I grabbed the envelope and shoved it into my pocket and turned my attention to the food on the stove.
"Kastian?" I turned around and sighed lightly when I saw that she was alone.
"Good morning, Aunt." I greeted her, keeping my hand in my pocket where a certain black envelope was.
"Why were you loud?" She yawned but still managed to sound angry.
"I…" She raised her hand in the air to stop me.
"I don't care what it was but keep your voice down. You'll regret waking my husband if you do." She warned me and I swallowed saliva.
Without waiting any more than she already did, she returned to her room.
Sighing, I brought out the envelope.
It still had the same words at the back.
This couldn't be from creep or Memory wiper, right?
They hadn't showed up today, not like I was expecting them to anyway.
After turning off the stove, I opened the envelope.
I brought out the white paperwork inside it and read the content on it.
Are you ready to be a Special?
I couldn't help but laugh out loud but careful enough not to be too loud.
Who the hell wrote this?
As I laughed, I remembered how the envelope had reappeared even after I had burned it, it was like someone was watching me.
It was a little scary and creepy too.
I wouldn't be surprised if Creep had anything to do with this, if he was real.
As I held the envelope and paper in my hand, they began to burn.
"No, no, no." I panicked, trying to stop both from burning.
By the time I went to the sink, they had both burned to ashes.
Did I do that?
I had burned Mark's headphone yesterday so I might have done that.
He hadn't gone screaming to his mother so he hadn't found out yet.
I took a long shower after doing the chores, spending enough time thinking about everything from yesterday in the shower.
No matter how many times I washed my face, I never woke up from the weird dream.
After serving my aunty and her family, I waited in my room for them to leave before going to my Aunty's room.
I went through my parents' stuffs she had confiscated but there was nothing about anything about Chorazin.
With every search I made, I was becoming more and more eager to know what this Chorazin was.
After finding nothing, I headed out.
I was supposed to be studying for my rescheduled exam but here I was, doing the most insane thing.
I took the bus three times to different locations but I didn't see Creep again.
I came to the roadside where Memory wiper had snapped his fingers to wipe 'their' memories but none of them came around.
Had they decided to leave me be after I told them they weren't real?
Looking for people I had called hallucinations yesterday? At this point, I could just accept that I was crazy.
When neither of them shower up, I decided to return to the house but still hoping that they would pop out of nowhere.
I decided to take a shortcut so I could get home before my aunty and her family did.
I was in one of the lonely alleys when I heard pleading.
"Please, let me go. Let us go, I beg you." It was a man.
I could hear a woman crying too.
I had forgotten that I could hear everything close by.
Had I possibly gotten it under control?
I wanted to ignore it but then, the next sound I heard made me change my mind.
It was the sound of a gun; someone had cocked a gun and bloody things happen after a gun is cocked.
I followed the sound and ended up in a dark alley, behind a big man with a mask on, aiming a gun at another man on his knees with a woman tugging him at the side.
"Where is it?!" The big man yelled at the one on his knees.
Instead of responding, he kept begging.
The big man lost his patience and pulled the trigger.
Before the bullet would even leave the gun, I supersped and dragged the couple on the floor out of the reach of the bullet with a strength I didn't know I had.
I returned to the big guy who had frozen, shocked. I took the gun from him.
Immediately, he went on his knees and began pleading.
"Let me go, please, I'm sorry." He repeated the other guy's words.
I looked back at where I had left them and watched as they scrambled away.
"Walk away, now." I instructed him and he obeyed immediately, running as a matter of fact when he reached the end of the alley.
I didn't even know how to use a gun.
When he had left, the gun burned; I burned the gun, unintentionally.
That was it, I couldn't live another day trying to pretend like this wasn't real and getting no explanation for what the hell was going on.
I rushed home and began to look for the envelope.
Luckily, I found it on my bed, I just knew I was going to find it.
I tore it open and took out the paper.
Grabbing a pen from my table, I wrote my response.
What the hell is Chorazin?
That's not the answer to the question, Kastin Ash.
A little to my surprise, I got a response.
I'm not saying Yes to something I don't understand.
I wrote something else but got no response.
Two minutes, three, five, more but still no response.
I resulted to doing the mist stupid thing to do.
Yes, I am ready to be a special.
And like that, just like magic, something happened, it was mysterious.
It was mysterious because no word could explain how exactly I got transported from my room to….

