Chapter 006 - An Unexpected Person

Presently, Alex Johnson could be seen gazing at his front with a dumbfounded expression on his face.

Looking at him now, it was as if he was witnessing the most unbelievable and unexpected thing in his life.

That’s right.

After leaving the Café, he started searching about worriedly, but no matter how much he searched for her, she was nowhere to be found.

He went to her hostel and was given cold shoulders and treated like a beggar by her friends before he was contemptuously chased away.

Just when he was about to become overwhelmed with extreme nervousness, he found her, but never in his entire life had he imagined what he saw her doing.

Growing up, because Alex Johnson was almost the twin brother of poverty, he has no friends apart from one.

Although her family wasn’t as poor as his, they had clicked perfectly well right from toddler, and they became best friends who couldn’t do without each other for just a single day.

They even promised to marry each other once they grow up.

In fact, although they hadn’t proclaimed themselves as a couple, almost everybody that knew them already assumed that, and the two had never bothered correcting them about this, tacitly agreeing to the claim.

Because they were both extremely brilliant, they both got a scholarship into one of the best and most expensive private colleges in the city.

Although Alex Johnson doesn’t know about her, deep within himself, he knew how much he deeply loved her and had taken their immature promise seriously.

‘Was this why she has been increasingly ignoring me for the past year?’

With a pitiful expression that could make the heart of the most wicked person on earth falter, Alex Johnson thought, and before he could control himself, a tear had dropped from his eye, but he still refused to believe what he was seeing.

He doesn’t want to believe it.

‘Perhaps, the person just resembled her a little too much,' he convinced himself and breathed in deeply, then he stepped forward with his legs trembling, probably with fear or pain.

Just as Alex Johnson got near the duo of a slightly handsome young man who was dressed in colorful branded clothes and was currently kissing and romancing the second person, an averagely tall girl who was dressed in an extremely short black gown and has her hair braided beautifully noticed him.

“What… what are you doing here?”

The averagely tall and beautiful girl immediately blushed and hurriedly took away the hands harassing her as she questioned Alex Johnson, but Alex had become too flabbergasted right now, so he doesn’t notice.

“You… you… you…”

He pointed a finger with an utterly shocked expression on his face, but he wasn’t able to form a single word from his mouth.

Suddenly, the young man dressed in a colorful dress smirked coldly and abruptly drew the girl before him closer into his embrace, making Alex’s eyes widen completely.

“Look who we have here, what do you want? Can’t you see that me and my girlfriend are currently making out?”

He questioned rudely, making the girl in his embarrassed blush and Alex’s face turn pale, but his gaze wouldn’t leave the girl.

“Shana, please tell me you were forced into this, please!”

His eyes welled with unshed tears as he continued gazing at the girl, but what he got was a stunned face.

The girl called Shana abruptly pointed at herself.

“Me, forced?”

It was as if she just heard the dumbest question. “What nonsense are you spitting from your mouth? How could I be forced, do I look like a kid to you?”

Alex’s face became further pale and his mouth trembled slightly. “Then… then… then what are you… you doing with… with him?”

The girl Shana and Cliff Sotto instantly rolled their eyes at Alex as if he was a fool.

“Are you deaf, didn’t you hear what he just said? I’m his girlfriend!”

Alex Johnson’s ears immediately rang hysterically, then his voice shook and he felt his heart breaking apart each second.

“This couldn’t be true… it can’t be true!”

Hearing him, Shana and Cliff exchange gazes, then they chuckled.

“Why couldn’t be true there, Hun?”

Shana who was initially embarrassed she was caught red-handed by Alex abruptly questioned coldly.

“Bastard, do you really think I would want to date someone poor like you who could barely even eat two times a day?”

Alex became thunderstruck by the sudden change in Shana’s emotion and her cold voice and couldn’t react apart from his face becoming blank as Shana continued.

“Listen, you fool. You have no right to comment about what is true and not when it comes to me. This is my boyfriend, the only person worthy of me and who could buy me everything I want in this world, as for you,” she abruptly gazed contemptuously and disgustingly at Alex from his head to toe, acting as though he was worst than trash.

“I didn’t want to break this to you in the past which was why I’ve been ignoring you and why I told my baby to make you lose your job so that you could give up on your stupid dream.”

“Hun?”

Alex’s eyes abruptly widen at this sudden confession, then he pointed again with disbelief.

“You… you… you made me lose my job?”

His mouth directly became wide open while Shana instantly shut her mouth with her hand as though she had only misspoken.

Just as she doesn’t know how to respond, Cliff gave her a loud smooch on her face before gazing playfully at Alex.

“Yes. My babe said she doesn’t want to break your heart and she also doesn’t want to pity you, so when I told her about how you almost killed yourself by riding into my car, she advised me to make you lose your job.”

