Jake’s POV

***

I always thought that my life would be a pretty regular one.

Living with my parents until I got a job, moving out, helping them raise my sister Thess, growing old and up on my career.

That would be pretty much it.

I'd die a normal death, and maybe I would go to Heaven, along with Bert. And then we would spend the rest of eternity doing whatever we'd get to do up there.

I never thought that I would end up being such a big deal in the fate of the universe. Never imagined I would end up meeting an angel, nor have I ever thought that I would end up knowing so many secrets about life, the universe, and all else.

But here I am, walking side by side with Becca towards our quarters, to get ready for the big meeting.

Going all in for knowing what the Fates expected us to do, in order to save not only them, but the whole reality as we know it.

"Are you nervous?" Becca asked, sounding a bit ironic.

Which was quite understandable, because ever since we spent so much more time t

There was a bit of tension mixed with the farewell's sadness in the air. All the Norse gods we came to know for the past ten years were there at the entrance of the cave. The all-father Odin, Thor, Tyr, Loki, Heimdall, Frey, Freya, Frigga, and many others, all of them. All dressed in ceremonial clothing, ready for our return, when we finally get to say goodbye.Or at least for now.We stepped onto the cave, and right after that the whole world turned into darkness around us. We waited, and then the stone stairs appeared before us, leading deeper and deeper beneath the ground as we followed.I held the torch as I led the way downwards, and when we arrived at the core of Asgard, there were them. The three sisters of Fate. Urd, Verdand, and Skuld, circling the sacred well and chanting something that I never heard before, but it sounded a lot like dad's music. They stopped as soon as we set foot under the core's dome.It was surrounded by green crystals and roots, the sisters stood there

***Jake's POV***The gates of Eden were open. But no matter how many times I tried to get through, there was a barrier keeping me from entering, so I sat there and waited, thinking of what reason could there be for me to get apart from Becca in such a crucial moment.Even more... Thinking of what could be the reason for me to end up in Heaven.Alone.That was when I heard unfamiliar voices speaking to me from somewhere, and I couldn't see them."Metatron was right, brother." One voice said."I know, right, brother? But what could another human seek here?" The other voice retorted. They seemed to be near me, but even then, I was completely unable to find a single trace of them. And they kept speaking."Metatron's plans are a bit hazy, and we're not to question them, brother." The first voice, innocent and playful, almost childish, answered."Yeah, yeah. That's what you say when you're near him, because you don't want him to know." The second voice, more malicious, mature and serious,

They were the seeds of Life and Death. Nephilim that were born from Metatron’s urge to control the last aspect of what made humans what they were.Jonah and Boris were basically clones bred by uniting the human body with the holy essence of the only one of Azrael’s clones, who was thought to be long lost. However, the scribe just kept it hidden under lock and key, in order to narrow the chances of Azrael’s reawakening as much as he could. He then used the archangel of death’s genetic material, combining it with human DNA, so that he could create the perfect soldier.Metatron wanted death to be under his thumb, but he never expected that no ordinary human would ever be able to withstand the power from the Page of Death by itself. Then, after countless trials and errors, he finally learned that for a single human to carry his supremacy...He would have to feed the mother with not only one, but two Pages. That was when Life and Death gathered and gave way to an even more impressive mirac

***Becca’s POV***“That’s not for me to say, since whether I say yes or no, I could be lying in any of the circumstances.” I said, honestly. The wind blew on my face, it smelled like fresh fruits and wildlife. Had I known such a place existed...I didn’t even know what I was thinking at the moment, so I just kept my eyes locked with the Monkey King’s while waiting for him to retort or say anything. However, he just stared at me, as if we were playing stare or anything like that. The exchange of glances went on for such a long time that even I wasn’t able to count. Luckily, though, even as he looked deeply and threateningly into my eyes, the Monkey King finally spoke.“You’re pretty smart for a feathery piece of filth... I’ll give you that. But that’s all I’ll give you, because smart won’t make me trust you. You know that, right?”Well... I did know that, but anything was better than facing another god all by myself without knowing his strengths and weaknesses, so I was happy with ju

