Nelson could hear the fighting continuing outside of the little ball of dirt he was within. He heard yelling and shouts, but it was faint. The dirt compacted enough to dull the sounds.

Teasel waited for his command. When he was done preparing his daggers, the earth returned to the ground and Nelson could stand again.

“Alright, go help the others,” Nelson ordered him with a nod and a small, faint smile. He rarely considered the help of others to be anything more than something he could use, but now, there was a hint of genuine thankfulness.

Teasel gave him a rather dramatic salute before darting off.

Nelson was sure he could see the fae’s face for a second there, but he shook his head. He was probably imagining things. He looked around the pillar and gazed at the ongoing fight.

The group was taking turns to distract the demon King, but it wasn’t going well at all. Even with Teasel’s earth magic, they were struggling to keep the King from beating them. At least Nelson was ready now.
