They strolled through all the halls of the academy, Adrian kept looking in awe at what made it up; students with extraordinary abilities, superb teachers and teaching classes that didn't look at all boring like the ones he once took in his other life for when his terminal illness hadn't been detected yet.
Headmistress Roxanne analyzed every step, every glance and every movement of the boy who accompanied her, wondering to herself from which of all the worlds she knew was the one that might have been Adrian's former home.
There were different existing magical worlds that were annexed to the earth, for when people died, God decided if he wanted to take their soul to heaven, or if they deserved a chance to reincarnate in one of the other worlds, it all depended on their aura, their mentality, and their personality and heart. These worlds were seven in total, and the director, Roxanne, knew them perfectly well to the letter because both she and her graduate students from the academy, stood in the way of their destiny to dedicate themselves to defeating the darkest and most powerful enemies of each world.
She imagined that Adrian had reincarnated from earth, because she knew that there was a common characteristic of those who came from that world; they could not remember anything of their past, they did not know exactly who they were, they only remembered one thing: the cause of their death and their first name.
Otherwise, they did not remember anything else about them and their past lives.
They arrived at the principal's office, it was huge, it was also decorated in the same way as the rest of the academy, except for something that made it particular; the body of a giant baby lay resting on the floor in the center of the office as if it were a mat of fine furs. Adrian was frightened when he saw it, because that mat looked like it was alive, its eyes remained open, its tongue was sticking out of its mouth, small drops of dried blood could still be seen drawn on them, and likewise, what perhaps disturbed him the most, was the position in which it was lying; face down and with only its arms stretched out.
His legs were straight, together and barefoot.
“I know you may find these kinds of decorations a bit... disturbing, but this is the trophy I won in my first and last test to be chosen as the headmistress of this academy. Those of us who were nominated to be headmistress had to present a challenge and bring with us proof that we did it. We were each sent to our respective worlds, and the one who impressed the most would be the winner. Obviously, I was the winner. No one could beat me in the selection challenge,” the director circled the giant mat, and walked over to her personal cafeteria that was located to the side of her desk.
“Impressive... Do they teach all this at this academy?” asked Adrian, staying still in place, and with no intention of wanting to move from there.
“Yes. You'll see that in the Giant Combat Strategies subject. Would you like some chamomile tea with honey?”, the headmistress offered Adrian as she poured a first cup of tea.
“Uh... Sure, of course,” Adrian replied, and watched as the teacup rose as it answered the call of a snap of the headmistress' fingers, and directed its way to Adrian, levitating in the air delicately as if it were a thin, light and soft feather.
Adrian received the cup of tea in his hands.
“That was great, do you just do magic? Or are you also a specialist?”, Adrian asked curiously and took a small sip of his tea, forgetting that it was freshly brewed, that it was hot and would burn his tongue in an instant.
“I am both, though I can do many more. Some of us are born with the strength and gift to learn many extraordinary abilities, others only possess one gift, be it magic, cultivating medicine, magic crafting, combat, and so on. It all depends on you passing the test you will take to enter the academy, otherwise, if you don't pass it, if you don't prove that you have extraordinary abilities, I will have no choice but to let you stay on as the janitor. Entitled to live here at the academy, working for me and serving the teachers and students. Are you okay with that?”, Roxanne poured herself her cup of tea, and as she positioned herself in her desk chair and with a nod signaled Adrian to sit across from her, the cup of tea also levitated to her hands by the time she finished pouring.
“What, what do you mean I have to take a test?” the boy asked in surprise, obeying the headmistress and sat down in the chair opposite her which, luckily, was not on top of the giant mat as they usually put it on, but was to one side so that it was more comfortable to sit on.
“Yes. What? You thought that the other students who entered this academy did it just by saying: hello, I am such and such a person and I have this extraordinary ability. I want to be part of the academy”, the woman in front of Adrian said the words with such seriousness and looked at him with much analysis, as if his entrance to the academy depended on it.
Adrian swallowed saliva, almost choking on the tea he had taken a sip of as they spoke.
“No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that... Okay, can you tell me, at least, what my test will be?” he asked innocently.
“No, I can't. It's rules, I can only tell you that your test starts now.”
Before Adrian could answer, again, and with a snap of his fingers, the office they were in disappeared, sending him alone to a very dark, gloomy place, where there was no room for a single flame of light.
The walls of that place moved like soothing waves of the ocean, the place was decorated in a purple almost black color and Adrian was getting very nervous, he didn't know where he was, and he didn't see Principal Roxanne appearing anywhere either.
“Headmistress! Where am I?”, Adrian shouted in frustration, his shout was heard like an echo hitting the walls of a very narrow cave.
“You are in Onexus, it is the battlefield we have created together with the academy teachers to apply the selection test to our next students. Tell me, boy, what is your power?” the headmistress' voice answered like a ghost in the air. It also echoed like a loud echo struck inside a cave.
“What, I don't know, I don't know exactly what my power is,” Adrian answered, searching desperately for the place towards which the headmistress' voice was speaking to him, but to no avail. He couldn't find it anywhere.
“What do you mean you don't know? Well, let's make things easier for us, then,” replied the director.

Ally nodded. “Yes, I knew that. I forgot to mention it, sorry. We've all been through that test, I nearly failed, I was sent to fight a horde of flying angry piranhas from another world. The students were entering the academy, all in orderly fashion, wearing the same uniform Ally had been wearing that morning, and the same one she had worn the day she and Adrian met. The group of the three boys who had confronted and stolen Ally's giant's head trophy were nowhere to be seen yet, Adrian remembered them, and thought that maybe the boys had already arrived at the academy and were at this moment showing off their prize to the teacher Ally had mentioned to him that she didn't want to be late for class that day.Ally looked nervous about approaching to pass attendance along with the woman stationed at the door, an antique notebook hovered in the air beside her, and a feather moved on top of it each time she called out a name of the student who was entering in line order.“You're nervous, aren't you?”, Adrian noticed.Although he didn't want to say it, he was. Ally was afraid to enter the academy, to attend class, because on that previous challenge depended on her future at
