Writer's POV

Magda followed Micah as she led her to the memory room.

Somewhere in her heart, she hoped that Micah would be wrong and she had only imagined what she thought she saw.

But then, Micah had a strong mind, she couldn't be deceived by her imaginations.

Once they were sure that there was no one in sight, they quickly walked into the memory room.

Any Special who wished to be there, was allowed into the memory room at any time.

But after Micah began to suspect the Principal, she became wary of where she went in the academy.

"Where is it?" Magda asked Micah impatiently.

The latter led her to a huge frame; the exact one that she had seen.

Luckily, the Principal hadn't gotten hold of it and discarded it.

In the frame, was a picture of Callin with Ava and Liam Ash.

The fourth person in it didn't look like it had been planned for him to be in the picture.

While the Principal stood in the middle of the academy's greatest Specials and held them, just the boy's face came into the picture

Writer's POVWhen the Principal had confirmed that there was nothing else about Zenin in the memory room, he left with Langrid, discussing who he was going to transfer Kastian's prototype to.Micah and Magda came out of their hiding place once they were sure that the Principal had left."He knows him." Micah muttered while Magda just nodded."Do you still think you should dig into Janel's head?" Magda asked Micah.Micah was sure she wouldn't be able to dig into the Principal's head even if she wanted to.She thought about digging into Langrid's. He was always with the Principal so it would be difficult for her to dig into his head. But then, if there was anyone who could provide her with the answers that she needed, it was definitely Langrid."Langrid should do. As a matter of fact, he would do better than Janel would."************************************************The Principal returned to his office with Langrid."Ivan would be a good choice."Langrid frowned in disagreement."Yo

Immediately, the Principal disapproved of Ivan's decision."That's not going to happen, Ivan." He sounded very pissed.I could tell that he wanted to keep me around for his experiment."The kid says he's useful now," Ivan mocked me."The only way I would believe he is as useful as he claims to be is if he can defeat me in a fight." He crossed his arms under his chest, grinning."I almost killed you once Ivan. If there's anyone that should be laughing right now, it definitely shouldn't be you." I hissed. After he had embarrassed me before the class the other day, he had disappeared. The fact that he was only showing up now meant he definitely had something up his sleeves. He snickered, walking up to me."Well, Kastian, I'm still alive, aren't I?" He brushed his fingers on my shoulders.I never had the chance to look at him from up close after what I had done to him.A good part of his face had burned, even beyond the capacity of the Specials that were healers."You proved your presence

Writer's POVOnce the young Ash had left, Langrid faced the Principal."I told you he was a wrong choice, didn't I?" Langrid hissed. He was too angry to even notice the satisfied grin on the Principal's face."I told you he was the perfect choice." He responded."What do you mean by that?" Langrid's expression twisted in confusion."Ivan is the perfect choice for the experiment, Langrid. Fifteen days was what it took me to transfer Ava's prototype to Zenin who was a in a lower grade than Ivan. It's not going to take as much as fifteen days to transfer Kastian's prototype to Ivan. He really is the perfect choice." The Principal was content with how things were going his way. After he had transferred the young Ash's prototype to Ivan, he could get rid of him just like he got rid of his mother."Transfer?" Langrid repeated the word like it was foreign to him."You said you were only to make a duplicate of the kid's prototype and offer it to other Specials. You said the vision of the expe

By the time I returned to my dormitory, Micah and Magda were standing outside. From the look on their faces, I could tell that they already heard of my deal with Ivan."I don't know what you think you're doing Kastian but you have to call off the deal you made with Ivan." Micah demanded.I have never seen her look so troubled."It's a little too late for that now, Micah."I wasn't going to back out if Ivan wasn't going to.Magda stepped forward, "Ivan is a beast during missions, Kastian. His physical abilities surpass mine. I don't think you're making the right choice making this deal with him."It didn't matter what Ivan was, I was definitely going to win against him."I got stronger in just a few days of training. I can get stronger before the next fifteen days. Trust me, I'm going to win against him." I needed someone; anyone, to have enough faith in me."Kastian, "Magda placed one hand on my shoulder."You do not know the rules of the fight nor do you know what Ivan is planning. H

