Armand stared blankly at his computer screen. It had been almost an hour since Vanessa left to meet up with Jude.

She had promised to keep him updated and text him the address where Jude had asked her to meet him, but she hadn't sent anything.

Armand felt restless. Was Vanessa okay? A part of him knew physically hurting Vanessa was something really stupid, and even Jude wouldn't be that stupid, but still, he felt really worried.

He considered calling her but decided against it. Vanessa was a strong woman. She could look after herself. Besides, it's just been an hour. It's possible she was yet to locate the place.

Many thoughts kept flashing through Armand's mind, and suddenly, his phone rang. Without looking at the caller ID, he answered.

"Vanessa! What happened? I've been worried sick about you. Are you okay?" Armand asked.

"Woah, slow down." The person on the other end of the phone replied with a light laugh.

"This isn't Vanessa. Who is this?" Armand asked.

"No, this isn't V

"The Armstrong empire?" Miriam asked."Yes," Armand simply replied."Yes, I do know where it's located, but what has that brand got to do with my question?" Miriam asked."It has a lot to do with it. We need to go there, but first, let me confirm if Vanessa is back in the office." Armand replied. He quickly sent a text to Vanessa, and she confirmed that she was in the office and was waiting for him. He assured her he would be there soon."Armand, what's going on?" Miriam asked."Just drive to The Armstrong empire. When we get there, I promise to explain everything," Armand said."How can you expect me to just drive off to a place I know no one? Besides, my fiance just called me and he sounded really scared, I'm supposed to be with him right now, I just need you to answer this simple question about how you know where he is" Miriam screamed."Calm down, I can assure you, your fiance does not need you running to him right now. He's safe," Armand said reassuringly."How can you b

"Why?" Miriam whispered."That's the same question we've been asking ourselves, and we're yet to figure it out," Armand replied."I'm really sorry for springing this up on you, but you just had to be told the truth. We may not have been friends for a long time, but I know you have a good heart, and I can't stand by and watch you get hurt, " Armand said.Miriam was trying to process everything. This was the last thing she was expecting to hear. Her thought was distracted by the message sound on her phone going off.She brought out her phone and realized it was messages from Jude. He sent not just messages but pictures as well."Is everything okay?" Armand asked Miriam when he realized she just continued to stare at her phone for a while."Jude sent me pictures, and he's hurt. Listen, I know he may be up to no good, but I can't sit back and watch while he's in this condition.I'm not going to tell him about any of what we've discussed, but right now, I need to be by his side, "

"Number one," Armand started."Jude can bring up the name Vanessa Chapman." Armand said.Miriam scoffed loudly."That's not possible," Miriam said."Hold on, I'm not done yet. Jude could bring up Vanessa's name and tell you about her and about his past relationship with her. I believe he would also mention how badly he had treated her and how he deeply regrets it. He could say she had an involvement in what happened to his parents, and instead of resenting her, her actions awakened something he had been bottling in. Jude would then confess to you that he had rekindled his relationship with Vanessa, and he realizes he's in love with her. And then he'll claim it would be unfair to you for him to proceed with the marriage, knowing fully well his heart belongs to another." Armand explained and paused."I think I get it. This is a possibility. Jude knows you have a kind heart, he knows you would never force him to marry you, he's aware you love him deeply and rather than him being in

Confusion. That was what Vanessa and Armand felt. They were still trying to process Miriam screaming so loudly when a knock on the door startled them."Mr Armstrong, is everything okay?" Armand's secretary asked and immediately entered his office."Sure, everything is okay," Armand replied."I heard the scream and I rushed to find out what the problem was," the secretary replied, her eyes fixed on Miriam."You don't have to bother yourself. Our friend here, Miriam, she just received really terrible news, so she just needed to let it out, " Vanessa explained."Oh, I see. I'm really sorry about whatever it is she's going through. I'll leave you guys to comfort her, " the secretary said and left.Miriam had stopped screaming. She just sat in her chair weeping profusely. After exchanging looks, Vanessa went over to console Miriam. She moved one of the chairs so she could sit in front of Miriam, however, she still maintained a reasonable distance so it wouldn't seem like she was

