Chapter 008 The Elderly man's Identity

*****

“Old man, I need to go urgently,” Returning to his senses, Alex hurriedly uttered before turning around.

As he prepared to hastily hobble away, an object unexpectedly landed in his hand, specifically wrapping one of his fingers. Because of his extreme nervousness which caused him to be unaware of what had occurred, he instinctively clenched his hand around the object.

Although all that happened, he has no idea at all, so he continued scurrying away as if someone was chasing him.

Without realizing it, the hand with which he grasped the object was the one he had previously used to wipe away blood from his nose. As he does so, a faint bluish light suddenly appears, intensifying and piercing through his skin before vanishing entirely.

The old man who saw all this watched Alex's back with a thoughtful expression on his face for a while until Alex disappeared, then suddenly, a bright smile appeared on his aged face.

“I knew it! I’m so smart!”

He chuckled happily to himself like an old man who has swindled a toddler into taking his bitter medicine.

“You don’t want to be my student willingly, but with that Identity ring I pushed into your finger which you accepted and even fed your blood to recognize, you’ve become this old immortal's heir, hahaha, I’m too smart for my own good!”

He continued laughing hysterically like a crazy old man, resembling someone that has done something worthy of being proud of, then a strong smugness appeared on his face.

Just as he continued roaring to himself like someone who has finally achieved greatness after countless years of trial, an unexpected deep sigh sounded from nowhere.

But the old man who heard this wasn’t startled at all. Rather, his hysterical laughter only came to an abrupt stop, then an irritated look covered his face. “You old fool, had I not warned you to never spy on me? How dare you still do? Are you looking for a beating again?”

His eyes widen and became red when suddenly, a thoughtful look appeared on his face and he suddenly scratched his dirt-filled grey hair.

“What the hell is your consciousness even doing in the mortal world that you loathed so much and would have long annihilated had you not found your student who has now ascended before you within a hundred thousand years in the time pagoda?”

The old man gazed around as if waiting for a response, then the mockery in his eyes became strong.

But after waiting excitedly for a while and no response came, the Old Man finally became disappointed, thinking the other party has ran away, then he sighed again when suddenly, an extremely aged voice filled with wisdom sounded quietly from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.

“Did you descend into the mortal world to swindle that boy into becoming your student because my student, his father was incredibly talented that he ascended into the immortal world faster than almost everybody?”

An embarrassed look Immediately appeared on the old man's face as if the voice has hit a hidden spot, but just as he was thinking of how to refute it, the voice sighed again.

“That wasn’t why I’m here anyways. I’m here to tell you that you need to return to your world as soon as possible. You’ve left for way too long, and those little fellows you left behind have now turned themselves into beasts, destroying everything just because they wanted to become the next master, thinking you are dead.”

“Hun?!”

The old man's eyes abruptly widen, then he spat furiously.

“How dare those useless brats eye my world, those useless pieces of garbage! I must teach them a lesson they would never forget in their lives! What do they want my amazing student to think about me if he was to know that the servants I took in were actually wishing me dead and even thought about stealing my property?”

Just as the old man spat this, he disappeared abruptly and all his traces vanished as if he had never been there.

Just after five minutes, a deep sigh sounded again.

“Little guy, I've been contemplating compensating you for all the hardships you have faced these years since I was the one who abducted your father and subjected you to a life of discomfort. But it is quite ironic that the stubborn old man who had rejected countless more gifted individuals would take such a keen interest in you and even lower himself to make you his pupil.

“What a lucky boy, even more than your father. I'm sure he would be very proud of you know if he was to know the son he never knew would be luckier than him.”

……..

While all that was happening, Alex has no idea or any way of knowing was rushing as much as his tired and pained leg could carry him.

It was as if he was being chased by an assassin for his life.

He continued, sweating hysterically, but he doesn’t realize that the unmeasurable pain inflicting him was gradually reducing and that everybody he rushed past was pointing their fingers at him with mockery expressions on their faces.

In no time, he rushed out of the school’s gate and hailed a taxi, boarding it and urging the driver to run very fast, to the driver's irritation, furiousness, and unhappiness.