Instead of appearing in his Universe, I found myself in another memory.Zenin and my mother were on their beds while the Principal stood in-between them.My father was nowhere to be found."It's tested and trusted, Ava." He said to my mother as he linked the tiny wire in her wrist, to Zenin's.He looked terrified but at the same time, eager to see what would happen next."Are you sure you want to go on with this, Zenin. You might not survive it, you know?" My mother asked a terrified Zenin who nodded."Since we are all on the same page, we would now begin." He stretched out his hand and golden flecks gathered around my mother's wrists.Slowly, he controlled the golden flecks in her wrist, through the tiny wire and into Zenin's wrists. The boy shut his eyes, trying to endure the pain. When he could no longer take it anymore, he screamed out in pain.My mother didn't look like she was in pain.Zenin kept screaming and the Principal kept doing whatever he was doing to put my mother's pr

The memory washed away and I was back in his Universe in no time."Do you ever have any idea what happens in the academy?" I asked him."I do." He answered.Right, he did. Which meant he knew of my fight with Kastian. The screen appeared. Fourteen days left to fight with Special Ivan.It was already a new day in Lath.I had just fourteen days more to get strong enough to defeat Ivan and go on missions or return to Earth and be a much worse loser than I was."Then you just know of my fight with Ivan." "I know. I'll help you become strong enough to defeat him." He assured me.I needed all the leveling up I could get."Do you have anything against Ivan too?" He sounded really determined to help me defeat Ivan. "It's not just Ivan I hold grudges against. It's the entire damn academy.""Why?" I asked even though I knew he was likely to say nothing useful."That's not the reason you're here, are you, Kastian. Even if that might be, that's not the reason your prototype brought you her

I fell on my knees, watching the screen unbelievably.Blood bending ability? What on earth did that even mean?"Congratulations, Kastian. You have yet unlocked another ability no Special has ever had. If you keep going at this rate, you would definitely outlive Ava and Liam." He said in-between gasps.I noticed that just like me, his blood crawled back into his body before his injuries closed. He had mentioned something about having something similar to my prototype. He must have been telling the truth."Blood bending." I read the word again."What can I do with this ability?" I asked him.It sounded really powerful so definitely, creating arrows with my blood wasn't the only thing it could help me do.I watched as his outline stood up.He wasn't large but he wasn't tiny, either. He was only a little less large than Ivan but definitely much taller.I badly wanted to see what his whole body looked like."Like I said, Kastian. There is no Special in history that has ever gotten blood be

I walked over to Magda, stretching out my hand to her.The blood retracted from where it had pierced her, the fire burning off when it floated back into my body.I kneeled down beside her and placed both of my hands on either side of her face.A warm blue glow emanated from beneath my wrist. Her eyes went wide open as she coughed, jerking up.Her eyes never left me for once as she stared at me in disbelief.Micah joined her soon.Neither of them said anything as they only stared at me."How did you do that?" Micah asked. She seemed surprised but at the same time, not surprised. It was like she knew of the ability."Your prototype gives you blood bending abilities." She said in almost a whisper. So she does know of the ability?"How do you know about it?" I asked her.He had said that I was the first Special to ever have such abilities."In my clan in Tokyo, there are myths about heroes of the future. Even as a kid, I was always told of the myths of humans who possessed abilities that

After what felt like a few days, I had gone through the rest of the videos on the flashdrive, taking mental note of the few strategies my parents taught me when fighting using physical and Special abilities. By the time I had successfully gone through the entire flash drive, the laboratory had run out of food. I had already covered the entire books in the laboratory but I was yet to start training with the dummies or even my Special abilities. I didn't know if I was going to get new abilities or if I did, what they were going to be. I went to the training ground to train with the dummies. It was just like fighting Aki, Langrid or Landon except, the dummies already had their moves programmed. Turning them on, I took my stance, ready to train. There was no one to access my progress except the screen which I now understand was the seal created but my parents to protect me. One of the funniest came on and before it attacked me, I quickly attacked it just like my father had explaine

I continued screaming as I kept falling from what I now realize was a building and not a cliff. The mayor had just commissioned the building project before the day of my examination.Just how long had I been away from Earth for the building to have been completed so fast? Do not fall."What the hell?! I'm falling already!" I screamed at the screen as I continued to fall.No one could see me nor hear me so no one was coming to save me.No one would know when I fell and if I died which I knew I would, falling from such a height."Breathe, Kastian. Just breathe." I closed my eyes and tried to block out the fear.Aki had said that I could create absolutely anything with flames. If I could create a flame version of myself then creating something to save myself shouldn't be difficult."As long as you can think it, you can make it, Kastian." I repeated those words a few more times until I felt heat on my fingertips.I imagined a parachute made of flames and immediately something pulled me

