“What do you mean?” Mr. Alcantara asked, confused.

How could she ask for a divorce, when she was the one cheating?

“That's what I would have said if I truly wanted to elope with another!” Mrs. Alcantara scoffed, sounding annoyed.

She was scared of putting her marriage in jeopardy, as well as her secret affairs. She wouldn't let her husband find out about her lover by all means.

“So, are you trying to say you are not eloping with anyone?” Mr. Alcantara asked, giving her a long stare.

“Yes, my friend is just misunderstood.” She lied further.

“Well, she's in that position where she is torn in-between eloping with her lover and being with her family.” Mrs. Alcantara explained.

She wished her husband would buy her lies because she couldn't afford to lose all the pleasures and freedom she was enjoying with her lover.