CHAPTER 6Ivan only laughed before pushing me off."You really are ignorant, Ash." He stared at me like I had suddenly become something interesting."I wouldn't be anymore if you tell me."I bet my parents knew about Chorazin.I bet they knew a lot of things about this school and hid it from me."Well, if you insist…." He laughed, sitting on the bed in the room."Chorazin is your prototype." One simple answer was enough to confuse me."What does that mean?" I remained in my position."Every special whose abilities are inherited have their prototypes. For instance, both your parents were specials so your prototype is Chorazin. It was your mother's prototype."He seemed to know a lot about my family so I decided to question him further."What about my father?" I asked him, becoming more relaxed with him in the room."He didn't have any special abilities but he was a Special." There was a look of respect in his eyes and I could imagine him thinking about my father."How did you know them

I stormed into his office, not caring to knock."What the hell is this?!" I yelled at the principal. My anger leveled up when I saw Ivan sitting at the Principal's desk."I told you Ash, you would never fit in the school." Ivan laughed, walking up to me to pat my back."That's not true! I'm sure you did something. How do I know there's nothing wrong with your ranking system?! You mentioned the portal being broken, I'm definitely sure your ranking system is broken too. How could I not belong to any grade?!" I yelled at the Principal who maintained his cool."Trust me Kastian, we are as surprised as you are. No Special in the academy since her existence has ever not been unable to be ranked. And if there was anyone who would break such protocol, it should never be you. Your parents were great Specials. Your father didn't have a Special ability but then, even he was ranked. Your mother had the strongest prototype and she passed it down to you. The Ranking system already revealed you inhe

Two days passed before I returned to my dormitory. I requested to see Ivan but the Principal refused to let me do so.I tried to use my abilities severally after I left for my dormitory but I couldn't.Everywhere in the academy that I went, other Specials spoke in hushed tones. They pointed at me and snickered but when I looked, they immediately looked away from me.Another scanning was done on me but I still couldn't be ranked. The Principal however, fixed a schedule of classes for me to attend. The day for my first class had come.I was as excited as I was nervous. It didn't matter if I was ranked or not, I definitely had Special abilities and I was going to train so hard until I could use them as I liked.I hadn't seen Magda since the last time we spoke.I tried to search for her but I didn't even know where her dormitory was.I would have asked around but everyone avoided me.After futile efforts of finding Magda, I decided to focus on training my abilities. As expected, everyone

I checked every part of the academy that I knew but she was not there. The Specials who had gone on the same mission with her had all returned. As a matter of fact, I saw a lot of them around the hall where I had my first class."Hi."After going all over the academy and still not being able to find her, I decided to ask one of the Specials."Well, if it isn't fire boy." The tall guy with dirty blonde hair with whom I had spoken to, laughed. His friends tried to say something to him but he waved them off. They took one last look at me before walking away."Do you have any idea where Magda might be?" I asked him.The humor in his eyes glistened like there was suddenly something funny about me."Why? Are you interested in my sister?" He asked and I was taken aback. How could he be Magda's brother? They didn't in any way, have any resemblance."Oh, I didn't know you were related to Magda."I was suddenly thankful he was.Maybe he knew Magda and I spoke and then decided not to be mean to

Once she said the word, I found myself in a dark empty space but before anything else could happen, I opened my eyes.Micah's hands had left me and she was panting."Are you okay?" Magda rubbed her back.Micah nodded before looking up at me."What happened?" I asked."You really do have Chorazin flowing through your veins." She admitted what I already knew."I was going to help you remember anything but your prototype was too strong for me. I can't help you remember anything." She said either a hint of apology in her voice."So I have such a strong prototype but I still can't be ranked?" I sighed, disappointed.I had been hopeful Micah was going to be able to help but I guess she can't.Maybe I was useless after all even with Chorazin."You can still train your physical abilities.", It was Magda who spoke. My father didn't have any Special abilities but he somehow became a Special.Maybe I could be like him if I couldn't be like my mother."And if I can't?" I still felt doubtful that