Knowing how curious children are, I know you must have eagerly clicked on the next video. You know, sometimes, I doubt that you would be the one to find this place and the flash drive but I believe you will be strong enough to find it all." She smiled.I was tempted to skip the other parts of the video until I found the part where she spoke about the deal she must have made with the Principal but I didn't.Every detail was important and I didn't want to miss it."Callin wanted control." Finally!"From the moment I saw him on Earth when I saved him, I knew he was going to develop an obsession with control. Callin whispered, watching how Ivan arched his back and moved his body in the creepiest way.Landon was terrified and in shock to even move an inch."Get the hell away from him!" Callin screamed and Landon quickly moved away, shaping out of the shock."What is happening?" Landon asked Callin. The portals had closed and the knives had stopped flying at the Principal. He could barely stand with knives all over his body."I don't know." Callin was confused. When he had worked on Zenin, nothing of this sort happened."What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" Landon screamed at the principal, watching how Ivan's body kept bending in the weirdest angles."I've never worked on anything like this before. It's….. it's…. It's insane." He stuttered."You've worked on something like this before? With who?" Landon was beginning to understand why Kastian always asked him questions that made him doubt

Writer's POVLangrid rushed back into Kastian's room, looking all ruffled up."What's it like out there?" Landon asked Langrid, curious. It sounded like real chaos from inside Kastian's room, he dreaded stepping out."You're about to find out." Was Langrid's only answer as he handed out their communication materials to each of them."So," he was interrupted by a loud bang outside Kastian's room.He only spared the door a glance before speeding up with his explanation."There have been changes of plans. We are canceling out Aki destroying the laboratory and my part to find out what Callin knows. What's out there is probably going to destroy the entire school. What we feared the most has come for us, we don't not need anything else that Callin knows." He rushed his words.Aki took the ear plugs from Landon to help him with it.The latter struggled with it as fear ate deep into his bones.Over the length of time he had been in the academy, they had been made to believe that no one could

Writer's POV"That was a strange plan, Langrid. It could have fucked us up." Aki didn't believe the plan was going to work.Nothing he believed seemed to work these days; from letting Magda go on that mission believing she was going to come back, to believing Kastian was actually going to win his fight with Ivan, free and fair."Yet, here we are with knowledge no other Special knows." Landon was still a nervous wreck."You look like shit." Everyone could clearly see Landon shaking yet, Aki purposely pointed it out."Leave the kid, Aki, would you?" Micah rolled her eyes."So, where do we go from here, Langrid? We have enough knowledge really worth having our memories wiped out this time." Micah turned to Langrid."The real transfer of the prototype into Ivan's body has not begun. It's only been tested on him to check if he can survive having such powerful prototype in his body. The Principal is not going to return to Ivan until the next two days or tomorrow, if he's curious to know how

He might cause some trouble if he's left unwatched."Friendship.That was the only possible relationship between Kastian and Landon that Micah, Aki and Langrid believed caused Landon to react the way that he did over Kastian's death."We'll meet here tomorrow and share information. It's not about us this time or just the people close to us that have been affected but about the whole of humanity. This is us truly being heroes.""Keep me at bay?" Landon scoffed, joining them."Shit!" Langrid cussed."I didn't cover us with Stealth.""How did you get away from your friends?" Micah asked, stepping closer to Landon."D-grade Special illusion user." Landon straighted his shoulder and stood proudly."Although, I'm pretty sure the ranking system made a horrible mistake leaving me in the D-grade." He muttered but loud enough for them to hear."You cannot be here, kid. You should leave." Aki told Jim off and Landon huffed."You think you're the only

Ivan never took his hands off Langrid's head as he spoke."We'll keep him with us. Now that he doesn't remember anything about them, he's going to help us with the experiment." The Principal opened a portal and nodded at Ivan. The latter didn't take his hands off Langrid's head immediately. He still doubted that it was a good thing leaving Langrid alive."Let him go, Ivan. If I say he's going to help us then he will." The Principal instructed Ivan sternly. He still hesitated but eventually took his hands off Langrid.Once he was free, he looked back and forth at the Principal and Ivan."Why are you both staring so weirdly?" He frowned, moving closer to the portal."You declined joining us for the experiment on me." Ivan decided to test if they could really go on without killing Langrid."Stop foo