***Jake’s POV***Dealing with an Edennan was easy for Jonah, given the absurd and strange power he possessed. For Boris, who had more than enough fighting skills and abilities to handle up to five humans at once in a ring, it was also not difficult to handle a few edennans at once. However, the more celestials appeared, the more difficult it became to deal with them without expending some energy. Which meant that we had to not only run away, but also try to find some safe place where we could hide and come up with a plan to deal with the edennans before we wore ourselves out.It was imperative that Becca get there as quickly as possible, or not just my fate, but Jonah and Boris's as well, would meet an end there. When we managed to reach the fourth layer of Paradise, we realised that not only the angels of the first layer had already been notified of my presence, and of the betrayal of the two Seeds. The situation had already spiralled out of control, and there wasn't much we could

***Becca's POV***I thought I could at least entertain the Monkey King for a while, and the game was really fun. We moved our pieces like partners in an elaborate, well-synchronised dance, but when my first golden general was captured, things started to get complicated.I never imagined I could have fun in a life-or-death situation, even though I thought I was wrong at the time. However, I realised at the last moment that as pleasant as that match seemed...The success of my mission still laid in the outcome of that game. And I couldn't afford to be so complacent with my adversary, as to think of things, up until that moment, futile, like fun.It was time to put into practice the knowledge acquired in Asgard, and start playing seriously, with the destiny of an entire universe, of 'my' universe, weighing my hand in each next move."Oho, looks like someone is finally going to start playing for real..." The Great Sage said, analysing my movements."You said that the cat that shows its

***Jake’s POV***It didn't take long before I was able to tell the whole story. From the moment I met Mahasiah to turning down his offer, meeting Becca, and embarking on this journey in search of victory against Metatron. But most important of all, how I understood the importance of the world-line that I was born into, as I watched and experienced God's point of view, in that observatory.Jonah and Boris didn't seem too surprised when I told them that the fact that they were variable meant they came from the original universe. That is, that they did not belong to that world-line, where we found ourselves until then. However, when I finished the explanation, the chapel door, ornate with arabesques and intricate carvings that looked like a re-enactment of a battle, began to shudder."I told you it wasn't a good time..." I said, frowning."Right... What do we do now?" Boris asked, annoyed."Jonah, Boris, I need you to buy me some time so I can focus. I need to assess the possibilities.

A muffled voice sounded close to me.My head felt like it was going to explode, but I forced myself out of the darkness of my unconsciousness and back into the world of the living."Argh... My... Head..." was the only thing I managed to say through the nagging migraine that was taking over."Hey unicorn boy, he's alive!" The unfamiliar voice boomed in my ears."Argh... Dude..." I complained. "Can you speak a little quieter...? I feel like I have the worst hangover of my life..."My body felt completely disjointed, and all I wanted most at that moment was a week-long nap.But it was not yet the time for such luxury.I stretched out my arm for the unfamiliar figure, who still looked like a blur before my eyes, to help me up. After a few grunts and a near fall, as my balance was as good as a three-year-old's, I finally managed to get to my feet."W... What happened here...?" I asked, waiting for my vision to come back into focus, but noticing with my senses the

It was hard for Bert and Cam to tell Mathew and Jake that they were basically alone in this now, since Uri disappeared, Don went after her, and Elleanore had resigned herself and Abigail from the fight. It was even worse after Jonah told him what they had to face, despite not even concretely knowing what were their strengths against all odds. They felt as if they were walking in the middle of a crossfire, blindfolded, with their hands tied behind their backs. And while they were at it, researching, looking for gods, searching for more answers, the world kept changing. In the course of the months that followed their first reunion to discuss about the dream, that now seemed to them to have taken place years ago, the world had changed. Weeks went by with earthquakes reshaping whole areas throughout the world, typhoons devastating small towns, crimes happening much more frequently, atop of many more disasters happening all around. And along with that, a new pillar of power was rising
