St. Jame's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
Toc, toc.
The door of the room where Adrian Evans was resting opened.
Dr. Steve Meyers entered, holding in his hand an old notebook that was about to run out of pages as he wrote in it.
Immediately, sadness and death were feelings that accompanied him on his way to assess the 12-year-old boy who lay dying in the bed of the public hospital where he had been sent to end his days when his parents received the grim news that he would not be spared from death because of the terminal cancer he inherited from his father's family at birth.
Adrian looked at the doctor, his eyes were bathed in sadness, he had already lost the last drop of hope he had left to survive.
The doctor shook his head.
“No, Adrian. I'm sorry, but there is no cure for your illness, I already told you once. I just came to tell you that you will be transferred tonight to floor 001 of the hospital. There you will end your days, without the right to receive visitors.”
Adrian averted his eyes to the ceiling, sighed one last time, begging God to hear his words and take him to heaven at once before he ended up being accompanied by the smell of the dead, and by corpses that were decomposing and waiting to be claimed by their families to be buried.
When the doctor left him alone. Adrian closed his eyes, never to open them again that day.
Birdsong was heard in the air, the fresh wind hit his face, and little by little, he woke up, feeling his body move normally, feeling how underneath him was no longer the cold hard bed of the hospital, but now he was lying on what seemed to be the softness of the ground covered by grass.
It was then that Adrian opened his eyes completely, finding a paradise all around him.
The sky was no longer blue, now, it was a mix of pastel colors combined between blue, purple and orange. The sun was nowhere to be seen, but its warmth could be perceived perfectly as if it were there.
Adrian stood up from the ground, looked around in awe and fascination.
It was unbelievable.
The surrounding scenery looked like something out of a fairy tale of the kind his mother used to read to him when it was time to go to bed before he turned 10 and lost his love for them.
“Wow, this is wonderful. But where am I?” asked Adrian to himself when he finally regained consciousness and realized that everything he saw was real.
Soon, a slight shaking of the earth shook him, Adrian looked down at his feet, noticing that the shaking would not stop until fifteen seconds later that in front of him, a huge man appeared who was ten feet tall, and fatter than a normal-sized truck.
Adrian was paralyzed. He wanted to run away, but he could not, because that man was a real giant, the giants in this world were the worst enemies of the people who inhabited it. Giants and humans fought daily to colonize this new world, alien to the real one, where Adrian came from.
So it was that Adrian heard another noise echoing from inside the trees of the forest, of which he had not realized its existence until that moment when the danger was very close to him.
From inside a bush, a girl of perhaps the same age as him peeked out, shrieked at him, and hurriedly motioned for Adrian to approach her and hide by her side, and in a desperate attempt to get out of the hands of the furious giant who was about to grab him to put him in his mouth and devour him as if he were his dinner, Adrian obeyed the girl, and ran to his hiding place.
Adrian jumped into the bush, and hid in the back, just as she was doing.
The girl was very different from the ordinary girls he knew from his other world, and that quickly caught his attention.
She wore a black combat suit that fit her body, she wore a pair of black boots the kind one wears when doing heavy field work, in her hand, she carries what appears to be a black pipe the length of at least three hands together and lined into one, and on her back, she carries a mighty sword full of power, this was no ordinary metal sword, this was a magical and special sword that has been crafted solely to take on the giants and beat them in heavy battle.
“Who are you? Do you know where I am? Do you know why that giant wants to attack me?”, Adrian asked the girl with desperation to find an answer to his thousands of questions that were going around in his head.
But the girl was focused on hunting her first giant, she was an apprentice of the academy of Darksite specialists of the world where Adrian was now part of it just by waking up there, however, to move to the next level of her training, she had to hunt a giant on her own, applying all the theory and practice she received in each of her trainings, and taking with her as a prize and evidence the severed head of the giant she killed.
Of course, she didn't want to miss her chance just to get chatty with a newcomer to her world.
“Shut up and let me concentrate. I have to kill this giant, or I'll lose the course and have to repeat it a third time. This is the one to beat, or else I'll be expelled from the academy and be a nobody in this world,” she scolded him, readying her red lightsaber, standing up from her hiding place, and preparing attack position against the giant who was approaching them cautiously not to lose them.
But just as she was about to aim at him with her advanced magical technology she created in another of her classes, soon, her heroic action was interrupted by a group of three boys wearing her same uniform, they were classmates from her class who entered new in this school cycle, and as she was the only one from the last course to repeat it, there was no doubt that they all made fun of her every chance they got, calling her as a loser, and this group of three, was no exception.
“Damn!” she shouted angrily as she saw that the boys had managed to catch and slay in small portions with their sabers the giant that was once hers.
“Did you think you could beat us, Ally?” sneered one of the boys, showing Ally, from their distance, the decapitated head of the giant that was originally going to be hers.
“You're going to pay for this one, Ryan!” shouted Ally very angrily. Adrian could see it, his savior's cheeks were redder than a tomato, and her hands formed fists tightly, as if she wanted to throw herself at them to grab them with blows, but Adrian guessed that if she didn't, it was because she couldn't, and shouldn't.
“Yes, as you wish, keep dreaming. Prepare your strategies better for next time. Bye, sweetie. See you in class tomorrow. Better, organize your bags, because soon you'll end up being expelled from the academy for being a loser,” another boy different from Ryan, one with brown skin and fake green eyes because of the contact lenses he wore, scoffed.
The boys picked up what belonged to them and walked away from the scene.
Ally began to cry out of anger, and in a slight, innocent attempt to want to support her, Adrian instead received a slap across the face that sent him flying into a nearby tree trunk, and soon, he passed out.

I'm sorry, this happened because of me, I shouldn't have hit you like that,” Ally peeked out from behind the door of his room, looked at Adrian with embarrassment, and slowly, began to enter the room.“Don't worry. Although I don't remember much of what happened, I think you gave me a good blow because my back hurts a lot,” Adrián confessed, placing a hand on his back, in token of that pain.“It's just that I threw you against a tree trunk, and that's why you were knocked unconscious. But don't worry, I brought something for you that will calm the pain”, she smiled and even shyly, she approached Adrian's bed, although without asking his permission, she sat down next to him.Adrian no

Adrián stopped in front of the mansion, carefully observing the structure. On the contrary, it gave the feeling that someone, or something, expected it.He breathed deeply and firmly sustained the bewitched key. The interior was illuminated by floating candlesticks that projected fanciful shadows on the walls adorned with ancient tapestries.Adrián crossed the threshold and, at the same moment he did it, the door closed behind him with a dry blow. His heart accelerated by the shock, but soon calmed down when he noticed that the atmosphere of the place was not threatening.