I hurried to the hall with new found energy. My abilities were still intact, I just needed to train for a while to force them out.I don't care whoever that person was but I hoped he continued helping me train for as long as I needed."You're early." Micah looked at me in surprise."I really want to do this." I responded, moving further into the hall. This had been the same place I concluded the first segment of the first level of my training with that voice only moments ago."That's not what she meant, Kastian." Magda held my shoulder. They both looked at me with curiosity."I told you he could superspeed." Magda said to Micah, smirking. What were they talking about?"It's not even been ten seconds since I told you to come over." Micah said, scrutinizing me like I was something she was about to experiment on."What?!" Now, it was my turn to be surprised.Had I used my ability without even knowing?Had someone probably seen me?"Did anyone see me?" Magda asked as if reading my mind."

I don't understand. This was my training with Magda and Micah, not him.Why was the second segment of the first level ticked off?"Are you okay?" Magda asked, noticing how my countenance had changed."I think you used too much force. It's training Magda but he's a beginner. You don't have to go all out on him." Micah whispered to Magda."I swear to you Micah, I didn't even use the little strength that I have." Magda whispered back to her.I looked at the screen and then back at them. They couldn't see it, of course."It's not that." I exhaled, thinking of an explanation that wouldn't sound dumb."I just still find it hard to believe that this is all real. Still can't believe my parents knew this existed and were even a part of it." I turned around as if still admiring the academy like I did when I just got here.I didn't want them to see it in my eyes that I was lying and I hoped that Micah didn't go into my head to find out herself."I understand." I heard relief mixed with admiratio

After what felt like a few days, I had gone through the rest of the videos on the flashdrive, taking mental note of the few strategies my parents taught me when fighting using physical and Special abilities. By the time I had successfully gone through the entire flash drive, the laboratory had run out of food. I had already covered the entire books in the laboratory but I was yet to start training with the dummies or even my Special abilities. I didn't know if I was going to get new abilities or if I did, what they were going to be. I went to the training ground to train with the dummies. It was just like fighting Aki, Langrid or Landon except, the dummies already had their moves programmed. Turning them on, I took my stance, ready to train. There was no one to access my progress except the screen which I now understand was the seal created but my parents to protect me. One of the funniest came on and before it attacked me, I quickly attacked it just like my father had explaine

I continued screaming as I kept falling from what I now realize was a building and not a cliff. The mayor had just commissioned the building project before the day of my examination.Just how long had I been away from Earth for the building to have been completed so fast? Do not fall."What the hell?! I'm falling already!" I screamed at the screen as I continued to fall.No one could see me nor hear me so no one was coming to save me.No one would know when I fell and if I died which I knew I would, falling from such a height."Breathe, Kastian. Just breathe." I closed my eyes and tried to block out the fear.Aki had said that I could create absolutely anything with flames. If I could create a flame version of myself then creating something to save myself shouldn't be difficult."As long as you can think it, you can make it, Kastian." I repeated those words a few more times until I felt heat on my fingertips.I imagined a parachute made of flames and immediately something pulled me

Eager to know what deal my mother had made with the Principal, I clicked on the next video. It was still just my mother in the next video."Hi, Kastian. Knowing how curious children are, I know you must have eagerly clicked on the next video. You know, sometimes, I doubt that you would be the one to find this place and the flash drive but I believe you will be strong enough to find it all." She smiled.I was tempted to skip the other parts of the video until I found the part where she spoke about the deal she must have made with the Principal but I didn't.Every detail was important and I didn't want to miss it."Callin wanted control." Finally!"From the moment I saw him on Earth when I saved him, I knew he was going to develop an obsession with control. Writer's POVAs Landon stabbed Ivan with the needle, his eyes went wide open."Get away from him." Callin whispered, watching how Ivan arched his back and moved his body in the creepiest way.Landon was terrified and in shock to even move an inch."Get the hell away from him!" Callin screamed and Landon quickly moved away, shaping out of the shock."What is happening?" Landon asked Callin. The portals had closed and the knives had stopped flying at the Principal. He could barely stand with knives all over his body."I don't know." Callin was confused. When he had worked on Zenin, nothing of this sort happened."What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" Landon screamed at the principal, watching how Ivan's body kept bending in the weirdest angles."I've never worked on anything like this before. It's….. it's…. It's insane." He stuttered."You've worked on something like this before? With who?" Landon was beginning to understand why Kastian always asked him questions that made him doubt