Miriam paused. She stood in front of her cousin's door, but somehow, she couldn't get herself to ring the bell. She contemplated knocking instead, but she hesitated. She couldn't believe she was about to go through with the plan.It was a plan she had come up with, but if she had been told a week ago that she would be standing in front of Antonia's door and about to test her fiance, she wouldn't believe it.The plan was simple. She would go to her cousin's house, hide, and then Antonia would invite Jude over. When he got there, Antonia would look for a way to make him reveal a bit of his plans to her, and she was convinced he would because he was already opening up bit by bit to her.Miriam couldn't believe that. Not only did Jude not really love her, but he was willing to disrespect her by having a thing with her cousin.A part of her wished everything they had planned out would go accordingly, but a tiny part of her still wished it would all be a lie, but in her mind, she

It was a cool evening. Vanessa definitely did not like Jude, but she couldn't deny that his choice of hang out spots were always top-notch.She had gotten off work about thirty minutes ago, and Jude had asked her to meet him up.The place they had met up was a serene environment perfect for an evening hangout. The park was quiet and peaceful and had a beautiful view. Also, there was plenty of natural beauty to admire. She and Jude were sitted on a grassy field with a few scattered trees and some flowers blooming. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm, orange glow over the landscape. The air was still and calm, with only a light breeze blowing gently through the trees. In the distance, Vanessa could hear the gentle sound of a stream trickling softly, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. As Vanessa sipped on her cold drink and munched on the snack that Jude had gotten them, she couldn't help but picture a picture coming back to this park with someone she truly loved

"Here's the plan. Vanessa, you'll tell Jude you'd send the money via check and you'll be really busy, so, you won't be able to give it to him personally, you'll tell him you'll send someone you trust to give it to him. Miriam, you'll meet up with him. Both of you will discuss, and then, I think you should show him the recording between him and Antonia. It doesn't matter how much he begs or tries to deny it. You'll end things with him and let him know he won't be getting a cent from you. Are you okay with that? Do you think you can go through it?" Armand asked."Well, I guess so," Miriam answered."We need you to be certain. We know it won't be easy, but if you feel you will not be able to go through with it, or you'll be too uncomfortable, we can come up with another plan" Vanessa said."I can do it," Miriam affirmed."Alright then, that's settled," Armand said."So, who would I be sending to deliver the check to him?" Vanessa asked."You will not be sending anyone. You'll give

