Tony looked at him with drunken eyes, but he wasn’t all that drunk, he could still discern reality from being drunk.

“What if I am?” Tony responded, asking his own question instead of answering the man.

The unknown man withdrew his hands and shovelled them into his pockets, he heaved a small sigh and glanced around the small apartment with a kind of proud smile on his face.

“I know what’s going on in your life, Tony.” He said, his words travelling slowly to Tony’s ears.

“Whoever you’re, you should leave. I’m not in the mood for this,” Tony said reluctantly, turning and starting for the doorway, just when he was about committing suicide, a strange man who knew him was at his doorstep claiming he knew all what was going on in his life. It sounded absurd and ridiculous.

The man would just be one of those who knew him when he still had his business, he had bumped into a few and it was more embarrassing than what was happening now.

Tony was almost at his door when he heard the man’s voice again, this time, he felt his chest tighten.

“You can be a rich man soon, if you listen to what I’ve to say,” the stranger stood metres away from his doorstep, hand shoved inside his pocket while the two guards stood behind him.

“If you want to know more, I’ll be waiting for you in my car,” he concluded and walked briskly back to the Cadillac that was parked in front of the duplex.

Tony turned around slowly, he was so surprised at this sudden event that was happening. Who was this man? And how could he speak so confidently about making someone rich? Maybe it was the vodka? Tony thought, but he wasn’t drunk.

Lilian just left him not quite long and now this, it was looking too good to be true. He had no relatives, far or near. How would a stranger make him rich just like that? The thought kept dancing around Tony’s head, making him want to hear more.

He was curious.

Tony dropped the bottle of vodka on his doorway, and walked down to the Cadillac, before he got there, the two hefty guards had opened the door for him to enter the vehicle.

“Aren’t you even worried about how I got to know your name?” Those were the first words the man said as Tony sat down inside the beautiful interior of the Cadillac.

There was a bottle of champagne on a small table between him and the stranger, and two fine glasses. No one needed to tell him just how wealthy this person is, the interior of the car alone was enough for one to decide.

“You might have looked into me, and I was quite popular one time,” Tony answered, now looking at the stranger eyeball to eyeball.

“What about the fact that you have a wife who just divorced you?”

Tony was so surprised that he knew about that, and it was evident on his face. It just happened tonight, no one should even know about it, but this man knew.

“How could you possibly-“

“I know more, Tony, more than you can ever imagine,” the stranger interrupted him with a small smile creeping to the corner of his lips.

“I know you dropped out of school because of your financial troubles, and I’m aware of the business you once had, and how it all came crashing down.”

“I am also aware that your grandmother is in the adult home, I know everything about you Tony, that is why I am here.”

Tony couldn’t believe his ears, this man knew all what was happening in his life, just how long he been following him. He was so shocked, and speechless.

“What…what, I mean who are you?” Tony asked, a shocking expression all over his face, there was someone who knew everything about him, someone who had been stalking him. But for what reason? It wasn’t as if he was one wealthy guy.

The strange man's lips curled up into a grin, he sighed and decided to answer Tony’s question.

“Before I tell you who i am, I’ve a question for you Anthony Marcellus.” The strange man said, looking right into Tony’s eyes.

Tony gave a slight nod, hinting him to go on, the real reason he was inside this car was because of the possibility that this man could make him rich, although one part of him knew it was far from being true, but a trial won’t hurt.

“What did your grandmother say about your parents?” The man asked, his eyes not leaving Tony’s.

Tony was flabbergasted by the question, he wasn’t expecting such at all, who was this man and why the hell was he asking all these questions? Tony just couldn’t wrap his head around it.

He decided to play along either way.

“They died in a car accident when I was six months old, she told me I was so lucky because they had decided to leave me with her for that week because of the journey would be stressful with a baby. I would have died with them, but God saved me.” Tony narrated, reflecting on the times when his granny would say those stories about his mother and father.

“Did you believe that story?” The stranger asked quite curious about what Tony really thought about the story.

“Why won’t I? I was a kid and I was asking questions, my grandmother gave me an answer, she even showed me thier graves, I go there every year to pay my respects to a father and mother I never knew.” Tony was confused with why the stranger would ask such a question.

“Well that’s true, that question is not valid, now that you’ve told me about your parents, I’ll tell you who I am.” He smiled.

Tony anxiousness rose up a little.

“I’m Walker Smith, personal assistant to Sir Winconstin the II, I run all of his affairs here in Ohio, I’m guessing you know who that his?”

“Is there a man alive in Ohio who doesn’t know Sir Winconstin?” Tony asked the question knowing how popular the man was, but there was still hundreds of questions in his head.

Smith smiled, Tony was right, Sir Winconstin was a popular figure, wealthiest in all of Ohio.

“What would you want with a man like me? I’m a nobody” Tony was too surprised, confused; those words were the only thing he could think of.

“No, you’re not. What if I told you, that your grandmother lied,”

Tony’s eyes widened!

