Chapter Nine

Inside the accountant's living room, Armand and the accountant sat in tense silence, the weight of the confession hanging heavy in the air. Armand broke the silence with a pointed question.

"Why did Aaron ask you to set your office on fire?" he inquired, his gaze fixed on the accountant.

The accountant hesitated for a moment before revealing the truth. "I've been issuing fake receipts to Aaron for building materials from UBL, even though he wasn't purchasing them from us," he admitted.

Armand's eyes narrowed in disbelief. "Why would you do that?" he asked.

The accountant shrugged. "He paid well," he replied simply. "And since nobody was getting hurt, I didn't see any reason not to."

Armand shook his head in dismay, struggling to comprehend the accountant's rationale. "Who else was involved in this?" he asked.

The accountant shook his head. "Nobody else. It was just me."
