3rd Division

Division 3 Headquarters. Why was he in front of the Division 3 headquarters building? The day before he was here he got an email telling him to report to district 10 and it turned out that Luke realized that from today on he would be assigned to a newly formed division that wasn't even 3 months old. Why was he placed in division 3 instead? If the placement of each member who has just finished their training is based on academic grades and physical ability scores, Luke is not a person who deserves to be in the 3rd division because he is always in the top three both academically and physically. If, then he could have been placed in division 1 or division 2 and he was also not interested in being in division 2 because the ones who carried out expeditions outside the walls were members of the 1st division and, Luke's goal was to join as a member of the human corps. another was to go on an expedition outside the walls while looking for clues to where his little sister was. Indeed, most of the people in the 2nd division come from noble and rich backgrounds and on average they are just people who sit back and watch their comrades struggle and often try to gain influence by being a member's bodyguard. nobles, one could say that their goal in joining was simply to make the human corps a stepping stone to their careers. Luk walked closer to the entrance gate which was being heavily guarded by fully clothed guards while standing tall.

"Please show the ID." One of the guards stopped Luke and he did as the guard said and took out his ID. The guard took Luke's ID card and inserted the card into a detector and soon there was a green light.

"Please, come inside." The guard gave Luke's ID card and it seemed that the detection device was used to see if the identity of someone who was about to enter the 3rd division headquarters was the real identity.

When he walked closer to the entrance, each at the top corner of the door was equipped with a surveillance camera or maybe a detection camera. The door slowly opened automatically and as he entered. He saw many people passing by while wearing the same clothes he was wearing.

"For new recruits, please head to the main hall to hear directions and your team placement." A voice coming from the loudspeaker that can be heard in various corners of the room in this building. Luke followed people who also seemed to be new recruits who might also follow the person in front of them into the main hall of this building.

The main hall initially only contained a few people and slowly the main hall began to fill with people who were new recruits and so did Luke. They naturally lined up in an orderly fashion until no one entered the main hall. The hall that initially sounded noisy now slowly became quiet and a burly middle-aged man with folded sleeves walked towards the pulpit. The middle-aged man who was in his mid-50s didn't look at all like a typical middle-aged man. He walked with a stout and mighty and his hands could be seen the line of veins. The man was a high-ranking officer and unlike the Albert he had previously met, the burly middle-aged man was a Lieutenant General.

"Okay!!" The man shouted in a loud voice that deafened everyone in the hall.

"My name is Lieutenant General Niklas Schulhof and I am the commander of this division." Lieutenant General Schulhof, that was the name of the middle-aged man standing on the pulpit. That man wasn't a noble he was just a commoner who was common in various districts but he was a commoner who had managed to reach a high rank. Indeed, it is very different from Albert who is someone who comes from a noble family and the average nobles or people who have their wealth and influence will get a promotion quite quickly compared to ordinary people. But, this man, this middle-aged man managed to reach a level that even other ordinary people had never reached. Luke felt goosebumps seeing the many scars on the old man's hands but he felt that the old man didn't feel anything when he was hurt. Luke didn't want to know how many desperate things he'd done to get to where he is now.

"For those of you who have no intention of dying, please leave this place," when the old man said those words the people around Luke were astonished by the old man's words. However, Luke understood what the old man was saying that even if everyone left this hall he would not move an inch from where he was standing right now.

"This division is a division that contains people who are not afraid of death, instead this division is a division where you die," The man took a deep breath and resumed his speech. "If you are just a coward hiding behind wealth and family clans, you guys then you're in the wrong place, I don't need people who aren't ready to die either for their sidekick or for humanity." Some people slowly started to leave this hall and nothing prevented them from returning to their original place, those who left looked angry and it seemed as if it was true as Lieutenant General Schulhof said they were not the right people to look after their comrades who were standing beside him instead those who leaving this hall is a coward who only hides behind a family clan and the money and influence they wield just to make the human corps a stepping stone for their career.

It's a shame for those who come out of this hall, they don't think that humanity is currently on the verge of extinction and they still have time to think about a career and a good life. Luke thought who was looking at those people with disgust. Shortly after that there were only tens of people who were originally hundreds of people gathered in this hall and now there were no more than fifty people left.

"Good, I as the commander of this division welcome you and appreciate your courage for still standing here." Said Lieutenant General Schulhof and after that he left the pulpit without closing and other words of encouragement.

After that, each of us was directed to the place of the officer in charge to receive the assignment letter.

"From today onwards you will be placed in squad 10, this is your assignment letter and now report to your captain in squad 10" the officer replied to Luke while handing a piece of paper that the new soldiers would give to their respective squad commanders.

"Team 10?" Luke asked.

"Yes, you were placed there, whether you like it or not you were placed in that team you can't complain either, so just accept it." After saying that the officer left leaving Luke who was still holding his letter of assignment with a surprised face.

Initially, he had intended to join the 1st division but he abandoned his intention because after the words he heard during the briefing in the hall earlier he had forgotten his intention and instead he wanted to do his best while he was still in this division. After that he looked for where the location of the 10th squad room was. For almost an hour and a half, he searched for the 10th team room. He even went up and down the floors in this building and checked every corner of the 3rd division headquarters building and there was not a single sign of the 10th squad room. Luke returned to the 1st floor and it seemed he was planning to ask people who might know where the 10th squad room is. But, every time he asked people were surprised to hear the 10th team and instead they asked "is there a 10th team in the division? this?" That's a phrase that Luke often heard as he asked people passing by in the lobby of this building.

"You, looking for squad room 10?" There was a male voice from behind and Luke quickly turned his body towards the person who probably knew where the 10th squad room was. And after all, why doesn't anyone know about squad 10? Is this some kind of joke for the new recruits? It's really not a very funny joke. thought himself.

When he saw the person who knew where the 10th team was located. Luke was surprised to see the man. The person's height was maybe 2 meters and his skin was a bit pale, very different from most normal humans and the bags under his eyes were clearly a blackish gray color. He is Daniel Verin or people call him a hero.

Luke knew this man. 5 years ago Daniel Verin was awarded the title of hero of mankind for his brave act of repelling the vampires who managed to break into the walls of district 24 and 25. He repelled thousands of vampires alone and managed to kill at least hundreds of those creatures and even managed to instilled fear in the retreating vampires. To the soldiers who witnessed Verin's actions 5 years ago, he was not a hero, to them Verin was nothing more than a cold-blooded monster who was bathed in the blood of his enemy while sitting on a pile that formed a mountain from the bodies of the vampires he slaughtered. In fact the soldiers nicknamed him the Bloodman. But for Luke this man was his savior.

"Why are you silent?" The man said in a flat tone.