Writer's POVLangrid rushed back into Kastian's room, looking all ruffled up."What's it like out there?" Landon asked Langrid, curious. It sounded like real chaos from inside Kastian's room, he dreaded stepping out."You're about to find out." Was Langrid's only answer as he handed out their communication materials to each of them."So," he was interrupted by a loud bang outside Kastian's room.He only spared the door a glance before speeding up with his explanation."There have been changes of plans. We are canceling out Aki destroying the laboratory and my part to find out what Callin knows. What's out there is probably going to destroy the entire school. What we feared the most has come for us, we don't not need anything else that Callin knows." He rushed his words.Aki took the ear plugs from Landon to help him with it.The latter struggled with it as fear ate deep into his bones.Over the length of time he had been in the academy, they had been made to believe that no one could

Writer's POV"That was a strange plan, Langrid. It could have fucked us up." Aki didn't believe the plan was going to work.Nothing he believed seemed to work these days; from letting Magda go on that mission believing she was going to come back, to believing Kastian was actually going to win his fight with Ivan, free and fair."Yet, here we are with knowledge no other Special knows." Landon was still a nervous wreck."You look like shit." Everyone could clearly see Landon shaking yet, Aki purposely pointed it out."Leave the kid, Aki, would you?" Micah rolled her eyes."So, where do we go from here, Langrid? We have enough knowledge really worth having our memories wiped out this time." Micah turned to Langrid."The real transfer of the prototype into Ivan's body has not begun. It's only been tested on him to check if he can survive having such powerful prototype in his body. The Principal is not going to return to Ivan until the next two days or tomorrow, if he's curious to know how

He might cause some trouble if he's left unwatched."Friendship.That was the only possible relationship between Kastian and Landon that Micah, Aki and Langrid believed caused Landon to react the way that he did over Kastian's death."We'll meet here tomorrow and share information. It's not about us this time or just the people close to us that have been affected but about the whole of humanity. This is us truly being heroes.""Keep me at bay?" Landon scoffed, joining them."Shit!" Langrid cussed."I didn't cover us with Stealth.""How did you get away from your friends?" Micah asked, stepping closer to Landon."D-grade Special illusion user." Landon straighted his shoulder and stood proudly."Although, I'm pretty sure the ranking system made a horrible mistake leaving me in the D-grade." He muttered but loud enough for them to hear."You cannot be here, kid. You should leave." Aki told Jim off and Landon huffed."You think you're the only

Ivan never took his hands off Langrid's head as he spoke."We'll keep him with us. Now that he doesn't remember anything about them, he's going to help us with the experiment." The Principal opened a portal and nodded at Ivan. The latter didn't take his hands off Langrid's head immediately. He still doubted that it was a good thing leaving Langrid alive."Let him go, Ivan. If I say he's going to help us then he will." The Principal instructed Ivan sternly. He still hesitated but eventually took his hands off Langrid.Once he was free, he looked back and forth at the Principal and Ivan."Why are you both staring so weirdly?" He frowned, moving closer to the portal."You declined joining us for the experiment on me." Ivan decided to test if they could really go on without killing Langrid."Stop foo

I clicked on the next video but it was just my mother in this one."Hi Kastian. It's day three of the Ash Experiment. Your father is monitoring the process of the seal. While he's at it, I decided to tell you everything about the first mission of the academy and how that changed the academy.""Together with the psychic users, we discovered that a planet called Karile held dangerous energy. Your father was a bit skeptical about the whole plan to go to Karile and check it out."She smiled and looked sideways like she was avoiding getting caught saying the words she was about to say, "To be honest, soldier, I was equally terrified."She straightened her back, "But of course, I hid it from your father. I couldn't let him see my doubt if I wanted him to get out of his own doubt and trust my plan.""I couldn't blame him since I was scared too.
