Chapter 004 - Fired At Work

“YOU BASTARD AND USELESS PIECE OF TRASH, DON’T YOU DARE TELL ME NONSENSE. PACK ALL YOUR THINGS NOW AND LEAVE, YOU ARE FIRED!”

At this moment, the filthy-looking and overtly wounded-stricken Alex Johnson could be seen standing with his head bowed while shivering. And before him was an out-of-the-world furiously middle-aged man whose eyes were currently crimson red as he sent his spits flying across the place.

This middle-aged man was Alex Johnson's boss at the pizza shop who had never once treated Alex Johnson nicely since he’s been working for him.

As if Alex Johnson had offended him somewhere before, he had hated him to the bone since his first day at work.

He always gave Alex Johnson a lot of tasks above his pay, but no matter how great Alex Johnson behaves and no matter what he does right, he was always scolded by him and even punished a lot of times by having his Salary deducted.

Poor Alex Johnson.

This was why he had become utterly petrified when he realized his bike had been stolen.

After searching high and low, near and far, and everywhere he could search, Alex Johnson had become completely broken, and as he had thought, when he arrived, his boss was already pacing about with anger, breaming with outrage for him.

But he said not a single word until Alex Johnson finished explaining everything that occurred, starting from the accident till the end, but as if he hadn’t heard of the accident part, how Alex Johnson was beaten up, and Alex Johnson's present look that resembled someone who would shatter at any given moment, the manager flamed up and started cursing Alex Johnson to the end of the world, but Alex Johnson dares not say a single word in retort.

“YOU BASTARD! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE, HUN? DO YOU THINK I WAS JOKING WITH YOU LIKE I ALWAYS DO?”

Alex Johnson abruptly became dumbfounded, then he raised his head and glanced at his boss’s face.

Just now, he had thought his boss was just threatening him as he always does every single moment he was chastising him, but looking at his face now, Alex Johnson realized that he seemed to be very serious this time around, so he became further scared.

The moment he realized this, his eyes widen before slowly tearing up, then he couldn’t help but stutter. “Bo… boss, are… are you… you serious, you… please… please, you… you can’t fire me yet, plea… please!”

The middle-aged man’s eyes instantly widen when he heard Alex, then as if Alex was a big fool, he gazed contemptuously at him. “Bastard!” He bellowed. “Did you just say I can’t fire you? Who the hell does a piece of trash like you think you are?!”

Witnessing all this, every single one of Alex Johnson’s colleagues began to make mock him in their minds.

It was only a few people little than a handful pitying him.

Poor Alex Johnson, because he was very hardworking than them, he was also hated and abhorred to the bone by his colleagues. And although Alex Johnson knew they were currently mocking him instinctively, he couldn’t be bothered by that right now.

As if someone who was trapped inside a thousand-year-old ice, he began to shiver intensely when suddenly, he fell to his knee with a loud thud and started pleading not to be fired, but unfortunately for him, what he got in response was his boss’s merciless curses and rebuttal.

“Boss, please I’m begging you, please don’t fire me yet, my grandmother is still in the hospital with a critical condition, and a lot of money is needed from me before any treatment could be commenced.” He wailed heavily on his knees with tears gushing out of his eyes, but as if they no longer have human hearts, nobody pitied him at all except for a very minimal amount of the people present.

As for the boss, gazing at Alex Johnson’s broken self, he found it funny and refreshing that he couldn’t help but smile greatly before mocking. “How the hell does it concern me if your grandmother and entire family die, Hun? Tell me!”

“Boss, please, just forgive me this once… I… I promise to increase my workload to four times and only continue receiving the payment of one, please!!!”

“Nope, I don’t want you here anymore, so please, invite yourself out.”

The boss snickered when suddenly, he inserted a hand into his pants pocket and removed a wallet filled with neat notes of hundred dollars.

He searched for a while before he abruptly removed a ten dollar bill, then he threw it to the floor which was then carried by the wind and fell just two feet away from Alex Johnson.

“That’s all the money I owe you after deducting the pizza whose money you probably used for gambling and the company’s bike which you must have sold out.”

The moment Alex Johnson heard this, his brain stopped functioning and the words of pleading he was about to say became stuck in his throat.

Then swallowing hard for a while, he felt his eyes getting hot, signs of another session of tears trying to spill out, but he held it in with everything he has.

Filled to the brim with fear, he couldn’t react at all until his boss was turning around, about to walk out on him.

Alex Johnson Immediately forced himself to return to his senses, then instantly, he crawled over to his boss as fast as he could despite the intense pain butchering him.

“Bo… boss, please, you can’t do this to me, you can’t do this to me! My money with you including all the ones you were owning me is already over five hundred dollars! How could it be ten dollars? Please! I’ve already calculated and was only trying to find the remaining so that I would deposit it to the hospital and have them start treatment on my grandmother!”

Alex Johnson finally wasn’t able to control the tears anymore, and as if they were rivers, they spilled out of his eyes, flowing down his chest. But the middle-aged man only gave him a cold look before kicking him out furiously and spitting angrily at him. “Are you deaf?” He rumbled heartlessly. “Did you not hear what I just said? The rest shall be used to cover your debt, and instead of you thanking me that I still gave your balance, you useless scumbag still dares to reason with me about what I owe you, are you a fool?!”

He snorted loudly after grumbling this, then he waved his hand as if he was causing some flies away, then he walked away, leaving Alex Johnson horrified in the position he was kicked into.

Poor Alex Johnson, he doesn’t even have the time to register the unbearable pain inflicting him right now.

He continued gazing blankly into the space without hearing all the mockery words being said by his colleagues to him because their boss was gone.

He remained with his butt on the floor and his legs raised for a while when suddenly, as if he had gone crazy, unmeasurable tears gushed out of his eyes and he roared into a strong and intense laughter, laughing hysterically and scaring everybody shitlessly.

They suddenly gazed at Alex Johnson with eyes seeking if he has truly gone crazy.

They began to exchange gazes from time to time wordlessly as Alex Johnson continued his crazy laughter till when suddenly, he stopped.

The stop was too sudden that the people present weren’t able to react.

With their mouths wide open, they watched as Alex Johnson stood up strenuously, cringing with the unbearable pain inflicting him, then he bent over to pick up the ten-dollar bill on the floor.

Suddenly, he squeeze it in his hand with all his knuckles showing out, a testament to the strength he had added, but he doesn’t seem to notice.

With his face abruptly turning frosty, he gazed in the direction his boss had gone for a while, then he turned around and walked away, not forgetting to mutter his signatory words to himself.

The word he always used to remind himself to work hard so that he could take revenge for every single bully he had ever experienced some days.

While Alex Johnson was walking away, surprisingly, Cliff Sotto could be seen inside the manager’s office with his legs placed on the manager’s desk as if he was it was his personal office.

Right now, he could be seen watching the scene of Alex Johnson’s back walking out of the building with a wide grin on his face.

‘She should like this, right?’

He thought to himself before he suddenly raised his head to glance at the previously extremely arrogant middle-aged man who was now standing submissively and respectfully at the side.

“You’ve done a great job,” he gave a thumbs up. “I shall introduce you to my father as promised when I have time.”

The moment the middle-aged aged man heard this, a flattering smile appeared on his face, then he started thanking Cliff Sotto over and over again.

Poor Alex Johnson, he has no idea that the reason why he was fired was that Cliff Sotto was taking revenge upon him and also playing him for someone important to him.