Alex trembled intensely when he heard this and his eyes became crimson red.

He doesn’t want to believe this, but the expression on Shana’s face informed him that what Cliff said was the truth.

“Why?” A mournful growl escaped his throat. “Why did you do that? Why!!! Was it not enough that you dumped me and follow a rich guy, you even made me lose my job, why?”

Instead of pitying the extremely pitiful-looking Alex, Shana actually became more furious and her eyes abruptly bore hatefully at Alex.

“Bastard! What do you mean by saying I dumped you? Have I ever dated you? Oh… was it because I never bothered about arguing with the people who used to call us a couple back in the day, then you must be a fool! I’ve never had any intention of dating you and in fact, the reason why I was very close with you was because you were tutoring me and I didn’t want to lose my scholarship then, but now, I don’t need it anymore, you can go die for all I care.”

“No No No!” Alex repeated like someone who has lost his mind.

“You must be pranking me, right? You must only be saying that intentionally so that I could hate you! How could you say all the deep love and affection we’ve been showing each other since we were kids was a lie? How could you say all those times you had fallen sick because I wasn’t around was a lie? How could you say all those long hours every day we’ve been spending speaking to each other nonstop both face to face and on the phone was a lie? How could you call all the memories better than those of a couple a lie?”

Alex poured his mind out with anguish and started breathing laboriously, probably because of speaking nonstop or because he was trying to control the tears that has filled his eyes from falling, but what he got was mockery-filled gazes from both Cliff and Shana.

“Yes,” Shana responded with a bright smile. “Everything was lies. In fact, they were all acting on my part.”

Alex immediately shook like a leave that was being controlled by wind but refused to fall no matter what, and finally, the tears he had been holding back all along fell like a river released, flowing down and dripping to the floor.

Right now, apart from being physically and emotionally wounded, his heart was also now utter shambles.

The tears continued falling from his eyes while Shana suddenly took out her phone and began to film Alex.

“Baby, this should clear all the reputations you said you don’t like, right?”

“Hmm.”

Cliff nodded with a bright smile on his face as he continued watching the scene jovially.

After a while, the tears flowing from Alex’s eyes eventually stopped, then he took in a deep breath and abruptly became utterly emotionless.

Gazing at Shana, his heart became still, and although he saw that she was filming him, he doesn’t react. “Actually, the reason I came here to find you is that I need to retrieve the five thousand dollars I asked you to hold in your account on my behalf which I’ve been saving with you since our sophomore year. I need it now to help my grandmother who is in a critical condition.”

The moment Shana heard this, she became stomped and nervous for a moment, then she abruptly scratched her chin with an embarrassed smile on her face before stuttering. “What… what money are… are you talking about?”

“Huh?”

Alex became astounded, then he suddenly smiled slightly. “You must be joking this time around, right? Asking me what money I’m talking about?”

Although Alex’s heart began to tremble with fear, he acted otherwise.

“I… who… who is joking with you.”

Shana’s face abruptly transformed again, turning furious, then snapped at Alex.

“Bastard! What the hell are you even talking about? Are you trying to push a crime I didn’t commit into me because I told you the truth about the position you hold to me?”

Alex’s eyes widen with amazement this time around.

Suddenly, he doesn’t know what to do or which emotion to portray anymore.

“What! You can’t talk again? Bastard!

Finished snapping this, Shana took hold of Cliff’s hand and dragged him with it, storming away as if she was trying to escape something.

The moment Alex saw this, he returned to his senses and instantly ran after the duo.

“Shana, please stop this joke if it’s one. I’m very honest, this is a matter of life…!”

Just as Alex was saying this, he felt an unexpected force colliding into him and sending him flying to the back, then a gasp rang.

“Babe! Are you okay, were you hurt? You shouldn’t have bothered with that frog, what if you get injured by punching him with your fresh hand.”

This was what Alex heard after groaning and forcing himself to seat up from the ground, then his heart became cold.

With a pained expression on his face, Alex lifted his hand to wipe away the blood trickling down his face, then a broken-hearted grin appeared as he observed Shana, the only person he had ever loved besides his grandmother, tending to the person who had just assaulted him.

“I was such a big fool who doesn’t know how much he was hated by heaven!”

He thought and watched Shana drag Cliff away without bothering to gaze in his direction at all whether he was wounded or not.

Suddenly, two trails of blood tears left his mouth, then Alex forced himself to stand up, sweating so much with an unbearable level of pain

Just as Alex was trying to walk away like a zombie, a deep sigh filled with emotion sounded behind him.

“Young one, haven’t you suffered enough?! You sure you don’t want to consider this old one’s previous offer?”

Alex’s heart suddenly pounded with fear when he heard this sudden voice that came from his back, then he swirled hurriedly.
