Chapter 19: Running Out of Time

The baby tapped at Ethan to get his attention. He then hit Ethan’s mouth and pointed towards the exit.

“Yes, bud. Hold on tight,” he muttered. Ethan could worry about the strangeness of the baby later. They need to survive first.

Ethan ran at full speed. He jumped out the window of the stairs and tried to get away quickly, but at that very moment, the tower crashed into the house, smashing it to pieces.

Thousands of fragments flew in all directions, especially towards Ethan. He tried to evade them with speed protecting the baby.

But one of the fragments hit Ethan’s wrist, and he fell to the ground.

Ethan caught the baby before it hit. The debris that had hit Ethan’s wrist had damaged his stabilizer.

The water that fell from the tank dragged the young man who was protecting the baby to a wall to hit him hard before leaving him on the ground, delicately.

When Ethan regained his composure, he looked at the baby. He was pointing to the clock in his baby’s hand.

Ethan got up, and he seriously said as if talking to an older kid, “Listen, you have to act more like a baby, or they won’t let you go like us!”

The baby nodded and calmly drooling Ethan looked at him and couldn’t help but smile as he tried to activate the stabilizer on him.

But the device was destroyed, he could not carry both babies and think for a second he made a decision and ran at full speed towards the ship.

His gliders were perfectly working when Chronna saw him on the ship.

Upon seeing that she only brought a baby, the woman did not wait for a second. She threw herself into the void, running towards the ship.

When she saw him, Chronna expression turned into confusion. She asked with unmasked concern, “And the other baby?”

Ethan, exhausted. Before answering, he handed her the baby.

“I’m not going for him yet, and my stabilizer was damaged!” He remarked.

She looked at him with wide eyes. Then at her clock, before she yelled in worry, “We only have five minutes!”

Ethan nodded before he replied seriously but still urgently, “I know! I’ll go get the baby! I can do it!”

Chronna wanted to stop him, but they couldn’t abandon any baby.

“Listen, go to the ship and prepare to escape! Don’t come out, don’t come for me!” Ethan added before he turned around.

The girl looked at him and nodded. Ethan could not see her nod anymore as he already fled back into town.

The lightning bolts grew bigger and stronger and fell on the town. Chronna watched him go. She frowned as she felt a foreboding feeling.

Her thoughts were halted when she felt something touch her. It was the baby.

When the baby saw that she was looking at him already, he opened her radar, and then the baby made gestures of his hand. He was drawing a map on her radar!

Chronna was initially surprised. But, upon looking closer, she was amazed.

“You are a genius!” Chronna praised with a big smile before she set off to help Ethan.

Ethan skated at full speed. The lightning fell more fluidly and forcefully everywhere, and he had to move cautiously so that none of them hit him.

He avoided each blow and watched as people prepared for the end.

Turning a corner, he saw a car attack him head-on to try to run him over.

Ethan quickly jumped off a nearby wall to avoid the people in the car and land at full speed again.

The car turned and started to chase him. Ethan looked over his shoulder and looked at the couple who had attacked Chronna in the car, and they were chasing him at full speed.

The speeder wasn’t faster than the car, but Ethan could move better.

Turning down a street to keep going and sprinting toward him, the baby saw people crowding the street in what looked like a walk of resignation.

He avoided everyone with speed as the car behind him sped up.

Avoiding everyone, he could not control his movements well and collided with force against a man trying to maintain his stability.

Ethan fell to the ground.

When he tried to get up, the car was almost on him and rolling onto his back, and he got out of the way.

The car stopped in front, and the man got out. In his hand, he had the hammer and wanted Ethan, just like how he did it with Chronna from earlier.

Ethan did not have much time and had to overcome this nuisance, plus save the baby.

Quickly he got up, and he jumped over the wall and began to ascend.

While going up, one of the lightning bolts exploded right in the building where he was advancing and avoiding the explosion.

He jumped, standing on the falling debris and jumping from one to another to fall on the road behind his pursuers and take his way again.

Upon landing, he looked back, and huge debris fell on the car’s engine rendering it useless.

“Take that!” Ethan yelled smugly.

When he landed, Ethan started to advance, but another bolt of lightning struck right beside him.

The blow was such that it flew out until it crashed into a wall. Ethan was breathing heavily.

He was still dizzy from the impact and couldn’t get up.

His muscles were completely numb, and he had momentarily lost his hearing. He was looking at the car with his pursuers, and they saw that as an opportunity.

The two of them were running at full speed towards Ethan, he was breathing heavily and trying hard to stand up, but his muscles were not working.

He was trying to move, but his hands were barely working with speed. Ethan approached the control panel of his wrist computer. He touched a button to activate a function that it had.

He had never used it more than to joke with the other Irregular, but this time he hoped that it would work.

When activated, an incandescent glow came out of the bracelet, and the pursuers of him covered their eyes.

When they opened, they saw many reflections of Ethan. There were thousands of very realistic images about the boy that confused them.

They were all old photos that the boy had taken.

“There is!” The man that was chasing him said.

Behind the images, Ethan walked without stopping. As he walked, the two crossed through the orographic images.

The electric shock had stopped Ethan.

He was trying with all his might to advance, but his muscles were not working.

The energy of his sliders was almost complete, and when his pursuers were about to touch them, they were activated.

Ethan, who was still completely in pain, started to run.

His sliders worked, and he managed to get away from his pursuers, but he had wasted a lot of time in that place. Of the five minutes he had, he only had two, and he was still quite far away.

Although he could run much faster than his pursuers with his sliders, he still could not use all the power of these because his body was still seriously numb.
