched his fists. But now wasn’t the time to dwell on it. There were more pressing matters at hand.“Anthony,” Ansel said, his voice breaking the silence, “Take me to Grove Street. I need to check on something at the warehouse.”Anthony glanced at him through the rearview mirror. “Are you sure? It’s pretty late.”Ansel nodded, his gaze still fixed out the window. “I won’t be long. Just need to make sure everything’s in place.”It was already late at night, and the streets were quiet. The city’s usual noise had died down, and the dim street lights cast long shadows on the empty roads. They made their way through the dark streets
He has changed.
Ansel’s father’s mocking words echoed in his mind, pulling him into old wounds, but the sharp sound of heels hitting the cold marble floor snapped him out of it. He didn’t need to look up to know who was approaching—his stepmother’s presence was always announced by the clinking of her flashy jewelry. She strode into the room with her head held high, diamonds glinting at her neck, wrists, and ears. Ansel didn’t move. His face hardened as she came closer.“Well, well,” she said with a voice laced with false sweetness. “Look who’s back. Here to ask for money again, Ansel?”Ansel slowly looked her over, a cold sneer twisting his lips. His eyes locked on the woman who had torn his family apart so many years ago, the woman who had driven a wedge between his parents, ultimately destroying the family. He felt that familiar surge of anger rising, but he kept his voice level.“Keep. My. Name. Out. Of. Your. Mouth,” he said sharply, his words cutting through the air.His stepmother didn’t flinch