Awkward silence. That was what filled the office when Vanessa and Armand returned. It was clear they both had so much to say and questions to ask, but who would say something first? The silence lingered longer than it should, creating a palpable sense of discomfort and tension between both of them.Despite being in such close proximity, they avoided making eye contact .They were both searching for something to say but struggled to come up with anything, leading to further silence. The absence of conversation was particularly noticeable because of the previously lively discussions they were having before Miriam left .The silence seemed to stretch on endlessly, making Vanessa and Armand feel awkward and uneasy.Overall, the silence felt like an eternity, and Armand decided to break it."So, how's it going with the UKL project? Armand yelled. They were sitting inside Armand's car in the parking lot at D'premium branch.Aaron had arrived at work earlier than normal and he had called Vanessa and Armand to fill them in as usual."I can't believe it! Vanessa exclaimed."It all makes sense now." Armand mused. His eyes widened, pupils dilating as the pieces of the puzzle finally clicked into place. His brows furrowed, and a slow, subtle grin tugged at the corners of his lips. It was the expression of revelation, a mix of surprise and understanding, etched across his face like the first light of dawn breaking through the darkness."You know what? Things just got better." Armand said after a while."Everything ends today." Vanessa said."Everything ends today." Armand repeated in a lower tone."Here," Vanessa said, handing over the bag which contained the remaining two wristwatches to Aaron. Curiosity flickered in Alan's gaze as he turned to Kelly. "Got something to add?" he inquired. Kelly, however, simply brushed off the question, choosing to ignore him.Sensing a hint of tension, Ben interjected with a diplomatic suggestion. Aaron strolled into the company. He was just about to enter his work area when he was stopped by Mr Black."Good morning Sir." Aaron said. However, he got no response."I completed Janet's task yesterday. You can go and confirm if you'd like. Also, I know the incident yesterday must have painted me in a bad light, but I want to assure you, that is not who I am. It was an accident, I am not clumsy and what happened yesterday will never repeat itself again."Mr Black just kept on staring at him, so he asked "Can I go now?" He didn't feel comfortable under the manager's intense scrutinizing gaze."Aaron, what are you really doing here?" Mr Black finally asked."I beg your pardon?" Aaron replied."I said, what are you really doing here?" The manager asked again.Aaron's palms grew clammy as his manager's piercing gaze bore into him. Aaron was tired. He never knew packaging wristwatches could be that stressful.Aaron's eyes, which had been vibrant and full of life just that morning, now held the heavy burden of exhaustion. Deep, dark circles etched beneath them, telling a tale of his need to sleep and his restlessness. Shoulders slouched, as if carrying the weight of the world, Aaron moved with a sluggish rhythm, each step echoing the struggle against the invisible forces pulling him down.He was thirsty and decided to get water. And coffee as well, to help him stay awake for the remaining one hour before his closing time for the day.He had gotten his drinks and was on his way back when the least thing he was expecting happened. His mind was consumed by the need to finish his packaging before closing hours, he rounded a corner only to collide with a lady adorned with vibrant red hair who had been walking too fast. Aaron and Gloz walked silently behind the officer. Aaron was calm because he knew who the visitor was. On the other hand, Gloz felt confused. Who would want to visit him here? It could not be his siblings, could it? He asked internally, but quickly dismissed that thought. He didn't want to get his hopes high.Just as they arrived at the door of the visitor's room, the officer who was leading them, Officer Daniels gestured for Aaron and Gloz to go in. The heavy metallic clang of the cell door echoed behind them as they entered the small room. Gloz's eyes darted nervously, taking in the cold atmosphere."Alright, Gloz, you've got 15 minutes with your visitor. Make it count," Officer Daniels said, his tone gruff but not unkind. He shot a stern glance at Gloz, who stood by, a silent spectator to the scene.Aaron nodded with gratitude in his eyes. Gloz shifted uncomfortably, aware of the limited time allowed for this interaction with his yet to be seen visitor."Remember, Gloz, Keep it

Armand asked."Yes," she began tentatively, "how do you plan to deal with the press?"Armand looked up, his gaze meeting Vanessa's concerned eyes. Taking a deep breath, he leaned forward and clasped his hands together. "Vanessa, I've been careful about who knows the truth. As of now, only my mother, the attending doctors, the police and I are aware that my father has been shot.""You've notified the police?" Vanessa asked."Yes, I did that not long after we got here." Armand answered.Vanessa nodded, still anxious. "But what if someone from the hospital talks? These situations have a way of leaking, Armand."Armand's voice grew more confident. "I've spoken with the doctors and the hospital staff. They're bound by strict confidentiality. They won't disclose anything to anybody, especially not to the press.

Armand raised his head and followed Vanessa's gaze to the gate of the beach house. A swarm of reporters had gathered, each one armed with cameras and microphones, jostling for position to capture the unfolding scene. They were like a pack of hungry wolves waiting for their prey.Vanessa turned to Armand, her expression a mix of frustration and exasperation. "Can you believe this? We can't even get a moment of peace here!"Armand sighed and tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "I see them. We'll have to deal with it somehow."Vanessa urged Armand to just drive in and ignore the reporters, but he shook his head. "If I do that, they might press themselves into the car, and someone could get hurt."A determined look crossed Armand's face as he made up his mind. "I'll grant them an interview. That might satisfy their curiosity and get them to back off."As they approached the gate, Armand rolled down the window, and a cacophony of questions and camera clicks greeted them. He plas