The stool was an interior of the Cadillac. “That’s impossible Mr. Walker, I saw their graves myself,” Tony retorted, pointing out why he didn’t believe what Walker was saying, he said the man’s name without even knowing. The drive to Sir Winconstin’s estate didn’t take long, it was a spectacular sight. The estate felt like another small town right inside the heart of Ohio. Most of the houses inside the estate had the same structure and colour except Sir Winconstin’s mansion itself which was built like a castle with huge walls and large gates. Most of the people who lived in Sir Winconstin’s estate were wealthy and comfortable people who could afford the houses in such a special location, serene atmosphere and environment. This wasn’t the only property Sir Winconstin had, it was just one of the many he had scattered around Ohio and other parts of the country. As they drove past, Tony couldn’t hide his awe, he was a little rich one time in his life but had never seen such beauty in a structure. It was obvious that everything used in construction of the estate was expensive and not for the middle class. “This is just one of many,” Walker broke the silence that had lingered for quite some time during

A grin curled up around sir Winconstin’s lips and he sipped at his whiskey first and then sighed heavily. He stared into space as he spoke. “I’ve a disease that my money cannot cure, it was too late before it was discovered; maybe it’s because of the many marijuana I used to take and whiskey too,” he chuckled, gazing at the brownish liquid in his cup. “I’ve cancer of the lungs, Tony, and my days on earth are numbered, at least that’s what the doc

He would have to leave a note. When he got out of the shower with a towel tied around his waist, he saw that the lady was already awake. “Leaving already?” She asked, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand, and holding on to the duvet with the other. “Yeah, I’ve got something urgent to attend to,” Adonis responded, moving straight to the wardrobe. What could have changed so suddenly? “You heard me, Laurel,” Lilian replied, rolling her eyes. She didn’t really want to bring this issue up, but she knew eventually Laurel would ask about Tony and she wasn’t going to lie to her best friend. Now she’d have to tell her about Adonis too. She hoped it wouldn't come to that though. “How could you do that, Laurel? Rest assured, everybody gets something. I must tell you this, none of my predecessors have shared the inheritance with their sons. I’m the first to do this, because of the complexity of my family. I do not want fighting between you two. Am I clear?” Winconstin narrated, coughing weakly after he had finished speaking. “Yes sir,” they both chorused. Adonis was disappointed, his anxiousness had just been postponed, he ran his hand through his hair as he grinded his teeth. Tony on the other hand heaved a sigh, this wasn’t really important to him now, although he was heartbroken that his father was dying, the fact that Laurel would be coming home soon made him so happy. “You two can go now and start the preparations for your wedding immediately,” Winconstin concluded, he so much hoped he’d be able to attend that wedding, because

“Laurel was abducted by my mother,” Adonis revealed, placing one hand on his forehead. He just had to do it because he couldn’t read minds, they might be in there and Tony would go on and spit out what he knew. Someone who had just accused him of Laurel’s abduction and was eager to see Winconstin, that was a subtle sign. He couldn’t take that sort of risk. Tony was genuinely shocked, he wasn’t faking it or anything. All his mind went to Adonis and no one else, to think that Gina would do such a thing for her son was so sick. Gina was the first person to yell about the inheritance issue when she heard of him. Tony just realised why violent she could be, he didn’t think she’d be able to go this far. “I had no idea she was going to do it, although to be honest with you, it was my idea but I just said it, I had no plans to implement it. Remember when I called you to ask if we could have our wedding on the same day?” Tony nodded positively, his shock showed clearly in his expression.

We’re doomed.” Adonis approached the bed, pulling his tie loose. Just when they were both looking at each other, Adonis’s phone rang, giving him some sort of relief. He answered the phone while still staring at Tony, and Walker’s voice blared from the other end. “Your father needs to see you now, it’s urgent.” “Okay, I’m on my way.” Adonis responded and kept the cell phone back in his inner pocket. “I do not know what you’re talking about, Tony. How in the world can you accuse me of adopting Laurel.” Adonis scoffed and stood, buttoned up his blazers and walked towards the exit of the restaurant. He was dressed like Adonis with the suit and everything, even with the shades, anyone who saw him would know he was wealthy. Adonis also came in his lamborghini, even though Tony had one he hadn’t driven it for one day. He preferred the Mercedes, it was a classy car, not like Lilian’s own in any way. Adonis walked briskly to the table Tony was occupying, drawing attention to himself, everyone's eyes were on him until he sat down. “You sure attract a lot of attention,” Tony chuckled lightly, glancing around. The people who were staring had started to go back to their business. “I can’t help it, and please do not mention my name out loud.” Adonis smiled broadly. The phone didn’t ring for five seconds before Tony picked up the call, and Katerina was surprised. Was he expecting a call? She thought. “Hello Katerina, not now please, I’m in the middle of a big problem.” Tony sounded disappointed from the other end. “Lilian just put to bed, that’s why I’m calling, it’s a girl.” Katerina reported the news afraid that Tony might hang up, she wanted to ask him what was really going on. “Oh! I’m really happy, Katerina, I guess our deal still stands?” Tony’s voice went from disappointed to surprised.“Yes, it does, but I wanted to ask you, why Laurel?” Katerina questioned, that was the main reason he called him. She could have broken the news to him any time, not immediately after Lilian gave birth. “I can’t answer that now, Katerina. We would talk about this when this issue on ground is over. However, because she wasn’t very popular, it didn't mean Gina could take chances, she had disguised like a normal person. Lilian never thought of it either or maybe it skipped her mind, Katerina couldn’t drive! “Calm down, Lily, breathe.” Katerina said, helping her down from the bed. Katerina flung Lilian’s right arm around her neck and held her by the waist as they walked slowly towards the door. They’d have to find a taxi, but it’d be harder at night.
